When I see Chris Akrigg in a title, I instantly click, and I'm never disappointed.
  • 132 0
At the end he walked the part that I can ride, and throughout the whole video he rode where I would walk.
  • 17 0
Can we get a behind the scenes video of this! Amazing!
  • 16 0
Takes me to long to watch his short vids. Keep having to rewind and try to figure out how the hell he spotted his lines. Pretty sure he's just tracking mountain goats.
  • 5 5
@abzillah: That was the last Walmart frame that he went through at the end. How does Mongoose land a rider like that?!?!
  • 9 0
In my dreams. Another awesome Akrigg edit. Every thing he drops is top, A Hill in Spain is still one of my all time faves as is Five.
  • 15 3
He is probably my most favourite rider, even though I am not a big trial enthusiast. I also enjoy his vides more than anyone elses, even Danny Macaskill´s...

...still doesn´t make me wanna ride mongoose though.
  • 4 0
@makak178: I love watching how he is constantly changing pedal position all the time. So difficult.
  • 4 0
Here me out...Remy goes to Mongoose, Chris and Remy make an edit where they race down the trail. Remy takes normal route at warp speed, Chris gets to make his own short cut trail...???
  • 10 0
There are not many people I can watch ride for seven straight minutes. Chris Akrigg is one of them
  • 3 0
@sjdeweese: Like Cryin' Brian & Hans in Big Five?
  • 1 0
 @Trials-FTW: haven't seen that one?
  • 1 0
when I see that mongoose I cringe pretty hard, but somehow Chris makes up for the disgrace and always delivers.
  • 1 0
I loved that little fufanu he sprinkled in there.
  • 90 1
Not only is riding lines that at most only a handful of people on the planet _can_ ride (hell, most mortals would not even see a line, much less ride it) but he is doing it with speed and flow that simply boggles the mind.

Such wow.
  • 29 29
Makes me proud to be British just watching his uniqueness and flow
  • 28 9
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: not that being British has anything to do with anything in there...
  • 21 3
@MrEtnie: I know biking is worldwide but the aspect that makes me proud to be British is the unique countryside in the video that is specific to England. It reminds me of the lake district where I used to live and gives me a sense of nostalgia. And also seeing a fellow British rider nail it which is rare on pink bike. Other than that this vud has nothing to do with being British...
  • 11 9
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: this is actually a nice and important addition to your first comment. In this age of re emerging nationalism everywhere, it is important to remember there is nothing to be proud of you didn´t achieve.
  • 7 2
@Krafkloot: who's saying I didn't achieve? I'm proud of living in such s beautiful scenic place that is lucky enough to be a main backdrop to this edit. Not one second do I state I can ride like Chris I merely say I'm proud to be British have lived in areas of natural beauty such as this film not one second do I suggest this scenery is better than Utah for examples sake. Get back on your high horse
  • 8 2
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: I know exactly what you mean. Even though I haven't lived there for 13 years, that video was shot where I come from, and that makes me feel proud. Even though that pride comes from an accident of birth, I don't care. It is still valid.
  • 17 0
"Flow trail" is such a relative term
  • 7 3
@MrEtnie: Can't he be irrelevantly Jingoistic and mindlessly patriotic for just a minute? You wouldn't have batted an eyelid if someone in the US had said it, and they're at this crap ALL the time...
  • 9 6
 @sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: "who's saying I didn't achieve"

Jeez...

You didn't ACHIEVE the COMPLETE FLUKE of being born in the UK.

You can't be proud of - much less take credit for - an accident of birth. In the UK we're supposed to understand this..
  • 2 1
@KeithReeder: hi keith the I didn't achieve bit refers to this statement Mr Etnie said "it is important to remember there is nothing to be proud of you didn´t achieve." His poor English in my head translates to I didn't achieve, like what the hell as that anything to do with it? This is why I said in my comment. Cheers for reply keith

The single most pointless 10 comments in the history of the internet.
  • 3 2
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: hey buddy you have every right to be proud of being British. We're all born where we are as accidents of birth. The contribution the Britian has made to the world is simply undeniable. Are there black spots in British history? Of course, as there are in any people's history. Britian is unique in the world in that she as a society for the most part has learned from her mistakes and tried to improve as a result. Unlike a couple other big name countries I could mention that want to keep repeating them. And yeah British Mtbers kick ass. So go on and be proud!!
  • 4 3
@KeithReeder: Sorry and yes, the Americans are the worst... Wink
  • 2 0
@cliffdog: lmao your comment made me laugh is this what the internet has boiled down to? Grown men bickering like kids
  • 1 1
@fattyheadshok: well said only guy with balls to defend my "misplaced" pride.
  • 2 0
huh! what did I just watch?

Is Mr. Akrigg a mutant of a new evolutionary specie?

All I know raight now is that I could tell to my grandsons: 'kids, I was lucky enough to live in the 'Iron Centaur Era' to admire his magnificient riding.
  • 5 2
@fattyheadshok: Black spots in British history pretty much is the entire history of Great Britain. The British Empire was still massacring people well into the 20th century, and has never properly reckoned with the horrors that we committed. The Empire is still talked about with pride, so the country has definitely not learned from it's past.

Parts of the previous empire are doing much better at this, with active truth & reconciliation efforts in Canada for instance - although better is still a long, long way away from doing good.

But yeah, we're pretty handy on bikes.
  • 1 1
Indian railways, the stiff upper lip, and football. I rest my case.
  • 2 1
 @sellcrackcocainetofundhobby:

Y'all Brits are killing it on bikes from the TDF to the UCI DH. Nothing to be ashamed of, old chap. Why, I feel a little pride comin on even tho I'm a Cali native brougham.

Angelic Upstarts – England Lyrics

The red in the flag
Is the blood that was spilt
In the way that your forefathers tell
And never a country been so great
The stories Britannia could tell

I never want to live my life
Away from the golden shores
There's never a country in the world
With the scent of an English rose

England, oh England a country so great
The land of so fair and so true
There'll never be any colours like
The red, the white and the blue

Whenever you go to the far-off shores
There's something that goes with you
The pride and the joy and the love
That comes from your mother of red, white and blue

You could never be born under a flag
That's like the one of the Union Jack
St. George's spirit has never died
It all keeps coming back

England, oh England... [5x]

Well I feel like I'm a shit rider now.
  • 8 0
 +1.
  • 20 1
Yeah well you're slightly less shitty than you were last year buddy. Congratulations!
  • 5 0
@acali: Yeah, we should take inspiration from this video and try to practice and learn some new skills on the mountain bike for 2017.
  • 2 2
@abzillah: anyone who has attempted to ride on a mossy log, through a mossy creek bed and just tried to clear one bolder knows how much skill, effort is required. Sooooo sick!! On a serious note though if he had a Sram sponser we could watch him go up this trail!!!
  • 32 0
I don't get it with Chris. Hear me out. He may be one of the top 3 best bike handlers I've ever seen when you combine trail and trials, yet, we only see him on a video like once every 2 months or so and that's about it. It seems like he should be all over the internet like some of those other riders. Am I missing something?
  • 6 0
i hear you man 2nded. this vid is mind bending blow up the internet worthy.
  • 9 0
i may be wrong but i believe his videos are filmed and edited by himself and a couple of mates which would take quite a while to do. don't think he has an army of camera crews and production staff following him around like another famous trials rider.
  • 12 0
@b45her: I'm sure he didn't mean that. He meant... if Danny makes a video in Edinburgh it goes viral and gets two million hits in one day, tweeted by Hans Rey and all that. Chris brings out mind blowing edit after edit, some cool, some funny, all really spectacular and NO ONE who isn't a hard core internet mountain bike whore has ever heard of him.
f*cking crying shame if you ask me but I get the impression he's happy.
Certainly comes across as a salt of the earth, down to earth nice bloke in the interviews he does.
  • 32 1
Because anybody can be impressed by Macaskill, but only mountain bikers understand how difficult Akrigg's riding is?
  • 4 0
Was chatting about this on trail today, I dont think he is under rated persay, he is an amazing talent on a bike, but he should get more recognition than he does imo. It may not be front flipping off a castle wall but his style and way he attacks trial is raw and cool to watch. There are little things on this vid that are rad, like the bit where he does a wrong foot forward hop to land right foot down to hit the next bit, that is skill
  • 6 1
Some people don't seek attention or recognition of their bad assed skills, some people are just happy being their bad assed selves with their bad assed skills.
  • 3 0
I think it's more because Danny's videos were more relatable to the general public i.e telephone box. Where as people don't understand how complex a rock garden is.
  • 1 0
@yonibois: I'll be honest first time ever heard of him but only been a fully fledged MTB slag for last year or so. will not forget this name that's for sure. Well said..
  • 23 0
 Unrideable trail *

* - Except by Chris Akrigg
  • 18 0
...And then Akrigg turned the entire mountain side into his personal skate park
  • 15 0
Always love wathching Chris Akrigg ride. Love how he incorporates trials riding into every day trail riding, started watching him since his part in Road Party with Martyn Ashton and Danny Macaskill. Amazing video.
  • 11 1
Check out "A Hill in Spain"
  • 1 1
@ReformedRoadie: accidentally thumbed down when meant to thumb up. Checked out hill in Spain, equally as good cheers!!
  • 1 0
@ReformedRoadie: My absolute favourite, and the first Akrigg edit I ever watched. Been a fan since.
  • 13 0
 A couple of observations:
First and foremost, I'm pretty sure that was a video game, not a real human. Second, holy stiff suspension. Pretty sure he only used about 30% travel on that fork. Lastly, who doesn't love soaking their tires before hopping around on moss covered rocks?
  • 3 0
And he's using Fox X2 too. Must be the fixed version, because if anything's going to make that shock explode, it's those drops to flat.
  • 12 2
Does anyone else think that he could make an amazing get away on a bike from a robbery? They would be like the suspect fled on bike and then get to an impassible route for the mortals and they would be like he has to be on foot now but he is still riding away. Maybe it is just me.
  • 6 0
Nice plot for his next edit! Although Chris likes to keep his videos more natural, but this idea would make for a really entertaining one.
  • 4 0
@southoftheborder: there is a movie with a plot like that, featuring martyn ashton, I think is called "martyn & martin" (I don't know the martin) or something like that
  • 1 0
@JoseBravo: Thanks for the tip, I'll look for it!
  • 10 0
That segment was better than any single video segment that had been put together to date because it was just a guy on a bike riding, only almost every single second of the video, there wasn't a man made obstacle. He turns the entire world into a technical playground, only he does it at a pace that must screams of anger, rage, aggression and raw angst. Simply the best riding video, bar none.
  • 11 0
My housemate genuinely asked if there was something wrong because I watched this on the toilet and i spent about 10mins in there.
  • 3 0
The remaining 2:30 after this edit was used for expressing your appreciation for the edit with your hand ?
  • 8 1
This video has made my day, so refreshing to see something completely different for a change, no bike park tricks here a bike park rider would be well out their depth here. The stunning British countryside a bonus too and BRI GS back nostalgia of when I lived in the heart of the lake district Wasdale, amongst the Cumbrian fell sides. Was this shot in Cumbria its identical to the Cumbrian hillsides? Great video going against the grain of bike video normalities. Dare to be different, Chris certainly does. As the SAS say "he who dares, wins"
  • 7 1
"Was this shot in Cumbria its identical to the Cumbrian hillsides? "

And to parts of Northumberland.

And Yorkshire.

And Teeside.

And Devon.

And Scotland.

And Lancashire.

And the Peak District.
  • 2 1
 @KeithReeder: LOLS. Brilliant comment.
  • 1 0
@KeithReeder: fair shout could be anywhere in UK lmao!
  • 2 0
The rock type in the video is gritstone, found almost exclusively in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
  • 1 0
 @KeithReeder: its in west yorkshire
  • 4 0
Sometimes I just don't realize how difficult is to do shit like this on a bike. This is frenetic what Chris Akrigg does. All of the stuff what he did in this vid needed lot of crazy hard work in the past years, but on the other hand I think he's also a genius. Not to mention that the video is very catchy, the editing and music was awesome (IMO the soundtrack was a little bit lowering, but who cares Big Grin ). True masterpiece!!
  • 2 0
You'll never find a soundtrack that pleases everyone. I REALLY liked it. Sounds like Deadmau5 if anyone else fancies more of the 'same'.
  • 1 0
@yonibois: as I said the music is awesome, it's still a really good soundtrack, I think so too Smile
  • 2 0
@PPhun Consider that HE produces his own vids - in many cases he was filming, editing, the whole lot. Talk about having "vision".
Re. the soundtrack.. the track was written for this vid *on purpose* (twitter@kameramusic).
Says a lot about production skills IMHO!
  • 5 0
 f*cking.Hell. This.Is.Freeriding.At.Its.Finest.

Sweet Jesus on a tricycle.... IMHO this wins over rampage hands down (sorry guys).
At this point I do want to reincarnate onto this very planet, as Chris Akrigg.
  • 7 0
Mind boggling, so much flow and talent AMAZING!!!
  • 7 0
Awesome. There are always trails in the area Chris is riding in!
  • 5 0
underrated rider. should team up with danny macaskill. these two should open the dh wc race day by taking their own lines to amaze the public
  • 2 0
they teamed up to finish road bike party 2 after Martin injured himself. Very different (and complimentary) approaches to applying their vast trials skills
Definitely not as well known outside of the bike scene but I wouldn't say underrated.
  • 5 0
It's so nice to see a rider make something from nothing, because I always think there's nothing decent to ride around me, but it's just a negative mindset.
  • 5 0
Chris Akrigg finds amazing flow, in what most would call impassable. Always love his vids! Great stuff!
  • 6 0
That root section at 3:35 should be a wc feature :-D
  • 4 2
Gotta love Danny's videos because of the scenario and his trial capabilities, but to me, Chris is a mountainbiker and fakme his videos blow my mind.
This is what Progressive riding is all about, kids.

  • 6 3
Great to watch. Really enjoyed that. Imo, music didn't fit the natural feel of the environment. But that's just me being picky.
  • 2 0
7 minutes of that insanity needs something that stays subtle and slightly constantly building, imo.
  • 1 0
Amazing! so creative but makes it look like "just another day out riding" Smile I would love a chance to try riding those rocks at the beginning though, look like they could be fun to jib! First time seeing a Chris Akrigg edit and I'm impressed
  • 3 0
You need to spend some quality time on YouTube watching his past vids. This was cool, but previous edits are more impressive, imo ( which says a lot, considering the riding in this bid)
  • 1 0
@robwhynot: definitely will check out some more
  • 3 2
This dude is so rad. It makes me want to barf that he is riding a mongoose. Understandably they have two different divisions but man it's almost sad that he is repping a super market bicycle. It kills me that mongoose will no doubt use this to promote $100 Walmart bikes that people will buy for their kids to totally f*cking get destroyed on.
  • 5 0
I ride my bike differently to Chris :-(
  • 3 0
Riding style fits so we'll to the song choice. Loved this video, it will be one of those videos I come back to pre-ride for some motivation.
  • 5 0
why wont a bigger bikes company sponsor him?
  • 1 0
Epic is one of those words I hate using, but sometimes it's legit called for.

All this here was f*cking epic Chris. I love the way you take what you know & show what the capabilities of your skills can accomplish when mixed with the capabilities of an all out MTB. It's awesome & I want more.
  • 3 0
I'm curious about the size of the frame. It looks like he may be riding a size smaller than what would be generally recommended he ride. Any ideas?
  • 2 0
I don't live that far away from where Chris films this, the terrain is identical and it's what I ride week in week out... or at least I though I rode... Chris, stop making us mere mortals feel so pathetic!
  • 1 0
So good it almost convinced me to bring out my clip-in pedals again. I say almost because in reality I would just be using them to unclip at basically every obstacle he just breezed through.
  • 3 0
The expression "it's lonely at the top" sure holds true for Chris - not many can ride with him and follow those lines!
  • 4 1
What the hell was urban lounge elevator music doing accompanying this man's epic journey down the mountain?
  • 1 0
"Elevator music"? Ha! Turn off the lights and bring out the glowsticks! That'd be one interesting elevator party... I mean ride.
  • 3 0
Excellent riding, of course, but exceptional camera work too. Home edit people should take notes. Tight video.
  • 2 2
The rear shock is barely moving except on big hits, but this is expected for this king of trialesque riding...
What I don't get is how he manages to do that with AM7 shoes? Yes, he's got skills to boot but these shoes are quite slippery for being flat pedals specific. Even more slippery than the former AM41 despite having similar looking soles...
  • 1 0
i am amazed that a trendy enduro carbon bike manufacturer hasn't sponsored Chris to make films advertising their product. This guy really inspires people to get out riding and to ride everything on one bike.
  • 1 0
Now I know why no one write an in-depth review about mongoose bikes..because they can't ride the mongoose like Chris..Haha.. By the way I like to read the comments here, thanks..and thanks to you also Chris
  • 1 0
When I was a kid Mongoose was the brand along with Haro, granted that was bmx, a rider of his calibre could choose who he rides for, maybe they are spot on for his lifestyle so why change.
  • 2 1
Shift up! Use that flawless Shimano drivetrain. Really though, makes me want to ride more like that. Time to take the enduro bike off trail.
  • 1 0
His riding is beautiful. I dont know how else to say it. But outside of these Chris Akrigg edits, I don't think I've encountered Mongoose since 1987 or so.
  • 4 0
 Beast mode: ON.
  • 2 0
One of the most creative riders out there. Cool to see so many different styles come together in one run
  • 2 0
Like in all his videos, i think he rides alone most of the times...
"Let's go this way!" yeah, right!
  • 2 0
Are you kidding me????, holy smokes, he don't need a trail, he makes his own, wow!!!!!!
  • 3 1
Chris is the most talented rider on Earth with danny macaskill , all disciplines and aspects combined
  • 3 0
 Most underrated rider definitely
  • 1 0
Awesome biking and videography! I really enjoy when there are continuing shots that flow with the rider. Thanks for the inspiration Chris!
  • 1 0
Seven minutes and my jaw aches from being on the floor for most of it. Awesome and kinda reminded me of an old school @RyanLeech video Smile
  • 1 0
Jumps to eBay to see if I can buy a Mongoose to be like Chris. Turns out I'll be bitterly disappointed. Utterly inhuman skill!
  • 1 0
No eco-warriors stirring the pot about riding in/through creeks yet? Off-season so figured this would have blown up da interwebz. Weird.
  • 1 0
Love to see his powerful riding... I think this MAN could even ride around mars with one breath!
  • 2 0
Such a unique riding style, picks up momentum in the most awkward terrain
