That dudes on fire right now. Such a fast rider with great control in loose conditions. I mean that fast right before the stepdown out in the open with the freaking marbles all over it? Inside line at full speed with 115% control. This mans a crusher!
I saw a comment on his Lenzerheide win, and it was that once he wins one world cup, wins will just start coming thick and fast. I think the guy must know some shit xD
I hate the uci so much. How do I find out how far back Danny is from Gwin in the WC overall? I can only find the dh overall ranking and not specific to the WC circuit...
@powderturns: Danny is 178 points behind Gwin. since it's 50 points for a quail's win and 200 points for a race win, Danny has a chance to win the overall at the next race.
@powderturns: I'm not sure where that info might be posted, but at the end of the broadcast it showed that Hart was 178 points back in the World Cup standings.
i cant remember ever seeing danny crash, im sure he has, but he always seems to stay up no matter how loose he gets. Danny Hart is a damn beast on a bike!!
@cuban-b: thanks and also to @iamwarthog UCI has filters that allow you to sort but I am not Jedi enough to ever find them. Hadn't seen broadcast but looking forward to it this evening!
Remember when people were concerned Gwin would be too dominant this season making it boring? Danny and Bruni are really proving them wrong... that was awesome. The time Bruni put in on everyone else coming back for the first time is absurd. These 3 (well 4 considering Minaar) are like Super Saiyan 4 while everyone else are just Super Saiyans.
Not sure why Redbull can't get their shit together. They have the money clearly, but every time I try to watch, something is breaking. Whether it's their player their app or now their whole website. Come on Redbull!
I've had the website loaded ready for the last hour, watching the timer count down. Its gets to zero and then crash's. Nice.
I wish redbull did give me wings so I could fly into their head office and punch the guy responsible in the head.
Olympic road race it is then. YAY.....
Why can't they make it work like the RX world championship which live streamed on youtube and works flawlessly ? On top of it, you can watch it afterwards… These folks suck !
Sorry, but it's not normal !
*Guy throws PC through the window and starts crying due to helplessness*
I agree they've had problems, but why treat RedBull as the evil monster?? We get free live coverage of the races we love, live the sheer joy of the Hart Attack! Love the downhill insanity from my bed, mint race from the power top three. f*ck haters
@ramcrew: because they muscled in and made the coverage worse, definitely from a reliability standpoint. A lot of us would pay for it to go to someone who can do the job properly, maybe not enough of us though. A lot would be like you
Just a quick idea and I'm posting here so the relevant people can see it but as a way of raising money for the Stevie Smith memorial fund I thought it might be a good idea for fox to commission a pair of Stevie tribute gloves. I realise I'm not an artist but I was thinking a design along the lines of; one glove with the Canadian flag on and another with a chainsaw on and then chainsaw across the knuckles as it has eight letters in. Obviously someone more talented than me would have to design them but I know I'd buy them for sure and it would be a nice way to commemorate him whilst also raising some money. #longlivechainsaw
I miss being able to watch the full stream of race runs.
Does anyone know people who have tuned in to the WC races that are not bike riders since Redbull took over the broadcast? it seems like they are making a NBC type sports broadcast for an audience that would prefer something more like Freecaster.
I have enough trouble convincing mountain bikers to watch it; the redbull website isn't easy to navigate or use. I'm sure it's in Redbull's marketing strategy to make it like a NBC broadcast but I'm not sure if it's working...
They're there, at the races, with the cameras. It would be rad if they live streamed the whole race just for the hell of it, even if they kept it separate from the broadcast with Rob Warner.
@CJSelig: im with you on the separate broadcast. I would even pay to have something more akin to a Tour DF or MotoGP info setup where all the runs were shown with the qualifying times listed and other info about the track or the racer or the weekend details were available.
@boulderbasher69: This is how it's always done. There's close to 100 men running, so can't show the women live if they want to show the final men live.
I take it back again, top 20 are live, but its not top 20 qualifiers, its 20 riders live, protected riders are included in the 20, but those that qualified in the top 20 can be pushed out of the live broadcast by protected riders.
Yep. The Claudio is so dull too, never hypes any of the riders. If someones on for a top ten, roasting corners with boulders flying everywhere, give the dude some props. I couldn't give a flying f++k if he's 3 seconds down.
MILLERTIME! Miranda Miller in fifth! Georgia and Vaea in the top 10! The kicker - three Canadian ladies in the top 10 of a World Cup, and none of them have full sponsorship. Hmmmm... Miller is the freakin' Canadian DH champion fer gawds sake...
Definitely Danny was not losing speed on the harsh bumps, while all the others were. Was it shape only? Or was his suspension setup better as well? Many riders appeared to have a bump absorption setup, which was comfy but not fast. Danny had a bike hard as hell but which flew over the bumps.
Maybe you need to be in super shape to ride such a setup, but still... I think Danny's mechanic did a great job as well!
@mrciave: not denying the bike was setup well, just like all of the top riders'.
However, no one will deny he looks to be in the best shape of his career, and I am interested in what he changed in his training regime. I can do things like that myself, but i wont ever have a World Cup mechanic working on my bike. ????
@mrciave: He said he made a few changes to his suspension setup the weekend before at Fort Bill, and Fort Bill is rough as hell, so is the perfect place to prep for somewhere like MSA. Plus, I've always admired Danny's posture on the bike. Go look at pics of him riding and he just looks super strong and composed. Probably has the core strength of a Greek God... f*cking love that dude...
@Jack-McLovin: definitely interesting, also I saw somewhere else that he's riding on the hardest side of possible Fox settings... But sure, you must be fit to ride on such a setup! Quite happy all his hard work in the gymn and on his bike is paying off.
@mrciave: Yeah, he's definitely my favourite to win. Hopefully after getting these wins he'll be even more motivated to work harder and keep up the good results!
Darnit redbull. I wait all week for this stuff, get your site together. I don't care if it's free, you've made a mint poisoning a whole population. Makes yourselves useful and get me my WC DH
Oh my god what a race, the Gwin run had me on the edge of my seat. Gz Danny. Brayton is absolutely crazy. Amazing Bruni. well what am I saying I love all of them
Amazing result for Danny Hart nice one .In regards to Rachel im sorry but she has zero competition anymore! Something needs to be done in the womens category in order to support up and coming female downhillers to increase competition. If that cant be done then mix the women with the men. Before anyone says you cant do that then you need to look at all forms of motorsport!
@Matt76 Sure, in the motorbike world, you have Vicki Golden getting X Games bronze and Laia Sanz in the top 10 of the Dakar Rally, but I'm 95% sure they were the ONLY women competing in those events, and their success is a serious outlier. Vicki managed to QUALIFY for AMA Supercross, for example, once. Ever. If a company is looking for a rider to sponsor, they're likely going to choose someone with a chance of a podium, not a one-time 40th-place qualifier, even said rider does have boobs. Beyond providing sponsorships for women already competing, I think the visibility of women's classes encourages more women to show up for their first race--especially since, unlike in motocross, the women's events actually get some press...
@ryetoast: That mabe the case in motor bikes but if you look at motor racing there has been Alice Powell Gp3, currently Tatiana Calderon GP3 is starting to do really well now that her car issues have been sorted. Pippa Mann competes at the Indy 500 and has done well in her career to get that far. There is lots of women in othet classes from karting up to GT classes that do well. All these are against the men! I saw Katy Curd race against the men at a 4x race as she had no competition in the womens and she beat a load of men.
Right, but motorbikes are more analogous to pushbikes in that rider strength is a huge factor. I'm not saying women categorically need their own class if, as in auto racing, body power is far less of a factor than strategy, experience and skill. But If physical strength and speed account for most of an athlete's success, the existence of a women's class is the only way for outstanding women athletes to get any recognition. Rachel would be buried in the back of the pack in the men's field, and I think that she is an exceptional athlete and deserves more press than she would get there.
WTF happend in section 2? I get that they want to show the exciting track features and can't cover the whole course, but it's crazy that this whole race came down to that section and we see about 0.5 seconds of them hitting the split point at the end. Generally not one to complain about overall solid (and free) coverage, but kinda crazy that it shook out this way.
Side note #1: I do kinda miss Nigel's commentary with Rob. That was just an awesome duo, but I also love Claudio. Such an upbeat, good dude. Really fun to listen to those guys every race.
Side note #2: Overall, great results. Awesome to see Danny taking down some serious wins on an already great season. Stoked to see Blenki top 10. Troy's looking solid. Luca moving up in the overall. Gwin's... Well, Gwin. MSA never disappoints.
yes, that was friggin exciting, Danny is on fire - DANNY, even my daughter,. who hates bikes was cheering on - damn close, great rides, excellent from Bruni, but damn Danny, you are back on top
Adam Brayton's run was wild! Spectacular to watch, can wait to see the man take a world cup win! Great to see Danny Hart take a second world cup win though, really tense stuff watching his run!
What happened to hill. Something is not right, either within the team or the bike. Kills it at ews so is obviously still fast and in form, but 65th 17 sec back. Something is going on
Is anyone else tired of the knee-jerk, condescending answer to the always-asked question, "what makes her so much faster than the other women?" Claudio stepped right in it today with his "Well, she rides with her fast brother" response. Surely there is a more nuanced explanation than that, and I think it really takes away from Rachel's skill and commitment to give that answer. And, by that reasoning, shouldn't Tracy H also be dominating the rest of the field?
@MtbSince84: Riiight, Claudio. What percentage of pro men DHers have sisters, and what percentage of those sisters are on track for a perfect season in the pro women's class? Let's do some statistical analysis, here...
Didnt have the option to watch the race live. So i arrange my sunday arvo to watch the event, carefully avoiding all mtb related media an friends. Open up Redbull player web site, an "Danny Hart has won the race", is plastered all over the redbull mtb web site.
Hey redbull, try providing a different menu option, so we dont have to see the results when getting to the replays. Doesn't seem very professional to me. Left a comment regarding theses points, on there feed back form. Fingers crossed.
Open invitation to all mountain biking websites: if you ditch Scribd and still post results in a timely fashion, I will go to your website for results.
As a tablet user, I have a big enough screen to have the same viewing experience as a desktop user, but Scribd will not show the full results unless I download the app. I shouldn't need the app.
Also, here is a comment from (someone who claims to be) a Scribd founder. From: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8035319 "Scribd is not designed to be a simple, lightweight way to host a PDF file. Yes, this was the original idea of Scribd 8 years ago, but we've long since left that path. @dro-cfr: I was actually pulling for Gwin also; I cant believe His Quali run was faster. This was an insane race, even Bruni... His first race back from injury WOW!!!
@dro-cfr: Gwin has set the bar so high anything less then a win is a disappointment ha ha. 2 firsts, 3 seconds, and one fourth to give him a dominate lead in the standings with one race to go is pretty damn good.
Awesome to see another american in the top 10. Luca seems like a cool guy too.
Wow what a race! So tight, so fast. Nice work Danny Hart, keeping the pressure on the field. Aaron Gwin consistent and fast, just a couple ticks back. And Loic....boom! Back in the saddle! All the top ten riding fast.
Seriously how does the UCI permit a premier sport have a broadcast partner to have such a high error rate and not get dropped. Ohhhh money. Destroying the sport one broadcast at a time.
Every rider out the gate i was hoping would win. All of them. No joke. Such a great race. Then He lays down a blazing run. Woo! "That's m' boy, Danny!" Two in a row. You can do it, Danny.
Wellllllll... I wanted to watch some kind of recap, but I guess I won't now. We got the live video to stream at work after about an hour and a half, so missed quite a bit of the action. Thanks a lot, RedBull TV.
IN OTHER NEWS... DANNY HART!!!! What a boss. So pumped for him. He also has the coolest helmet out there (WD-40 logo)!
Coverage starts at 2mins down by which time the places are decided. Been watching this for years and probably will stop this season. How to grow the sport with such poor coverage. Oh he's 5 seconds back? Yeah, whatever.
Rachel faster than here brother by 2km/ph, and faster than 98% of the elite men on the speed gun. To the Rachel haters, go suck a duck, greatest ladies mountainbiker to have ever lived.
Good race today...I wish DH racing was on every week. Man, I really want to make some runs down MSA. It has to be my favorite track. I need to make the long haul back there and have some fun.
That's it! Red bull TV froze during Danny and Aaron's runs...WTF? Your media player constantly sucks, you guys won't unleash the crazy Warner from past....I'm switching to Monster.
Danny would have won by more had he not hit just about every hole through the rock garden. His splint times were slowly increasing except through there.
Final round should be epic. Although it's going to take a lot from Danny and a big fuck up by Gwin for Aaron to not take it though.
Yup, tried the Hola fix through France, Canada, US and Estonia. I'm in the UK and they are all down. Never mind, I had a cracking day at Bike Park Wales!
Yeah, he did a bit, it's the first time I have seen him like that, he is usually such a good sport. I was just starting to warm to him but that put me off a bit.
I was thinking the same thing but it looks like he is 5th overall...but I don't think that includes this weekends results though. Surely its not that hard to update them in 24hrs UCI?
UCI has filters that allow you to sort but I am not Jedi enough to ever find them. Hadn't seen broadcast but looking forward to it this evening!
1 GWIN Aaron USA 976
3 HART Danny GBR 768
2 BROSNAN Troy AUS 765
4 MINNAAR Greg RSA 632
5 VERGIER Loris FRA 519
i had the same problem. Best I can find is on the Tissot timing page but its not got MSA points added on yet. Hopefully after the weekend it'll be updated.

I don't know, this is a lot to take in...
@Pinkbike we need an article on Danny Hart's new gym routine, as you can see he is much more in shape and its made a huge difference.
Maybe you need to be in super shape to ride such a setup, but still... I think Danny's mechanic did a great job as well!

By the sound of it the big change was that he got a training regime :p
Plus, I've always admired Danny's posture on the bike. Go look at pics of him riding and he just looks super strong and composed. Probably has the core strength of a Greek God... f*cking love that dude...

1) Use a proxy like Hola
2) Select UK
3) Sit back and enjoy
Note: seems delayed as it's currently showing top 5 women, unless that's just the reg feed delay

GOOOODDDDDD DAMNNNNNNNNNNNN Was it worth it!!! What a great race at multiple levels.
DANNNNNYYYYY HARRRRRTTTTTTT!!!!
Magnus....what a run
Should be the live link. Going in ~20 mins.
This season?
