Flare Clothing Company announce their race team for 2016.Flare’s motivation is to produce comfortable and cool clothing with fresh designs for all areas of the mountain biking world, their drive comes from the heart of the race the scene. Racers at heart, and with a real love for competition, Flare have created apparel that stands out amongst the crowd of race ‘uniforms’, and stands up to the rigorous requirements of racing. With that in mind, Flare like to test and of course showcase their clothing in real world situations, and there’s none better than the actual race circuit!
Flare is the brainchild of Hannah Myers, a female mountain biker who decided she wanted to make something different for the lady bikers of the world. ‘’I got bored of always being forced to wear pieces of kit that simply had either pink splashes on them or flowers on the back, or in some severe examples – pink flowers! I also found I couldn’t get kit that really fitted me, with a cut designed specifically for the female body meaning I was often reduced to having to wear smaller versions of the male line of clothing. That was really my motivation behind creating Flare – to produce clothing that would allow women to show their femininity but without being tacky and also allow them to be comfortable in the saddle, all day, every day,’’ said Hannah.
Hannah Myers, Director of Flare Clothing co.With Flare’s roots firmly planted in the female market, it only seemed right to offer as much support to the ladies racing arena as physically possible. Once again, they have a large female contingency in their team for 2016, right through from local cross country races to globe crossing World Enduro events. Flare really is supporting Women in mountain biking, on a global scale.
An exciting addition to the ladies line up for 2016 is full-time pro athlete, Meg Bichard – originally from the UK, Meggie now resides in New Zealand during the northern hemisphere’s winter and spends the summer months racing around the world. With a number of top spot finishes at national level races and multi-day stage events as well as a top 10 overall Enduro World series finish, Meggie has joined Team Flare as an increasingly strong contender for 2016. You’ll be able to see her at a number of Enduro World Series rounds as well as several multi-day enduro events such as the Trans Savoie, Trans Cascadia and Trans BC to name but a few.
Pro Racer, Meg Bichard. ‘‘I’m super stoked to join Team Flare this year! 2015 was hugely encouraging with results that surpassed my personal expectations but sadly ended with some bad injuries. Joining Flare for 2016 means I’ll not only be comfortable when racing but also looking great at the same time. Flare have got a wonderfully relaxed and down to earth approach, something I feel really happy to be a part of.’’ - Meg Bichard.
While venturing into the ‘Big Leagues,’ Flare will continue to show their support at all levels of racing. Having supported a number of local and national level racers for many years now, watching them grow through the ranks, Flare will continue to help racers at every level and above all keep them looking cool and comfortable. If you happen to be at any races this year and see someone representing Team Flare, be sure to go and say hi, they’re all hugely approachable and just fun-loving bikers at heart.
