She did an interview on some guy's podcast ( think it's called the New Standard Podcast), and yeah it pretty much sounded like Norco cut their funding when the Norco Factory team was created.
@pistol2ne: going by memory, I think she did race a season or two on the WC and her results were good but she wasn't blowing the field away. She claims 5 WC DH podiums (no wins) on her resume. She's accomplished so much else on the bike (bmx and 4x) that maybe she didn't feel the need to keep pushing with DH?
@pistol2ne: ok. Because I'm a crazy person (and bored) I read her old blog entries. She raced 2011 WC DH. Her qualies and results were generally in the 6-11 range including a few big crashes, and finished the year 9th overall. She didn't have a teammate as Bryn wrecked himself early that season so that probably didn't help her mindset. I'm not crazy enough to see what happened in 2012. Someone else can do that
It would be cool to see Jill Kintner race Rachel Atherton in the WC. I know Rachel is at Crankworx right now, it would've been cool to see her race the DH races
Jill, if you read this... there's always a way. If there's some scenario holding you back and it's not a personal choice not to compete again, keep trying. I know you're a big deal in the northwest circuits, but the womens world cup needs competition like you, and the young ladies coming up need more heroes to look up to. Assembling a team could give you the resources to propel to another level, you might not podium your first year but look how long Danny Hart took to get his. You got it in you and we all saw it today.
Air DH. I love that they have it because it flips A Line into something completely different and changes the difficulty of it to a nutty rocket ship race.
Can't imagine how exhausted they must be after soaking up all for thoseroff jumps.
One of my first ever DH races was Air DH. I was pretty fit at the time but I'd never done a full race run of A-Line before. Thought it would be pretty easy. I was absolutely wrecked when I got to the bottom. I also did it on my big bike which did not help!
Was the course one of the Flow Trails? If so,some riders may fair better than others... W.C.D.H. riders would be more inclined to be faster on a more technical course. When it comes to DH its not DH unless it's GNARLY!
