Hey! Such great feedback, thanks folks...seems it maybe didn't need subtitles after all! ????

I would love to combine trail riding with Scotch distillery touring. I would make a mess of myself.

Seconded. I have the opportunity to go here in a couple months and if anyone from the area could post some favorite distilleries with some favorite trails it would be greatly appreciated!

@stealthpenguin: Distilleries easy to find. What kind of trails are you looking for?
  • 3 0
@stealthpenguin: Go to some of the Speyside distilleries and ride at Aviemore. The guys at Bothy bikes are awesome if you need trails routes.

And it's a happy coincidence that the Highlands produce some of the finest whisky on the planet.

@stealthpenguin: head to Glasgow and there's a pub called the copper still, all the whisky and info you'll need for a local tour. The barman really knows his sheet.

 @adwamski: Pot Still*

 Scotland is ok Smile
Everywhere has its attraction. Here... the barron landscapes, rock, wind, real dirt, and arctic style pine forests are all fantastic.
I love this country. Working 1 hour from Torridon... I should ride it more mid week.

Imagine how much amazing it would be without the midge Smile

@mikeep: Or the cold, the wet, the damp, the early darkness 8 months a year, and the misery. But, for a week in August, fingers crossed re the rain, it's really very nice.
  • 3 0
Whisky is the tie breaker for me.

@mikeep: those wee beasts... smidge works pretty well, but nothing works 100%. It's our strategy for keeping the hills pretty empty.

Davidsimons. ... haha. I gave you a prop for that. It has snowed ever month from November. Including today. 6 months a year for the early darkness. But mid summer.... you can ride until around 2300 and for the winter we have cheap Chinese lights.

I hope that you have a great time in August over here and are planning to ride some nice trails.

It's not JUST the North West, they also do the utterly amazing Tweed Valley, home to some of the steepest wee trails known to man thanks to the local bike shop trail building guru's, they even have one named " too hard for EWS "
it was built for the EWS but they wimped out and didn't use it haha, says it all about the place
  • 3 0
There is loads if steeps around Scotland. Need to ride "too hard for EWS" at some point too see what it's about. we have some pretty steep and pretty gnarly tracks up here, like many steep and rough local tracks though, you couldn't even put a bds near them.

I've had a bit of a relapse on my annual visit to Scotland. Even just for hiking but i'm getting desperate to go back now and with my bike. If only the wife wasn't scared by blue runs.
