This series is the one.irregardless of sponsorship. Different riders are featured and interviewed. An in depth look on racing, individuals and the mountainbiking scene in all its color.
Yep, despite the overly dramatic intro, music etc. I really look forward to these because they're not just about Curtis, but about the other racers as well.
For me, that was the best one so far. Red Bull knows how to get good people behind camera and editing, they could make any sport popular, even pushing refrigerator up a hill. On the side note I can't help myself thinking that it is so sad to sit and watch other people's lives...
Beacuse it feels like I find my life so boring that I have to watch someone elses to cheer myself up. I sit here, watch it and think to myself - Oh my God they are having such a good time, travelling to places, experiecing different countries adventures, on bikes, and whenever they feel pain it always seems meaningful. I think I lost my will to live. On another hand... I may take a quick wank, it will cheer me up no end
Well for a second I thought you were going to be all serious with deep thoughts, but the ending kind of ruined that haha to your point tho thats the sad way of looking at it I see more like wow these people are doing fun stuff on there bike good for them Ill try to also make a trip to that place with some friends some time. And some time I just watch the video without thinking just because I like to see other people ride like literary just watch what they are doing on their bikes. Man we live in sweden could be worse right
Hey, it's just meant to inspire you to go riding sooner than later. Maybe even try a local race to test yourself. Remember, we are the lucky ones that have the luxury to stress our bodies and minds for fun. There are so many people out there that struggle for food or a roof over their head. Just put things in perspective and enjoy what you have.
Going to Arizona will definitely give you the skills to ride over the roots Curtis EWS #1 was damn hard! I understand this guy's position. I'm glad to see that it wasn't only a couple of riders whinging about the difficulty of these trails. Pretty much the easy stages were the DH tracks!
Not trying to be negative but sitting 67th on the EWS Standings isn't great for his sponsors... Surprised RedBull is still with him to be honest. Hopefully he can pull off a few podiums..
Sponsorship, in a broad sense is more than direct race results. Keene has a great presence on screen, and I image in person too. That goes a long way....
You know his name, that alone is worthy of sponsorship. Think about how many pro athletes are out there whom we don't even know their name. I couldn't tell you more then a few pro football players and those guys make millions.
This is an interesting intersection for Red Bull and Curtis. When this whole enduro thing started rising in popularity in North America Curtis blazed on to the scene and won a bunch of races. He was certainly the man to beat. Rightly so, he is an extremely talented rider and a great guy to boot. The perception i got was that Red Bull wanted this series to be a chronicle of how he steps into the global enduro scene (1st year EWS) and dominates. However, things didn't shake out that way. Crashes, mechanicals, off days, and the likes of Barel, Clementz, & Graves (not to mention countless others in the hunt!) all culminated in less than stellar results.
I can't imagine the mental stress Curtis battles. He knows he can do it. He has the training and skills but hasn't but together that 'complete' run. The frustration and stress must be terrible. Then on top of that you have someone filming all of this unraveling in front of you.
I think 10 years ago he might have been dropped. Sponsors used to be more results driven prior to the explosion of digital/social media. So, I think what Red Bull and Curtis have done here is quite great. They didn't dump him for the next young upstart, they pivoted. They said 'Sh!t happens' lets show them how hard this actually is and how hard these guys fight just to stay competitive.
I really hope Curtis finishes out the season strong. He works as hard as anyone else out there and has the skills. It would be cool to see him stand on the top step at one of these races.
I think it adds great perspective to how great an athlete the guys and girls doing these races are. Here's a bloke busting his arse to compete and still not getting the greatest of results nor consistency due to the competitiveness of the sport.
Great video it's some nice honest reporting and some good old bare bones reality riding story.
We've all been trough rough patches, he'll mine feels rough right now! I hope he gains some podium placements, I'll certainly been watching.
Seem's like he gets a lot of attention for a guy sitting 67th in the EWS standings. Little media attractiveness bias going on? Richie, get a stylist then Red Bull will pay you a bunch of money!
Richie Rude I predict will get montruous offert to move to specialized next season... So he ll defenetly will be close to this series and to RB helmet...
Put on a RB helmet and factory specialized jersey and people will think you're a threat for world domination even if you are way off the pace, and have been for seasons..
Good inspirational stuff, but hearing voices is that not getting crazy? what ever work right? I think you have to be a bit crazy to want to win that bad
