Once again Pinkbike, PLEASE GET RID OF SCRIPD. It's completely crap
  • 41 1
Sribds or whatever it is, is bloody awful !
  • 40 1
YES PLEASE...plain text and a picture is all you need and we'll be all happy campers..
  • 7 2
I want see races with green time. Not all reds after Gwin like last year.
  • 15 2
@panchoy said text and pictures we are all capable of a pinch zoom but scribd works horribly on mobile unless you go to their "proprietary" viewing platform.

Please text and pictures.

Sever your ties with them you are not helping the community.
  • 43 15
I'm apparently in the minority here...but I like scrib'd. Works fine for me.
  • 9 4
I've had issues in the past but works fine for me. I can pinch zoom and scroll. Maybe it's your devices?
  • 11 4
Yes PB please get rid, it's bloody awful on mobiles.

  • 2 2
@pancakeflatted: Agreed. It is useful for keeping records.
  • 6 8
 Scribt is so great
  • 5 1
@pancakeflatted: yup, It sucked in the past but it works perfectly now.
  • 3 1
@pancakeflatted: Same here. Makes me wonder what people are browsing this on.

@Pininator: blackberry of course! What, isn't everybody??
  • 4 0
@ruvehado: of course she does, is she a hooker or something ?

@fedz: She works on a computer. That's called a porn star.

@MANA624: no it says "she uses" "his" Facebook account. As if she's using the friends (aka the moms boy or girl's) Facebook account. Is this a pimp ring using your own children? Now that's a new low.

f*cking scribd doesn't work for me... Downloaded the crappy app, but when I tap on view in app it opens the f*cking App Store... And it takes like 20 more clicks ... WTF? Frown

Why are you using scripd Pinkbike. You are obviously stupid as fuck as people told you last season to get rid of it and it's still here. WTF!!

Rachel crashed for sure ... Smile
  • 13 5
Both impressive then. Tahnee for being the fastest qualifier, Rachel for still qualifying second despite a crash.
  • 22 0
 @vinay: Tahnee crashed too.
  • 4 0
@banjberra: Thanks. Wow, so even the ones on the top spot are crashing there. You'd say they are familiar with slippery conditions, seeing as they both live in Wales now. Much respect for racing a course like that.
  • 67 2
Glad to see fear on and fairclough up there!!
  • 11 0
Fearon is the go man. Hope he gets on the podium
  • 7 1
Really hope Fearon gets his win. Would love to see Fairclough podium too:
  • 20 0
@Turboute: Say what you want boys but Eddie's got this one. He's crouched to kill in 14th and legend has it he's mastered some special over the tape lines
  • 6 1
 Yeah Brendog!!!!!
  • 1 0
Yeah indeed, but at the same time I'm not sure whether I should be happy or not seeing so many favourites way down on the list. Even Greg Minnaar and Sam Hill don't get near the top ten yet at the same time of course anyone in there deserved it. Still I would like to see Ruaridh Cunningham higher up there someday. He was the first British male World Champion, he looked cool in the Earthed video, surely he still has it nowadays?
  • 56 1
STEVE PEAT IN THE FINALS !!!!
  • 2 5
 How did he get in?
  • 18 0
@jaame: Qualified top 80 which means he races tomorrow, with not being a protected rider this season, he needs to be top 80 to race on sunday, below that, a DNF or DNS in qually will see him sitting out sundays activities.

Chuffed he'll be in the race tomorrow, i'll be happy to see him place top 20, but with just over 30 seconds covering the top 80 riders, its not going to be an easy task, but never count out Peaty!
  • 11 0
I want to see him finish his last worldcup series top 5
  • 2 1
@steve45: Did the UCI not reduce the number who race on Sunday for 2016 down from 80?
  • 2 2
@sexley: I was under the impression he failed to get enough qualification points beforehand. Is he racing in UK colours?
  • 3 0
 @sexley: Taken from UCI regs

4.5.027 The downhill competition must include a qualifying round and a final.
The top 80 men elite, top 20 women and top 30 men juniors from the qualifying rounds
qualify for the finals.
  • 1 0
 @jaame: that's what I heard
  • 1 1
@sexley: Still 80, although it looks like it will be 81 since the two racers at the 80th position have the exact same time.
  • 2 0
@jaame: going by the videos i've seen of the qualy he looks to be wearing GB colours, looks as though he's been entered as one of British Cycling nominated riders.
  • 2 0
The syndicate is a factory team this year after the UCI relaxed their clothing rules. Wouldn't that allow Peaty to gain entry?
  • 3 0
@mattsnz: nah dosnt work like that, just because a rider is part of a team dosnt entitle them to race, need to have 30 UCI points to be able to compete at a UCI run event, points that can be acheived through racing officially sanctioned national or international races.
Or as it appears to have happened, the national cycling body, in this case British Cyling, can nominate 3 riders to be entered.
  • 3 0
@Pininator: Yeah, I noticed that as well. If you thought it could be tight at the top in DH, it is now actually getting tight at that all important 80th spot. It will be 82 elite male racers tomorrow though, as Remi Thirion had a DNF but he's a protected rider. I don't know how it works with junior female racers. It seems like they all just qualify.
  • 50 1
Come on brenbog! Good to see 6th, man I really want him to win a race
  • 12 1
D'oh! brendog, stupid iPad auto correct
  • 13 0
@Imnukepf: Your iPad corrected it to brenbog??
  • 36 0
I just love the abilities Brendog has. Hits huge ramps at Rampage and manages to put his ass in the top 10 here, far better than the most of the dh riders. Not to mention his big smile. Rock on dude!
  • 29 2
And I'm stoked for the Ratboy. So glad he returned.

@jclnv: I hope so, with all that mud, who wouldn't want to be?
  • 71 1
It's likely going to be Gwin vs Bruni all season. Who will take the overall win in the end? Well, it's not so black and YT.
  • 13 0
@aoneal: you know what. I usually hate the pun comments but that's pretty good.
  • 4 0
@haallinson: ... I think Ratboy will have something to say as well, 2nd place today Smile
  • 6 2
I hope Aaron doesn't win tbh. Gets boring when one person dominates all season, would be nice for it to be mixed up a bit. But Loic was very close to Aaron last season, which probably motivated him a lot to train hard. But we'll see. I'm rooting for Gee and Brycland of course, but Loic as well!!
  • 1 0
what happened to Gwin on this quali
  • 4 2
My money's on ratboy he's got more talent than everyone else.
  • 2 0
 @JoseBravo: crashed.
  • 1 0
@jclnv: thanks, I hope he has a clean run tomorrow
  • 4 1
@JoseBravo: he crashed yet still managed 10th. Guys insane
  • 2 0
@dbiker22: yeah, but Bruni is way faster, I get he crashed and might have taken things more easy on the rest of the run, but if you look closely at the first split Bruni was 1.373 seconds faster, between the first and the second split Gwin crashed and lost 7.241 seconds to Bruni, between the third and the second Lolo was again 1.641 seconds faster, and betweent the third split and the finish Gwinny was 2.046 seconds slower.

looks like now I have autism haha
  • 3 0
 tl;dr
between start and first split, Bruni 1.373 seconds faster
between 1st and 2nd split, Bruni 7.241 seconds faster
between 2nd and 3rd split, Bruni 1.641 seconds faster
between 3rd split and finish, Bruni 2.046 seconds faster.
  • 1 0
@JoseBravo: Gwin had the fastest speed trap, btw...just saying Smile
  • 1 0
@wasea04: So? still lost by 12 seconds. The crash might have only cost him 7 seconds. He probably just slipped and went off course or something, and had to clip back in.
  • 23 1
I can see it now - I'll be 88 in an old folks home screaming at the computer "push it, push it, pedal, pedal!" That'll turn the ladies on.

  • 4 1
C'mon girls!!!! Top 5 is just a bit further!!! Big Grin
  • 23 0

  • 7 1
 @renio: i am indeed Wink
  • 2 1
@Bruccio: I'm happy for you too and keeping fingers crossed for our Polish wonderboy Slawomir Lukasik. No girls from Poland sadly...
  • 1 0
@renio: i have to be honest: i still have to find a community of sport fans like the mtb one: we all have our favorites but in the end we cheer up anyone who goes down tha track, may he be Aaron Gwin or the guy that qualified in 55th place, american, italian, german british or whatever. i guess that reflect the amount of enthusiasm for this sport and makes the community more like a brotherhood.

hmmm theres a lot in there...hart 3rd at the first split then must have had an issue....thirion dnf....Marc beaumont didnt qualify which is a bummer....gwin must have also had issues...looks like loic was the only one to have a consistent run....5 sec is a lot of time for everyone else though And i knew Gee would be fast on trek braap!
  • 9 0
!!! those junior men times compared to elite women !!!
  • 9 0

  • 1 0

  • 2 0
 @JulianD: Top 30
  • 1 0
 @malbo: Thanks Smile
  • 32 23
Bet Gwin wants his Specialised back..
  • 35 3
 shots fired!
  • 8 1
@danmr - little too soon I'd guess, but I'm not one to think it's going to be Gwin's year...and I'm an admitted Gwin fan. There's a lot of intangibles in switching bikes that may make it difficult for him to be as consistent as last year. We'll see!

Stoked to see Smith, Brosnan and Bruni killing it once again!
  • 27 5
Guys it's qualifications... Gwin never goes full on til later
  • 35 1
@danmr Given that Gwin crashed and still put in a top 10, I'd say he isn't doing too bad for a new bike
  • 7 1
@andnyleswillriot: aaaand he got the exact same time in Timed training..coincidence or consistency!?
  • 3 0
@danmr- I bet he doesn't. See his comment about his Demo after his chainless run. If he wins tomorrow, I believe they said he would be the first in history to do so on a new bike. So I would expect him not to win, but start coming on strong later in the season.
  • 2 0
@andnyleswillriot: he will be on a poduim at least if not a win..top10 with a new bike? Thats scary...
  • 3 0
2nd at the first split before something happened and fastest recorded speed, safe to say something happened there. minaar and thirion also look like they had a mishap in qualis... tomorrow will be insane
  • 7 0
Don't forget, Gwin DQ'd in qualies here last year and destroyed it on Sunday.
  • 23 0
New bike theory is bogus, did you already forget that Bruni is on a new bike this year?
  • 10 0
@tim-from-pa: as well as Gee and Rachy.
  • 3 0
But he has the best top speed.
  • 3 1
@haallinson: It's a joke man, Gwin to YT was a sensible move
  • 1 0
@tim-from-pa: I didn't forget. It is possible history could be made from any number of riders including Bruni, Gee, Bulldog, etc , But if the stats are true then it is not bogus. Numbers don't lie. It is a hard obstacle to overcome.
  • 2 0
@Rubberelli: April 2011. Aaron Gwin wins first World Cup of the season on his new Trek. Won four other races that year too.
  • 5 1
@Rubberelli: the new-bike theory is completely bs and only fed by the marketing-machinery. Reality totally speaks against it. Its just that weekend-warriors want to believe that the latest and greatest standard will make them this much faster while in realiy pros switch sponsors the whole time and their performance doesn't reflect that but their training, fitness and headgame
  • 5 12
flag jack-aldred (Apr 9, 2016 at 12:09) (Below Threshold)
I kinda hope Aaron doesn't win. Firstly it just gets boring if one person dominates, but secondly I just don't respect his choices I suppose. He was already on a PHAT pay check, seeing as he drives a $180k Porsche, and gets his motorbikes, push bikes, parts etc. all for free. But he 'must' have more money...
I personally don't respect that. I know he's a great rider, but Downhill has never been about the money, it's been about having fun. This isn't football.
  • 1 0
@zojdson: Why are the timed traing times so much better than the qualifying, i.e. Bernard Kerr did 3.22 on timed training.
  • 2 0
@herzalot:It is total bullshit. Haha. Was it warner who was saying it?
  • 4 0
Wow...some names you'd expect to see higher up not where they tend to be. Others that are usually further down the ranks near the top. The weather has a funny way of mixing up the standings. That said, I'm freaking out in anticipation of tomorrow's race!!
  • 9 0
 Thirion is DNF ?
  • 1 0
Lets hope its just a mechanical
  • 1 0
 Is he a protected rider?
  • 2 0
 @HookDesigns: I don't think he is. It's just top 10 isn't it ?
  • 1 0

@evildos: top 20 im fairly sure are protected.
  • 2 0
@speedyjonzalas: That's good news, then Wink
  • 3 0
 @evildos: top 20
  • 7 0
@ka-brap: Yes he's protected. He took the start and just went off the track straight up. He fell yesterday and hurt his wrist a bit. Didn't want to take any risk.
  • 5 0
@HookDesigns: he's protected. On the results sheets posted there is a "p" on the left hand column to let you know which riders are protected.
  • 1 0
@HookDesigns: @HookDesigns: yes, look at the time table, he DNFed but at the right it has a "Q" which stands for????
  • 10 0
@raschaa: *raises hand* Qualified ? Smile
  • 2 0
@evildos: give the man a cookie Wink
  • 5 0
Minnaar was quicker in timed training - good enough for 5th in quali's but he's 34th. Not reading too much into this other than Loic will kill it if he rides the same tomorrow...
  • 2 0
 Crash?
  • 2 1
Conditions must have turned even further south. Lots of good riders are having poor qualies.
  • 1 1
Be sure that Greg will stand for it tomorrow. And we all know Loic... He can pull the run of the season, or crash hard as f***.
  • 7 0
What happened with Eliot jackson? Whats with the timings? Did he fall during the run?
  • 2 0
 He had a big crash
  • 3 0
@cameronumf: oh maaan, i hope hes ok. He did so well last year, i have high hopes for him this year!
  • 3 0

this is copied from him on instagram:
Another visit to Lourdes another huuuugee crash ????. Can't tell you how happy I am to be OK after that, especially after last year! I know I'm riding good so definitely excited to get to the next one. Thanks for all of the encouragement and support you guys!!
  • 1 0
@cameronumf: does he not even get to race this one because of that?
  • 1 0
 @poundsand: i think so, a bummer aye
  • 8 1
Great to see Stevie back on top!
  • 7 0
What happened to beaumont? Such a bummer to not ser him qualify
  • 7 0
C'mon Red Bull, make sure your crew films Hill and Minaar's runs!
  • 1 0
and Thirion!!! and maybe a little of Steve Peat
  • 1 0
Wouldnt worry too much about Hill, qualis are good, but not always a sign of things to come! Saying that if Loic can stay healthy this year and Rat both are going to very hard to beat, could be an epic battle of epic proportions which we need last real year we had that was GM vs Gee in 2010! but field looks good. Unless he's hurt, I suspect Hill to pull the stops off come race run, as with some of the other mature guys on cruise mode!
  • 5 0
Angel Suarez not make the cut?

  • 3 1
There must be something wrong with the womans times.. I mean 2 minutes behind with number 26..?? WTF
May someone explain this to me please?
  • 3 1
Or half an hour in timed training???
The track walks are faster...
  • 3 0
Take a look at the absence of team names next to most of the women's names. That (lack of support) may go some way to explain the gap.
  • 1 0
There just isn't the same depth of talent in the womens. It's lack of numbers. Gaps are comparatively large, even in the top five, where all riders are fully supported.
  • 1 0
For exeple alizee arthus crashed 3 times ... this explains betterthe 2 minutes... and then top5 is already at 30seconds. big gaps because of big difference of training and support.
  • 1 0
True.. But the timed training results.. even people who never did Downhill would be faster carrying their bike..
  • 4 1
Shame for finn, look like he crashed, it's second at split 3 by less than a second

Protected rider, so he just had to cross the beam at the start gate. He tweaked his wrist in practice the day prior, so he's saving it for finals...which I hope he smashes since he's on my fantasy team this week.
