@MANA624: no it says "she uses" "his" Facebook account. As if she's using the friends (aka the moms boy or girl's) Facebook account. Is this a pimp ring using your own children? Now that's a new low.
f*cking scribd doesn't work for me... Downloaded the crappy app, but when I tap on view in app it opens the f*cking App Store... And it takes like 20 more clicks ... WTF?
@banjberra: Thanks. Wow, so even the ones on the top spot are crashing there. You'd say they are familiar with slippery conditions, seeing as they both live in Wales now. Much respect for racing a course like that.
@Turboute: Say what you want boys but Eddie's got this one. He's crouched to kill in 14th and legend has it he's mastered some special over the tape lines
Yeah indeed, but at the same time I'm not sure whether I should be happy or not seeing so many favourites way down on the list. Even Greg Minnaar and Sam Hill don't get near the top ten yet at the same time of course anyone in there deserved it. Still I would like to see Ruaridh Cunningham higher up there someday. He was the first British male World Champion, he looked cool in the Earthed video, surely he still has it nowadays?
@jaame: Qualified top 80 which means he races tomorrow, with not being a protected rider this season, he needs to be top 80 to race on sunday, below that, a DNF or DNS in qually will see him sitting out sundays activities.
Chuffed he'll be in the race tomorrow, i'll be happy to see him place top 20, but with just over 30 seconds covering the top 80 riders, its not going to be an easy task, but never count out Peaty!
4.5.027 The downhill competition must include a qualifying round and a final. The top 80 men elite, top 20 women and top 30 men juniors from the qualifying rounds qualify for the finals.
@jaame: going by the videos i've seen of the qualy he looks to be wearing GB colours, looks as though he's been entered as one of British Cycling nominated riders.
@mattsnz: nah dosnt work like that, just because a rider is part of a team dosnt entitle them to race, need to have 30 UCI points to be able to compete at a UCI run event, points that can be acheived through racing officially sanctioned national or international races. Or as it appears to have happened, the national cycling body, in this case British Cyling, can nominate 3 riders to be entered.
@Pininator: Yeah, I noticed that as well. If you thought it could be tight at the top in DH, it is now actually getting tight at that all important 80th spot. It will be 82 elite male racers tomorrow though, as Remi Thirion had a DNF but he's a protected rider. I don't know how it works with junior female racers. It seems like they all just qualify.
I just love the abilities Brendog has. Hits huge ramps at Rampage and manages to put his ass in the top 10 here, far better than the most of the dh riders. Not to mention his big smile. Rock on dude!
I hope Aaron doesn't win tbh. Gets boring when one person dominates all season, would be nice for it to be mixed up a bit. But Loic was very close to Aaron last season, which probably motivated him a lot to train hard. But we'll see. I'm rooting for Gee and Brycland of course, but Loic as well!!
@dbiker22: yeah, but Bruni is way faster, I get he crashed and might have taken things more easy on the rest of the run, but if you look closely at the first split Bruni was 1.373 seconds faster, between the first and the second split Gwin crashed and lost 7.241 seconds to Bruni, between the third and the second Lolo was again 1.641 seconds faster, and betweent the third split and the finish Gwinny was 2.046 seconds slower.
tl;dr between start and first split, Bruni 1.373 seconds faster between 1st and 2nd split, Bruni 7.241 seconds faster between 2nd and 3rd split, Bruni 1.641 seconds faster between 3rd split and finish, Bruni 2.046 seconds faster.
@wasea04: So? still lost by 12 seconds. The crash might have only cost him 7 seconds. He probably just slipped and went off course or something, and had to clip back in.
@renio: i have to be honest: i still have to find a community of sport fans like the mtb one: we all have our favorites but in the end we cheer up anyone who goes down tha track, may he be Aaron Gwin or the guy that qualified in 55th place, american, italian, german british or whatever. i guess that reflect the amount of enthusiasm for this sport and makes the community more like a brotherhood.
hmmm theres a lot in there...hart 3rd at the first split then must have had an issue....thirion dnf....Marc beaumont didnt qualify which is a bummer....gwin must have also had issues...looks like loic was the only one to have a consistent run....5 sec is a lot of time for everyone else though
And i knew Gee would be fast on trek
braap!
@danmr - little too soon I'd guess, but I'm not one to think it's going to be Gwin's year...and I'm an admitted Gwin fan. There's a lot of intangibles in switching bikes that may make it difficult for him to be as consistent as last year. We'll see!
Stoked to see Smith, Brosnan and Bruni killing it once again!
@danmr- I bet he doesn't. See his comment about his Demo after his chainless run. If he wins tomorrow, I believe they said he would be the first in history to do so on a new bike. So I would expect him not to win, but start coming on strong later in the season.
2nd at the first split before something happened and fastest recorded speed, safe to say something happened there. minaar and thirion also look like they had a mishap in qualis... tomorrow will be insane
@tim-from-pa: I didn't forget. It is possible history could be made from any number of riders including Bruni, Gee, Bulldog, etc , But if the stats are true then it is not bogus. Numbers don't lie. It is a hard obstacle to overcome.
@Rubberelli: the new-bike theory is completely bs and only fed by the marketing-machinery. Reality totally speaks against it. Its just that weekend-warriors want to believe that the latest and greatest standard will make them this much faster while in realiy pros switch sponsors the whole time and their performance doesn't reflect that but their training, fitness and headgame
I kinda hope Aaron doesn't win. Firstly it just gets boring if one person dominates, but secondly I just don't respect his choices I suppose. He was already on a PHAT pay check, seeing as he drives a $180k Porsche, and gets his motorbikes, push bikes, parts etc. all for free. But he 'must' have more money... I personally don't respect that. I know he's a great rider, but Downhill has never been about the money, it's been about having fun. This isn't football.
Wow...some names you'd expect to see higher up not where they tend to be. Others that are usually further down the ranks near the top. The weather has a funny way of mixing up the standings. That said, I'm freaking out in anticipation of tomorrow's race!!
@ka-brap: Yes he's protected. He took the start and just went off the track straight up. He fell yesterday and hurt his wrist a bit. Didn't want to take any risk.
Minnaar was quicker in timed training - good enough for 5th in quali's but he's 34th. Not reading too much into this other than Loic will kill it if he rides the same tomorrow...
@poundsand: he said hes very happy that hes ok. this is copied from him on instagram: Another visit to Lourdes another huuuugee crash ????. Can't tell you how happy I am to be OK after that, especially after last year! I know I'm riding good so definitely excited to get to the next one. Thanks for all of the encouragement and support you guys!!
Wouldnt worry too much about Hill, qualis are good, but not always a sign of things to come!
Saying that if Loic can stay healthy this year and Rat both are going to very hard to beat, could be an epic battle of epic proportions which we need last real year we had that was GM vs Gee in 2010!
but field looks good.
Unless he's hurt, I suspect Hill to pull the stops off come race run, as with some of the other mature guys on cruise mode!
There just isn't the same depth of talent in the womens. It's lack of numbers. Gaps are comparatively large, even in the top five, where all riders are fully supported.
For exeple alizee arthus crashed 3 times ... this explains betterthe 2 minutes... and then top5 is already at 30seconds. big gaps because of big difference of training and support.
yhha peaty is in the game.....i have a feeling that bruni got some major boost in speed and thrill with his championship jersey....it was very clear on crankworks...
How long before fearon gets a ride with the big teams, top lad.
I love my konas but Id eat my own face if it's as good a bike as the others for out right speed
from redbull site "Aaron Gwin (Specialized Racing) who had emerged into the finish having obviously had an off-track excursion. Apparently he'd crashed and not re-entered at the point which he had left prompting a 'DSQ' from the session. As a protected rider, Gwin will start the race tomorrow however."
EDIT: Just kidding pulled last years info from redbull
Protected rider, so he just had to cross the beam at the start gate. He tweaked his wrist in practice the day prior, so he's saving it for finals...which I hope he smashes since he's on my fantasy team this week.

looks like now I have autism haha

May someone explain this to me please?
The track walks are faster...
