Worldclass bmx racer, tested himself at a few mtb races the past few years.
It would be great if pinkbike also included bmx race news, it is so under-represented in the media.
@Murraybmx: Yeah, so were Jill KIntner and Caroline Buchanan. Anne Caro Chausson won (held my breath when Shanaze Reade tried to take her out in a horrible move). Didn't Mike Day race 4X as well?
he was on the Cover DECLINE the one that had a 3d cover about a year ago when he got on the DH Team from BMX .That was Him In California up in crestline
The race doesn't count for much so you hit the 3 jumps on the top to show off and then pull off the track before the fun runs out.
They aren't there to podium or race they are there to represent their brands and have fun, realistically you cant do both you have to focus on one or the other.
I raced and it wasted inordinate amounts of time I would rather have been at the festival or watching another race
@jewpowered: Their mind works differently apparently. To me once you've taken the uplift, waited for your turn to eventually have a piece of trail free for you to ride, I can't see how it would be more of a waste of time compared to pulling over while you're actually riding. If this is the case, I'd more suspect they'd rather have a DNF on the scoreboard than a (relatively) slow time. Then again I can't see Sam Reynolds care about that at all.
Maybe I'm not getting the point of the festival indeed. To me it seems like if you have a whole team making sure you can ride there, you'd better just do so.
@vinay: As i said many are representing brands/sponsors, maybe they won't be competitive in the DH but they focus on the dual slalom or pumptrack challenge etc.
The race course is meh and my race was 1.5hrs past my start time, not to mention the shuttle up can also be time consuming.
Cam Zink, Sam Reynolds, Kyle Strait, and Brian Lopez, none of these people are racers, their sponsors should care more about their fan followings
Be great at Sea Otter had a DH Legends of Legends race, bikes all same, specc sus tires etc, Intense Tracers or something, invite likes of Tomac, Carter, Lopes, Cullinan, Kirkildie, Henderson, Day, Rockwell, Palmer, Herbold, Ronning, Rennie etc sry to any missed, all to compete for fun but with those dudes always competiton, but keep it level no individual sponsors only event sponsors, be amazing spectacle, prob event of the week, maybe why it wont happen, show up the current crop too much, but I reckon it would be amazing! Bring out the old helmets but leave the lycra in the closet, though so,e of those old suits would be funny as hell too, anything to spice it up!
they already do this with the kamikaze legends DH but i agree that they should also do this at sea otter DH as well! i believe there is a legends class in the dual slalom.
I hadn't raced there in 10 years. The course is so much funner, flowier, jumpier than it used to be. However the 3 sets of tables before the finish line are an annoyance to my lung sucking.
?
Renner is there frequently as well
they both have fast kids
