I am predicting Gwin breaks his front axle on the first drop, loses his front wheel, then manuals down the entire course to beat Danny Hart out of his first WC win by .0002 seconds.
To be fair though, losing the front wheel would dramatically reduce his unsprung and rotational weight, while increasing the rear shocks action, so it would be easier. If he lost his front wheel AND his chain he'd be fucking unstoppable that rear shock would be so nice
If they had a WC on either easter or Christmas then Gwin wouldn't even need wheels, tires, or a frame, he's just hold some handlebars and stand on some pedals and hammer down the course.
It's unlike Gwin to throw down a fast timed training, maybe he is trying to make a statement. Can't tell much from timed training, I know, but I think you can tell already how tight the times are going to be.
My understanding is that he's usually spending a lot of time stopping at different sections and trying different lines. Does this mean that he's got his lines figured out already?
Either he has his lines dialed already or maybe the track is just pretty straight forward. From the course previews it didn't look like there was much in the way of huge tech sections or line variations. Looks like its going probably going to be a matter of who has the balls to just pin it the fastest.
Yea I believe you have to have a certain ranking to be included in the timed training. I remember a few races ago Steve Smith was out timed training because he missed the first race.
Rachel Atherton will get a better time. That moron course marshal should've been waving the RED flag, not the Yellow. Lucky she didn't get hurt in that road gap incident with the van and dude walking across a hot track!
All good - I did see that "thing" on the top left.
Regardless, that's the job of the course/corner marshals to coordinate and display the appropriate flag. It still should've been a red flag for her to stop.
Gwin, Hart and a couple others just did 1run. Feeling comfortable with the layout, and Gwin probably has every camera on him, and has a set line. Not giving that up.
Oh man! I did not see that the first time! So gap over a van, under a flying helicopter and barely miss the guy standing on the knuckle. Quite the jump! Hopefully her race run is less eventful and she can pull off a win
I doubt she was anywhere near the gondola, there's no way they'd put a jump through the path of the lift; someone would absolutely hit it. She's about a foot away from landing on that guy, hence the reaction.
Dude, you have to be living under stone.... this question was answered billions of times so far Rat and Minnaar as Steve are still on SCS team, however for this year, they are not official UCI Trade team, which means no name of team on start list.
