The Gravity Cartel, which is the US sales and service office for Spank Industries and iXS Protective gear, has signed Eric Carter. “EC” will be racing on Spank components and iXS helmets, pads and clothing for this year as well as being an ambassador to the brands at events throughout the southern California area and beyond. Eric will also be helping the brands with R&D testing on new products that are in the works from both companies.

Victor Sandrin the Gravity Cartel US Sales Manager, said “I have known of Eric through racing for a long time, and on a more personal level for the past 3 years, and he is the ultimate pro! Always willing to talk to fans, give advice to young racers and is a great ambassador to the sport. When we started talking more about him riding for us I could tell he understood the business side of this sport better than most and what brands need from a guy like him. I am really excited to bring him on board and have his help in building the brand awareness in the SoCal market, as well as input on new product coming down the pipeline! He has already scored a win at the Legends Slalom at Sea Otter which was his first official race for us!

Eric Carter looking fast and fit as ever. First in the Legends class.

Eric Carter said “At this stage of my cycling career I feel the most important thing is to align myself with people I know and trust and working with solid companies that I believe offer long term relationships. When Victor at The Gravity Cartel asked me to be a part of the family the decision was easy. Knowing Victor, his work ethic and the integrity he possess made the decision simple. The current lines of Spank Components and IXS Protective Gear are solid brands that are gaining traction in the North American markets. The process of how these products go from concept to market place allows for a quick development timeline and product revision to continually meet consumer demands.”

Carter also says “One of my favorite parts of working with companies is the product development phase, we have already been working on some really cool revisions to current products and I’m excited to see the roll out. I’m looking forward to what the future holds and being a part of the continued growth of The Gravity Cartel, Spank and IXS. Plus I’m really looking forward to hitting some events on the bike this year.

Eric has a full schedule of events and rides that he will be participating in and new products coming down the pipeline will undoubtedly have the “EC” stamp of approval. Eric is also an outside sales rep for Marin Bikes, so shops will be sure to see Eric and his Spank equipped bikes and iXS gear all over southern California.

We have worked with EC for so damn long, I can't even count the years!...from painting his helmets early on, to operating his own team we worked on back in the 90s, to working with him as a legends champion. It's been a hell of a ride, that I have enjoyed, a lot. We knew this opportunity came up for Eric, and I always want what's best for my friends. So this is a great path for EC, he will do well with this sales role and brand ambassador, They are so lucky to have him. Congrats, see you on the trail! ..... Troy Lee.

Glad to see there were no bitter feelings with his departure from Tld..

This is why every pro rider loves to be on Troy Lee gear! Because Troy is a great person and class act. I am stoked to have Eric on board and we have big plans for him. Riders like him don't come around often and yes we are extremely lucky to have been able to bring him into the family. Looking forward to the future!

This right here is why I only wear tld^ you don't see these kinds of comments from other companies.

Seems like people jump around every few years in this industry, so it's probably best to maintain relationships and not blow people off. TLD is a classy example.

The folks at Troyleedesigns are class acts…I have so many good friends over there. I have said it before.. Without Troy I am not sure if I would still be racing or even involved with MTB's… In 96 I sat in his office as he called all the companies that I had tried to get support from and got either a no or a no call back.

In his words to them..."I'm starting a MTB team and I need you guys to get behind it"

Jimmy Kight, Jimmy Deaton and I were the team and we had a lot of fun… In classic TLD style.

Troy, Thank you so much for the support and kind words.

EC has always come off as a gracious competitor and good family man, nice of former sponsors to acknowledge that. Seems like a cool industry.

Glad to see Eric get another home after the Specialized fiasco.

What actually happened with that? I didn't even realize he wasn't running that team anymore.

Basically, they got a new guy in charge of that segment of the company that wanted an uber-professional, not a relaxed leader.

Specialized seem like the sort of company that would fund a campaign by Lance Armstrong for president of the UCI.

Yes and if they didn't get what they want, they would sue. I better be careful or special Ed might sue me for slander.

If it's written word, then it would be "libel" not slander.
