only 214 days until the whistler bike park opens. braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap.
  • 5 2
"only" lol, it's like an eternity!
  • 51 0
you know what eternity is? the time it takes for a YT bike to arrive...
  • 4 1
@hutchjr...I'd add "any new mtb". Besides Santa cruz, and intense, majority come out with a new bike and have a release date; maybe u can get one 3-6months later.
  • 3 0
I read your comment a minute ago... still laughing
I checked the website every day... maybe it comes a week earlier... nope Big Grin
  • 2 1
 but YT still unbelievably late...

I got mine in less than 10 days!

 PEDALING! STOP! PEDALING... STOP!

is it like a hybrid version of red light green light? this trail looks incredible. cannot wait either. CHAINSAW RETURNS!

Have a look here and you'll actually get to read the writeup that goes with this video:
dirtmountainbike.com/videos/lourdes-2015-uci-dh-world-cup-track-laurie-greenland.html

It'll allow you to make more sense of the video rather than just watching it here with no explanation Smile

Pedaling..... Stop! Ahhh that makes sense now!

Looks nice and rough, but a bit meandering towards the end. Definitely not "bike-park", that's for sure. Others have mentioned that the course may change as things progress. Could be a nice old school track.
  • 4 0
It is a bit meandering near the end, but I think the rider made it look worse since it looks like he got lost and took a few wrong turns if I compare it to the Coupe de France course.

i am quite dissapointed that most of the new wc tracks don't have any proper jumps, even 2 or 3 bigger hits would make them far more interesting.
  • 5 1
Pietermaritzburg has tons of jumps, and it doesn't make it more interesting :p
  • 3 2
its dh racing, not a dirt jump competition. Natural gaps yes, but in my opinion a long straight with a load of man made kickers in a line has nothing to do with dh
  • 3 0
i am not a fan of bikepark type tables in a row, but it looks like tracks these days are bit too natural (i love natural stuff). i would love to see more double or tripple jumps or anything that would differ riders by style aproach to jumping, also i guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to chalange riders with 40-50ft jumps.
i believe that whole jumping thing is a big part of mountain biking and especialy gravity racing
  • 6 1
I can see where you are coming from I guess. I agree all skills should be tested, and being able to produce speed from pumping a landing cleanly is definitely a worthy skill in a dh riders bank, but I don't really see how a 50ft man made double is any more challenging than a 20 ft man made double. The price is higher if you screw it up yeah, but I don't think that there are any riders in the top 20 that let fear of crashing even enter their heads on a race run. I disagree completely when you say tracks these days are "too natural". Over half of the tracks raced this year looked like motorways to me. I'd even go as far as saying some were boring to watch with riders just hammering along wide tracks jumping jumps that stuck them right over the landing every time. Id much prefer to see a rider fighting to maintain speed through a gnarly bastard of a section, only to be faced with a rock kicker at the end of it into a hipped landing. If you don't carry speed into the takeoff, you're not hitting the downslope of the landing. If you don't hit the downslope, you lose precious speed. Then jumping skill would really come into it as being able to manipulate the bike in the air could counteract a screwed up takeoff.

I guess its a bit like outdoor motorcross vs indoor supercross. Supercross is more about the airtime, and seems like more of a spectacle at first, but it gets samey and boring quickly. Outdoor motorcross stays interesting for longer cos its more about working the track, rather than just jackknifing the corners then pinning it at the next takeoff.

This track looks sick!!! A million miles from the shitty wide open bikepark trails I've grown used to seeing at the WC. I hope they don't remove too many trees for the cameras. Please keep it natural.
  • 2 0
Godammit! I just read the Dirt writeup. It seems they are felling loads of trees for the cameras. Bastards
  • 2 0
I was about to make a comment about it being bad for filming , let's hope hey don't go to savage with the felling.
  • 1 2
Make up your mind. Do you want to watch the riders or watch trees?
  • 1 0
I want to watch riders riding between trees, not through a field.
  • 1 0
There's a big difference in removing trees for the cameras and removing trees from the race line Wink
  • 1 0
Personally I'd prefer they didn't remove any trees and just got the best footage they could, but thats just me. I know it won't happen that way and I can deal with that.
  • 10 0
Don't know if it was me or the camera but I could not for the life of me see where he was going... maybe the sun angle... looked cool though.
  • 6 4
Most gopro, contour etc are terrible for sunny days in the trees
  • 11 0
In fairness to the cameras, its sometimes just hard to see in general in the trees on sunny days.
  • 1 0
It's the yellow on his visor, if it wasn't as bright, it wouldn't have caused the blurring effect in the light.
  • 1 0
Need to split the clip and adjust the gamma in the overexposed bits. Won't be perfect, but can be improved greatly. I have to do this to most of my GoatPro shots on sunny days in the woods.
  • 1 0
@allmountin - what software are you using?
  • 1 0
I use Adobe Premiere, but imagine others can do the same. I'm usually adjusting and splicing short clips vs adjusting parts of them, but it should work just the same.
  • 9 4
that's a goat trail. Seriously. And can they grow a tree taller than 8ft in France?
  • 5 0
Oh, hell yeah. It looks properly steep and tight in quite a few of those places! Thumbs up!
  • 4 0
Man, those rocks at the top look terrifying. Can't wait to see the boys tearing up that hill! This will make for one promising start of the season, no?
  • 6 0
 PYRENEES !!!!

Well as this was filmed for Dirt magazine I don't think it has anything to do with the UCI or Claudio
