yeah, although i was just thinking if i was one of the best freeride guys in the world, how cool would it be to pick the absolute least peddly world cup dh track and have a go at it just for fun.. maybe a top 20? maybe a top 10, you would just wish it for andreu, cause he's the steeziest around.
Agreed, wouldn't it be interesting. The freeride guys seem to hesitate less on jumps, drops and other features, think it would be interesting to put the best freeride riders against a team of World Cup DH guys and put them on a course similar to today's or Lourdes. If Cedric and Gee can compete at a high level at rampage, I could see a guy like andreau get down on a DH course...
The speed difference is huge. Look at a guy like Fairclough. Huge shredder...pretty far from the podium though. I'm not taking anything away from a talent like Lacondeguy, he's a beast. It's just a different skill set.
A few years back Thomas Vanderham raced a few world cups and qualified. I'd imagine there are a handful of top freeride guys who could qualify at the moment but the reality is that they get paid to produce content not results, so any resources they have are going towards shredding in front of a lens not getting stressed about racing.
Really fast guys are actually kind of boring to watch. Bikes going sideways and skiding over turns might look cool but that really does not mean a good race result. Watch todays minaar run and see how his bike does not wigle one bit or gwin chainless run is another great example.
Only in your dreams Andreu can have a top 20 in World Cup. All this World cup guys work every day since long time to just beating the clock. Andreu is a total shredder, but that was different speed compare to the WC riders.
Come on man,2006!If you see this vid his riding is actually very tecnical and sooooo fast.He has everything to make good results!Fairclough is one of the fastests and he's a freerider...
There should be a "pre-show" on a WC DH course(with a few extra temporary stunts built in???)...no WC riders, just the best Freerider/Video hucksters/tricksters...run one, run all...timed run. Would be a blast to watch!
I absolutely love Lacondeguy, however, riding that loose doesn't always translate into speed. George Brannigan is a perfect example of someone who can absolutely shred, but it seems to be almost too much when it comes to winning a WC.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't root for him tho...
Well You have to give a guy some respect. Seeing that much of unique moto and slope styling in riding is hard to match. Besides if you see a rider whos not afraid to take a foot off "where necessary" You never think about World Cups. As long as I know he always says "He just wants to ride and enjoy some jumps and tricks". He is clearly one of the best slopestyle riders around and got more steeze and style than anyone really. Plus the airtime and magnitude the troughs in.
Somebody like that pushes the boundaries of freeriding cause he does what he loves best. I think that Andreu should stay real to his roots and show the word what really can be done in mountain biking sport. Difference between seconds should be secondary.
The rampage run man put in was impressive...so much speed and style. Tricks he pulls in Fest series is way out of your normal imagination of throwing a dh bike around. Just a good interview to look and understand that pull that guy off dirt line is a crime. As a said give a man some respect!
loving when freeride pros do trail edits, you see a completely different style compared to dh racers. their goal on every nook and cranny is for the pure joy of getting rad. Andreu’s finesse is jaw dropping.
Y'all are praising the video, and it is awesome, but is no one else bothered that the video is sped up slightly. I mean, the dude is fast, but you can clearly tell that parts are sped up.
It's not sped up. That's the camera movement causing some tearing and because of that you think it's faster than usual. Just some shutter and optics voodoo.
I find that taking away music from a riding video and sticking with the original audio ends up giving it another dimension, making me feel like I'm on the trail too.
I WISH that La MOLINA bikepark(where this was recorded) looked as half as good as it looks in this video, hey how cool it is to have a crew fix the trails for you, I've been going for a while now and the trails there are under really poor mantenaince
Maybe I just came from there 2 hours ago and I rode the same tracks and you can see them freshly packed in the video, while in reality there's holes that's at least 1/3 of a 26 wheel
man, jespinal.I know when they filmed and the track was in normal conditions with holes, rocks, he didn't take any crew to fix the trail for the edit, trust me.
WOW even the dust blows and rocks roll faster than normal..in some spots
I wonder if they could speed up the video when he really competes....
Just saying.
More of this. MUCH more of this. No music. No spastic panning and zooming. No slo-mo crap. Just riding and the sounds of hubs spinning and tires slicing. The riding needs to look fast, not the camera work.
If racing is what Andreu wanted to do, and I'm saying if, cas it seems like he's pretty damn happy doing what he is. He could most definitely have good results. Dude is a beast that can accomplish anything he puts his mine to. 2014 Rampage said "i'm getting first or last" he killed it. Although it would have extremely interesting if AGGY was in finals. Alls I'm saying is Andreu could kill it in racing if that was is focus, but fortunately he's a freerider!
Lopi, watch all the stones rolling and dust flying at unnatural speed. There were also some birds or large insects flying past the camera at about Mach 3.
He's not a racer, he's a shredder!
I'd rather be shredding laps with the boys than keeping myself in tip top condition for 4 mins every couple of weeks!
Lacondeguy is one of the best shredders of all time, his rampage win was off the scale and he got under - scored the year before imo
I always wonder if guys like him were to enter into some races agents world cup riders. I just wonder where they would place in a race. I only wonder this because that riding was big dirty fast!!!!!
Really enjoyed the au natural sound track. Good camera positioning, clean shooting, nice edit. Well done. Take notes, camera kids..... K.I.S.S. rule, rules!
If by pc you mean politically correct then you have again poorly represented whatever point you were trying to make. PC doesnt mean what you think it means.
I like Minnar and I like Lacondeguy. All I'm saying is a man would be remiss to think they share any resemblance physically or stylistically.
Anyway you need to chill out. Peace.

In my car on the highway :-/
Both styles are awesome and I'm sure both riders have shit things with more talent than me just not a good comparison.
