I was watching it like "holly shit i had no idea how fast the elite man are" then i hear the high pitched yell and was blown away that that was a woman, she is so fast!!!
@fsomji Scary. So crazy that this is what 73rd position in the Elite Men would look like. It just shows the amount of insanity it requires to even qualify for a men's elite world cup race is thoroughly ridiculous. That Bruni is almost a minute faster than Rachel makes me feel like I ride with training wheels.
I do have to make a comment about these new smaller GoPro's as the video quality is garbage. I have an old cheapo Walmart point and shoot that takes better video! Watching other video's on Pinkbike that are filmed with actual GoPro's you are able to see what the terrain is like. With this video the image is heavily washed out and so low quality (I watched this on the 1080p setting) it is impossible to even see the rocks and roots on the trail. Glad for this kind of footage, but please switch back to using the good GoPro's. And GoPro, I hope you are reading this as some serious improvements are needed for this new little black box of junk. I do have a Hero 4 black and it is an amazing camera, so I do have something to compare against.
i use a now ancient gopro Hero. for chest mount vids.... cause its better than the new ones.. for helm cam i use a contour.. sorry to break with fashion. it simply works and looks better.
OK so why does mine, only using PB. nothing special look like soo much better then???? the new gopros are wank. they brick, they fail, they cost the earth. the promos are amazin. but far far from the original raw. as a go pro sponsored rider this is all go pro could make?? c'mon, you must admit, its a bit shit. amazing riding though.
I remember when she seemed like just a sprog chasing her two brothers, even then you knew something big was gonna come from trying to keep up with those two, and now she's deservingly one of the fastest woman on earth, if not hands down the fastest. I like Manon, but I love Rachel.
Wow, Rachel gettin rowdy! How on earth do you guys stay focused with all that spectator racket, perhaps you feed off it? I'd be wearing buds @ volume 10. Thanks for an incredible season, some of the best racing and coverage ever!
I would not be able to hold on that long at that kind of speed. Just can't.
Rachel (and the other ladies) are no slackers by any stretch of the imagination. The fact that she can continually put together a top-notch race run speaks volumes of her talent and dedication. Props!!!
She killed it for sure, interestingly she doesn't seem as winded as early in the run as Manon or Gee. Curious as to whether she really didn't push it too much or she is just 'that' fit....
In either case the speed is much more impressive here than on the live broadcast.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Imagine dating Rachel without knowing of her sports preferences and one day taking her for a little recreational bike ride...
Congratulations to the absolute champion!
That was so fast that some of my screen pixels are still scooting around looking for the finish line Damn crazy ride...woman or not. And looking at that podium, my manlitude is all lit up. Fast, furious & purtyful gals indeed
Epic win yesterday and for staying strong all season Rachel! I'd be watching that as a privateer and just go back to riding single track in my back yard!
Kudos to Rachel but I've never understood all of the comments about how fast she is and how she should race in the men elites....she was what about a minute slower than Bruni? Sorry but I just can't get excited when she's getting a similar run time to male elite riders who crash...
Congrats to Rachel on her win, she deserved it no doubt, but I can't help but wonder what the field would look like if the other women had her level of support
Pretty sure Saracen and Commencal offer their elite women excellent support. The question you should be asking is why don't Specialized/Trek/Santa Cruz/Giant/etc help support a few elite women, then there would be more competition for Rach.
Nevertheless, fact is, that she is exceptional, and IMO only ACC bests her in the all time accomplishments in DH, and she is still only 27.
I'm not gona lie, but I feel as if this gopro run was edited afterward, the speed notched up a little. I'm mean she is fast, but compared to footage I've seen before from this angle done by previous racers, it feels a little too fast. Even the cameraman in the end is running a little too fast When the camera switches to his view, then the speed is 100% Just my thoughts
You dingus, in this video she starts at around 11 seconds in and reaches the finish at around 5:19. The results say she had a time of 5:08. 5:19 - 11 = 5:08. So unless there is some kind of magic at work here I see no room for editing the video (but why would they even edit this is beyond me).
@addicted2bikez - I feel your punishment should be you have to push your bike up the hill the next time you go shuttling with your buddies. That seems like a fair sentence.

(And the new GoPros are rubbish)

If not, then she is really that fast, that is hectic! Respect to her! Would be cool to see Loic's run from this angle too
