These are some seriously tough dudes...Minnar gets that tough man award. Riding strapped in on the handlebars? That is commitment!
  • 75 6
What about gee racing with a broken wrist? Untreated!
  • 32 0
Gee was strapped too. Crazy guys
  • 23 14
 Gee is a boss!!
  • 12 0
The DH equivalent of Breaking Away. Mad props to both!
  • 6 1
Too bad for Gee the curse of the rainbow-stripes lives on!
  • 25 3
Seriously tough dudes and dudettes! Remember, those ladies are riding the same course and many of them had some gnarly falls too, but got back on their steeds and toughed it out. Tough mudders all around!

i enable the subtitle function on syncdicate video and still can't understand what's ratboy saying. at 7:28 he says praise allah drones?
  • 6 0
@chyu "It's gone from nice loam to just dust; It was a pretty solid run"
  • 2 0
 I understood that part too...
  • 1 0
@chyu - That's what the subtitles come up as??? :/
  • 1 0
hahahah no he says it's gone from nice loam to just dust.
  • 7 1
@lobohusky, right? Tracy H. separated her shoulder in her crash, and got up and finished the race.
  • 8 0
@lobohusky @gromer - She not only finished, but managed to slot onto the podium in 5th place. Mental!
  • 4 0
Agreed @gromer and @Pininator. That was a nasty spill, but she got right up and kept on going. Inspiring stuff!

Smith once had his grip for the bike built/molded ito his cast...

The beauty of world cup is how fast the riders go, which, you fail to show by playing clips in slow motion.
  • 10 3
could not agree with more. An entire clip in slow motion is worthless, an entire edit even more so. Slow mo should be used sparingly to heighten the viewing experience. A clip at full speed slowed momentarily to highlight the riders focus, or gnar of the section, is 100x more effective than the entire clip in slow mo. Speed change gives the viewer far better context and perspective. I wish this slow mo fad would stop, 95% of the time it's crap, it's blatantly lazy editing.
  • 3 2
I just don't get it . Sucking all the drama and danger right out of the scene all to show their amazing editing and flowing jerseys in the wind . Drives me crazy . They are travelling at ridiculous speeds and they slow them to a crawl.
  • 63 0
If i wanted to see slo-mo, i'd watch vids of my own riding Wink
  • 1 0
Me and you both man ! Big Grin
  • 3 0
I REALLY REALLY want to make an edit of me climbing in 100 percent slo-mo! Just to mock everyone.
  • 2 0
ha ha ha spot on @aidy

Is it not time for the teams like the syndicate and specalized etc to bring in girls? It would problay bring up the level in womens racing. At least that whats I think.
  • 7 0
Yes. Been wanting a womens Syndicate tam for awhile now...

Specialized is lacking in the gravity females, but they have Anneke Beerten in enduro, Annika Langvad and Lea Davison in XC and a few all women road teams.
  • 25 0
 Huge commitment for Minnaar...
  • 10 1
It inspired Gee to race despite a broken wrist from qualies.
  • 5 8
i have to say that gee would have been better off not racing. Riding with injuries is bad in the long term and he got nothing back from racing... He wasn't on the live feed = no exposure; and now will make his wrists worse and more prone to injury
  • 8 0
he did actually gain from it. he had to be within double the winning time to get into timed training at fort william, which he did
  • 1 4
I agree, why race and chance it, making it worse prolonging healing. For what minuscule points that might get, not worth it! I really want these two guys Gee and Greg to give that other G kid a run for his money!
  • 5 8
he got 48th, which equals 33 points. that is why i look up more to people like peaty and hill. they think about their health more than their image. He made a good call not to race. Now sam hill will be healthy at ft bill healthy (as it seems atm), and atherton will most likely be in pain, regretting what he did.
  • 12 0
Gee's decision to ride was a calculated move. Like IDHI said it was about getting a slot in timed training for Fort Bill. Obviously riding with injuries isn't necessarily a great idea, but given how close the world cup has been recently those 33 points and the extra practice at Fort William could make a difference. Gee is a professional and I'm sure he talked to a doctor to figure out what risks he was taking before making a decision. Check the Vital MTB finals slideshow if you want to hear an interview with him about it.

no thanks i don't want to hear it
  • 8 0
@HutchJR ... if you really think Gee made the decision to race in the final hastily then there isn't much left to discuss. Gee is one of the, if not the, most calculated professionals on the circuit and although he may not be my favorite rider, he certainly is not one to take the gravity of these types of decisions lightly.
  • 8 1
LOL "He wasn't on the live feed=no exposure" hahahaha nice. He raced to get in the top 80 so he can practice/TT with the top 80 next round. If outside the top 80 he would only have track time at fort Bill with the Juniors/women. Exposure LOL like he made the decision to ride because he would get some teevee time hahahha
  • 5 0
Yep, the ONLY reason he lined up was because only the top-80 riders get to practice in group-A at Ft. Bill. If he didn't start, he risked having to practice in group-B with women and juniors. If it weren't for that, he would surely have sat out.
  • 4 0
StanMarsh. Lupine and Pininator - I wasn't aware of the top 80 rule for the subsequent WC practice. Makes sense. And I agree, every point counts. I was just looking at it from an injury pt of view. Now we have to suffer for a long time till Fort Bill!
  • 4 0
Suffer indeed...2 months till the next race wtf UCI! Why no race in May?!?
  • 5 0
Maybe it's to let everyone recover from all the Lourdes gnar...
  • 2 1
@HutchJR Fort Williams is in 1,5 month. Most broken wrists are 100% fixed in 1 month.
It depends of what bone was broken, but in general, after 3weeks with wrist brace you can ride again (w/o any pain).

their team manager (kathy?)..must be a blessing to have her around. mom away from home for all those boys
  • 22 0
That Syndicate video is quality! Looking forward to seeing how Ratboy does this year
  • 9 0
Absolutely, really enjoyed it! And given the circumstances, Bryceland and Minnaar did a really good job.
  • 4 0
yeah it was sick, and im glad they both raced
  • 14 0
The syndicate crew got wrecked before this season. I can't wait for them to recover. Favorite race team, even if they are "elite";p lets go ratty
  • 25 1
they just need a girl rider now....
  • 23 1
Gotta agree. They are definitely one of my favourite teams, and it would be great to see them sponsor a woman rider!
  • 7 0
Agree too, why not? Which rider would fit the bill then?
  • 5 19
flag adamconradx (Apr 14, 2015 at 4:59) (Below Threshold)
i think a girl might not be quite right, as when training, they push each other. Having a girl (no offence) would mean they would have to try to get her involved and so they would not be riding fast all the time...
  • 9 1
Maybe, but not likely - it would surely boost the woman - look at the Hannah's and Atherton's
  • 6 1
I dont think including a women in the team would interfere with their training and prep..and as @neimbc says - it will only serve to boost the lady team member...all that said...the team is about #allthelads..so unlikely...but who knows...a question to ask them methinks
  • 7 5
true, but also financially they are doing good right now and they are a really close group of people. Adding a girl to 3 crazy riders who love to mess around might break the balance
  • 5 1
HutchJR - then they need an equally crazy girl - Greg is mellow and level , Peaty is a bit of a kid with Rat, and Rat is Rat, - Heck, introducing a girl on the team, might make them really want to show off for her - especially that young one!
  • 5 4
haha greg isnt exactly mellow! hes probably the most physical of the bunch; but haha like you said ad a girl to the team and at onec all three of them are in the top 3 for every race Wink
  • 5 0
the rat's got a bird now....
  • 1 0
You sure? Bird on bike tho?
  • 13 0
Heck I feel for the whole team! Their pretty banged up this year.
  • 3 0
Unfortunately the life of a pro athlete can be and often times is very painful. Ive had more than my fair share of injuries. So I have a great amount of respect for for these guys. Keep pedaling the the world and pain will eventually fade away.
  • 6 1
Liked the syndicate video, but felt kinda overproduced vs the This is peaty stuff. Probably just me though.
  • 6 1
Léon I absolutely loved your video please keep them coming if you can. You have one more follower.
  • 4 0
Way to much slow motion more speed and real life ore then slow MO. You can't really get a sense of the action with this video.
  • 3 0
Don't know about anyone else but i'm so glad we saw Brendan riding right up there into 6th. He absolutely deserves a strong season at the top table.
  • 4 0
I feel for the Rat! Riding with that recently repaired foot.

  • 6 7
Oh my god, please stop with the excessive slow mo you shit.
  • 14 0
Easy there raging-hippo. One thing to have an opinion but you don't need to go calling the filmmaker a 'shit'.
  • 12 2
Sorry I had a passionate outburst. Nah he's not a shit. But seriously, the bulk slow mo needs to stop.
  • 7 0
Definitely more of a full speed fan myself too Wink
  • 2 3
Slow motion is right up there with Chinese Water Torture. It needs to stop. About 20 years ago.
