UCI MTB World Cup Lourdes. Insane vibe, amazing riders, awesome spot. Slow mo addict for sublime the sport. Music : Lights & Motion - Aerials. Film & Edit : Léon Perrin
The Syndicate:
In the premiere episode of THE SYNDICATE, watch as Ratboy, Greg, and Peaty prepare for the 2015 season, and race the first World Cup at Lourdes, France.
Seriously tough dudes and dudettes! Remember, those ladies are riding the same course and many of them had some gnarly falls too, but got back on their steeds and toughed it out. Tough mudders all around!
could not agree with more. An entire clip in slow motion is worthless, an entire edit even more so. Slow mo should be used sparingly to heighten the viewing experience. A clip at full speed slowed momentarily to highlight the riders focus, or gnar of the section, is 100x more effective than the entire clip in slow mo. Speed change gives the viewer far better context and perspective. I wish this slow mo fad would stop, 95% of the time it's crap, it's blatantly lazy editing.
I just don't get it . Sucking all the drama and danger right out of the scene all to show their amazing editing and flowing jerseys in the wind . Drives me crazy . They are travelling at ridiculous speeds and they slow them to a crawl.
Is it not time for the teams like the syndicate and specalized etc to bring in girls? It would problay bring up the level in womens racing. At least that whats I think.
Specialized is lacking in the gravity females, but they have Anneke Beerten in enduro, Annika Langvad and Lea Davison in XC and a few all women road teams.
i have to say that gee would have been better off not racing. Riding with injuries is bad in the long term and he got nothing back from racing... He wasn't on the live feed = no exposure; and now will make his wrists worse and more prone to injury
I agree, why race and chance it, making it worse prolonging healing. For what minuscule points that might get, not worth it! I really want these two guys Gee and Greg to give that other G kid a run for his money!
he got 48th, which equals 33 points. that is why i look up more to people like peaty and hill. they think about their health more than their image. He made a good call not to race. Now sam hill will be healthy at ft bill healthy (as it seems atm), and atherton will most likely be in pain, regretting what he did.
Gee's decision to ride was a calculated move. Like IDHI said it was about getting a slot in timed training for Fort Bill. Obviously riding with injuries isn't necessarily a great idea, but given how close the world cup has been recently those 33 points and the extra practice at Fort William could make a difference. Gee is a professional and I'm sure he talked to a doctor to figure out what risks he was taking before making a decision. Check the Vital MTB finals slideshow if you want to hear an interview with him about it.
@HutchJR ... if you really think Gee made the decision to race in the final hastily then there isn't much left to discuss. Gee is one of the, if not the, most calculated professionals on the circuit and although he may not be my favorite rider, he certainly is not one to take the gravity of these types of decisions lightly.
LOL "He wasn't on the live feed=no exposure" hahahaha nice. He raced to get in the top 80 so he can practice/TT with the top 80 next round. If outside the top 80 he would only have track time at fort Bill with the Juniors/women. Exposure LOL like he made the decision to ride because he would get some teevee time hahahha
Yep, the ONLY reason he lined up was because only the top-80 riders get to practice in group-A at Ft. Bill. If he didn't start, he risked having to practice in group-B with women and juniors.
If it weren't for that, he would surely have sat out.
StanMarsh. Lupine and Pininator - I wasn't aware of the top 80 rule for the subsequent WC practice. Makes sense. And I agree, every point counts. I was just looking at it from an injury pt of view. Now we have to suffer for a long time till Fort Bill!
@HutchJR Fort Williams is in 1,5 month. Most broken wrists are 100% fixed in 1 month. It depends of what bone was broken, but in general, after 3weeks with wrist brace you can ride again (w/o any pain).
i think a girl might not be quite right, as when training, they push each other. Having a girl (no offence) would mean they would have to try to get her involved and so they would not be riding fast all the time...
I dont think including a women in the team would interfere with their training and prep..and as @neimbc says - it will only serve to boost the lady team member...all that said...the team is about #allthelads..so unlikely...but who knows...a question to ask them methinks
true, but also financially they are doing good right now and they are a really close group of people. Adding a girl to 3 crazy riders who love to mess around might break the balance
HutchJR - then they need an equally crazy girl - Greg is mellow and level , Peaty is a bit of a kid with Rat, and Rat is Rat, - Heck, introducing a girl on the team, might make them really want to show off for her - especially that young one!
haha greg isnt exactly mellow! hes probably the most physical of the bunch; but haha like you said ad a girl to the team and at onec all three of them are in the top 3 for every race
Unfortunately the life of a pro athlete can be and often times is very painful. Ive had more than my fair share of injuries. So I have a great amount of respect for for these guys. Keep pedaling the the world and pain will eventually fade away.
