Global News - BCTwo mountain bikers, who use the North Vancouver trails regularly, took it upon themselves last December to purchase, install and monitor security cameras in the hopes of catching someone who was intentionally setting up barricades on the trails.
Between Aug. 1 and Dec. 29, 2014, the bikers noticed obstructions on the trails, which at times, were dangerous for them and other bikers.
A 64-year-old woman has now been criminally charged for allegedly setting up logs and rocks on the biking trails, with the intention to obstruct mountain bikers. She was caught numerous times on the hidden cameras, appearing to intentionally lay logs, branches and rocks on the Quarry and Lower Skull trails.
North Vancouver RCMP arrested the woman on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 5 a.m. at the head of the Quarry Trail.
She has been released with conditions to not attend or go near any of the biking trails tampered with. Police are requesting criminal charges for setting a trap and mischief to property.
These are serious charges – these are public trails and one should not interfere with the lawful enjoyment of the trails and set up traps or obstacles to potentially endanger the lives of people using them, said Cpl. Richard De Jong, spokesperson for the North Vancouver RCMP.
Fortunately no one was seriously hurt or injured in these incidents and the accused is set to appear in court on Feb. 4.

Presumably, she wouldn't even want to sabotage the trails if her own flesh and blood were riding them.
It could be the cats thing as well. Why do people like cats?
that's a long list of bad injuries...I'm really sorry to hear about that.
what u described sounds like crazytown!!!
And thanks to everyone else too.
I am pleased that this woman has (allegedly) acted so childishly, selfishly & dangerously. And that she got caught doing it. She has done more than we ever could to lower the public credibility of anti-mountain bikers & make them look silly.
Where she has acted childishly, selfishly & dangerously. The mountain bikers have united & organized to maintain & improve the trails in the community for everyone. Two of our peers have spent countless hours patiently gathering information so that she could be brought to justice, legally.
If / When her name is released on Feb 4th, DO NOT ruin the work of everyone above by stooping to her level.
If eggs are thrown, threats are leveled & rude acts are made towards her, it will only serve to justify her actions in "their" minds and confirm to "them" that mountain bikers are hooligans. We are not.
When her name is released, make sure it is spread far and wide so that all of the city, including her colleagues, friends & family know how selfish and dangerously she acted. But do it with class.
Stay classy. We are better than she is.

The reason they did it? All in the name of safety of course!
i live in France and on one of my favorite trail, someone seems to have fun putting logs and rocks on it! Also, sometimes, elderly people that i come across while riding literally hate me, insulting me very hard (last time an old man insulted me but he was whispering..i heard it and asked him to repeat it louder : i am not that type of guy who is gonna do nothing so we began to insult each others for nothing… probably not a very good reaction from me but others don't work, trust me i tried them before..
still don't know why they hate us mountain bikers so much..
fortunately there are still good people in the forests starring at us riding on our spots, asking us questions..
Give her community service repairing all the old ladder features.
Must be talking to judgerider.....right?
I'm sure he was joking and trying to lighten up the fact that this Crazy B is setting traps to hurt riders.
Mad props to whoever put up the cameras, thank you!!!! Technology put to good use (as opposed to texting while driving soccer moms.)
And to the RCMP, good on you for not dismissing these claims.

Just goes to show that even though you might think you really know a trail well, it could change from one day to the next!
We also have this kind of problem here in The Black Forest were Logs Even whole trees get thrown on our trails.
Hell Yeah it trains your skills to The max... Even if You Ride 650b
Its hard having a 3 million dollar waterfront property and have mountain bikers enjoy the forest 6 kilometers from your house. It just takes one of them to be a little crazier than the rest to start setting traps to catch those reckless bikers.
!!!???
Why the unbridled HATRED towards cyclists (roadies too)?

not that this is fair retaliation but its a fact worth considering.
"we" are often loud, aggro, uncouth, and sometimes naked while changing into our extreme dh pajamas right in peoples front yards.
