@fartymarty: Yeah but he isn't nearly as good at wheelies and manuals so wyn is clearly the best, because wheelie Wednesdays are the best day of the week.
@ricechrispy: "I don't think that your interviews are sixty places better than mine" - based on Ed finishing 60 places faster than Wyn. it's the Dirt Magazine vid.
Only 90%? I would get tore up after a weekend of racing on a track that changed after every run and had some super-techy sections to deal with...and I don't even drink!
Man, I really like Josh. But that was a bullshit comment. WTF is wrong with ANY DH rider getting more money? I don't understand it. All of us fans usually agree the DH riders are underpaid, especially compared to other sports. If GT offered Josh $250,0000 more that he is making now for his next contract, would he say no? Complete bullshit
I wish the best for Ratboy but I fear that when his racing career is over he will just be a washed up drunk that we still can't understand.
Gwin is a class act. Which makes him an easy target for the sewer dwellers.
That's a shitty thing to say. Because he likes to have fun he's gonna be a washed up drunk? You don't know anything about him. What if he's an amazing house framer, or invests his money in shit like Peaty did, or any number of things. People need to stop assuming the worst in everyone.
They cut out the part where Wyn was like "You ride better than you interview," and then Eddie was like "I don't think you interview 60 places better than I do." Thug life. Just Savage.
The Syndicate: the coolest dudes ("don't give a f**k attitude done in the right way!). Relaxed and true champs! It seems that this must be the coolest tent to hang out. Also, Rachel seems kinda cool!
Watching the telecast, Rat was sending it up top but it seemed like he was trying too hard to be cool. If he wasn't styling as much I think he would have been further up the charts. My take on his comments goes like he totally respects Loic for charging and not being pissed off at the world for crashing and losing out on the win. From the little I saw of Whiteley, I think him showing up in his new sportscar might have pissed some people off.
I wonder what the average blood alcohol level was of the participants of this video. I'm goin to be hung over tomorrow after just watching this. Love it!
Man, I really like Josh Brycland. But that comment about Loic and "not here for the money" was a bullshit comment. WTF is wrong with ANY DH rider getting more money? I don't understand it. All of us fans usually agree the DH riders are underpaid, especially compared to other sports. If GT offered Josh $250,0000 more that he is making now for his next contract, would he say no? Complete bullshit. Does anyone think Loic is making less now that he made last year? Hell no.
In on of their interviews they stated that the deal with specialized paid less than lapierre and that they had much higher offers, but they chose specialized for a reason.
@higiff: Maybe it was for a longer deal, or more travel expenses paid, etc. My point is that anyone, especially professional riders, bashing Gwin (or anyone else) for going for bigger $$ is ridiculous. And he did it with an underdog, and rider favorite bike company with YT. Gwin of all people is totally down to earth. It isn't like he is has a a-hole persona .
@bman33: bruh chill. having someone say "___ is not in it for the money" in any professional sport is a huge compliment. just take it at face value and chill out
@jaycubzz: I get it...I am a bit miffed on it. However, Loic crashed, Gwin won and the atmosphere much of this weekend has been "Gwin is only about $$". I am as big a Loic fan as anyone. He is a super chill an likable guy, very professional as is Gwin. He will do big things and looks like those two will battle all season for the top spot. I don't feel that Josh's comment was just as "Loic is just riding for fun". The comments are clearly aimed at Gwin.
Yeah, Josh went down a couple of notches on that one! We've all been watching races and rider interviews for years and I don't think I've ever seen another rider talk smack about another one, not at this level world class level. These are pros. Well maybe not since Shawn Palmer. ;-) Other than that its always keep real professional. Gwin is a Class A dude. Ratboy has no place talking shit. I bet that in short time the rider salaries will go up, including his, and they'll all have Gwin to thank!
It was more likely a subtle dig at Wyn for jumping ship to PB from Dirt for more money... there were quite a few others too, especially when you watch EddieTV.
Bryceland isn't a dick like that!!
@bman33: I don't think those guys think any less of Gwin taking a bigger offer. I think anything that was said was just joking around. Might as well get paid as much as you can for the talent you have. Peaty is an anomaly but DH racers don't have very long careers.
You're reading too much into it. It's not a dig at anyone. He's just complementing Loic and how he's not bothered by fame or money, just wants to ride his bike fast. I think we can all see that.
Did you not listen to what he said about Bruni before that comment? It will give you a bit more context to understand that what he said was NOT a dig at Bruni.
I might be wrong but I think he Josh just saluted the fact that Loïc was all smiles even tho he crashed and didn't get the win. By "for the money" he probably meant that Loïc can enjoy his life as a rider without taking the win everytime.
Did you guys just get dumped or something? Think you may be reading into this a bit much. Josh didn't single out anyone and was just saying Bruni rides for the love of the sport and not for the money. That's a compliment to Bruni not a slight against anyone else.
Bruni is clearly a rider favorite and with the attitude he's shown despite him losing multiple wins to a crash is quite admirable. I know many people who if were that close all the time and coming up short they would fold.
Rat just has a lot a respect for the dude and I would just leave it as that
I couldn't understand what the hell he was saying, so I missed the jab at Gwin. IMO Gwin set the precedent for all the riders in the circuit by showing that you can write your own ticket if you've got the results to back it up, maybe they should think about that before trash-talking Gwin.
@bman33: it's just that whatever ratboy says you should lap it up and roll in it, coz he's a legend ? ratboys just saying losing with a smile at that level means more to him as a show of character big props for Bruni who is only 21 !! . Really it ain't to do with how much anyone gets might get or should get or the amount of money. He also says Sam Hill likes the larger lady, so that's now fact .
Lots of snark towards Gwinn. I don't think it's the money. He has a "holier than though" kinda thing going on I think. I think it's a good thing that Gwinn is pushing for Rider's to make more money. They put their lives on the line blowing through that gnar at 30-40 mph. Great athletes and great people. Think Gwinn's with other riders is him saying things like " well I don't love riding, you can love God, but I enjoy riding." I'm paraphrasing but he did say that in an interview here on PB. He's aloof from the other riders. That's his problem. IMHO.
