I'm from the coast of northern BC and Building Trails, chopping sawing digging hammering love ripping on a hardtail, but since I've stepped up my setup I have really enjoyed going faster and bigger, with some pedaling. In truly and honestly biking and building trails to ride on is my catharsis.

go to a bike shop and talk to the locals.
see if you can get their involvement and start small.
