The majority of the riding is at the Forest of Dean; Sheep Skull, Ski Run, Corkscrew, Endo and then a loamy track to the left side near Pedalabikeaway. The dirt jumping was filmed at Radical Bikes over in Essex and a place called Sandy Bay.

It´s crazy to see with the little potential the country has compared to other places how healthy the british mtb scene is. Their aproach towards the sport is so clever, I just wish it was the same over here, with all the trail centers, their qualitty magazines, top shops, all the bike manufacturers....And they shred pretty hard too.

The DH scene in the US is growing rapidly, I agree tho that it could be so much more.. I wish we had the involvement that the UK has. We have potential to have amazing courses (and we do have several) but I'm from Vail, Colorado and all they care about is skiing. If they put a quarter of the effort they put into their winter in the summer this place could be EPIC. Till then.... Keystone Bike Park Baby !!

Lots and lots of the uk scene is made from guys like you getting out there and getting on with it, shovels, sweat, internet, word of mouth, from what I hear Colorado is a pretty liberal and open minded state so I'm sure they wouldn't be too mad if you just started banging tracks up on those huge mountains. For example next to thunder valley every time I see those hills I'm like, damn if I lived here that thing would have turns all over it.

Then you just gotta get people there willing to ride to increase the scene, it starts small and takes years.

Maybe, just maybe the fact that we have smaller hills makes it easier to build a scene, just speculating her but with small hills spending all day pushing up without lifts or shuttles isn't ideal but it's not awful, on the other side of the coin and whenever I Goto places with huge mountains I don't wanna push back up for 1-2 hours, screw that, I just wanna get to the bottom. So maybe the size of the terrain limits the interest? That said, you could always just build from less of the way up......

it's tough like that but I used to spend every other hour after work (much to my families discontent) with a shovel in my hand near where I live so I had tracks to ride that were mine, after about a year there were 5 of my own tracks all with varied styles, people were riding them and having fun and then others would pop up everywhere, that brings more people, boom there's your acorn and you gotta build from there

I guess you are right in a way. Nevertheless, the fine for having " my acorn" is around the 50,000 euro mark. So yeah, the amount of proper mtb trails here is limited, not to mention the great number of angry log blocking trail hickers. It is very hard to create a trail center, there is where the main difference relies, in my opinion.

@jmbrit I couldn't agree more and it's awesome you say that because I literally was on a drive yesterday and ventured into "Public Access" land and immediately my imagination started running rampant at the potential this place had !! The land here can change fairly quickly..from wooded forest to rocky hillsides and even desert (think virgin, utah) like landscapes. This place had it all, and I'm no noob to trail building, been shoveling dirt for years so I know when I see something that has potential. I would love to get my hands in that place and create something the guys (and girls) around here would appreciate.

Sorry, so much Slo Mo, i can't be arsed to watch the full 19 minutes, shame because it looked really promising.

Have to agree, I gave up at the orange smoke. Some nice looking trails but nothing amazing, we have better!
  • 6 0
...agree it could have lost the slo-mo and the leaf skidding in neck braces was a little poor, but overall enjoyment was had!

Love it, shows what`s really good about Uk riding! I live very close and occasionally road ride past where Tom Cardy rides in this vid, although it`s way to big for me to consider!! Love the look of Fod, one of the places I have not ridden in the Uk... Now planning a trip.

I enjoyed it, a lot of effort goes into making edits like this, good to see my local trails (nibley) and the FOD on Pinkbike, nice one Scott Carpenter as well.

Did they point all the lights in the wrong direction on purpose?
  • 2 0
I shot the night scenes in July as it was warmest haha, I only had 7 small panel lights which were then actually just resting on tree branches or upside down on the side of the track. Originally I did actually have it facing the riders at some points throughout the short beginning, but the issue was blinding them haha. Shooting at night you dont have the whole trail lit obviously, so had to light a bit of the run in, middle section that was being filmed then to the point where they stopped so no one got hurt. Cheers!
