The young French riders from the Race Company, MIA Santa Cruz team had a great time in Madeira. Kilian Bron and Maxime Peythieu turned up to the small island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean to ride some awesome trails for ten days, they were not disappointed.

They got shown around by the locals from Bikulture Madeira, who shuttled them and showed them all the good spots. The trail map of the island is so vast that they didn't ride the same trail two days in a row. With a mix of rough and unexplored terrain on one hand and great man made jump trails on the other, both riders got what they needed from this trip.

The team normally produces a short 4min video from their trips, but here, they had so much footage that they chose to go for a longer approach that includes interviews and also more lifestyle to give a better insight to the trip and what a great time they had.

The riders would want to thank Oqamy VISUEL for the beautiful pictures and video, Bikulture Madeira for their warm welcome and all the team sponsors who made this trip possible:

Race Company, Santa Cruz, Julbo Eyewear, Hutchinson Tires, One Industries, SixSixOne, Novatec, X-Fusion Shox, Sun Valley Ski Wear, Muc-Off.

Why's everyone always carrying or pushing their Nomads in all these vids ... don't these things pedal uphill at all?

YES YES YES they frekin rip up the hill. (Owner of one)

I have no idea honestly, they go uphill pretty damn well considering how awesome they go down.

@adraianclark they rip up the hill?? Maybe if you used to climb 2004 dh bike. I got one a new nomad too but as much as I love it, it does need a little extra power to get it up the hill.

***please lets not begin to troll, just wanted to share my 2 cents***

This new nomad is on my list for a new bike along with the sb6c and hd3 .. From what I read the climb fairly well but kinda cracks me up when they always show people pushing bikes uphill in the enduro vids Smile at least they are not being carried by donkeys.

@bogdan75: I had the Nomad, Tracer, SB6c and HD3 on my list, unfortunately I didn't get to demo the last two, but I got a really good deal on the Nomad so I ended up going with that. I don't think we can make a wrong choice really, that's one damn nice selection to choose from Razz

@airsoftesneeto: I think that's a little harsh, it definitely pedals better uphill than a lot of bikes. Maybe not better than something like the HD3/SB6c mentioned above, but it's way better than my other bike which has less travel.

@Uberbob102000 interesting. Yeah I came from a 2010 fuel ex 8 and it felt like a lot more work but maybe i was more fatigued when I demoed it. Yeah man I love my nomad, its one heck of a bike. I mean honestly to descend like it does and still be plenty capable on the climbs; you cannot go wrong

They carry their nomads uphill because the trails in Madeira are as steep as Champery or Val di Sole...it's kinda difficult to climb no matter the bike you use...

@Uberbob102000 @airsoftesneeto thanks for the info ... heading to Moab this coming summer and hoping to demo the yeti and the hd3 there ... maybe even a nomad if they have any. It seems to be (purely based on reviews) that ...

Nomad: if you want a mini DH bike that can still climb ... this is the ticket
SB6C: Not as much info there but probably pedals better than Nomad but not as capable
HD3: based on the excellent PB writeup ... likes a really good all arounder ... more capable on all trails though giving up a little on the DH side to the Nomad.

I guess the next step for me is to figure out what kind of bike I want ... currently riding a 2011 Tracer2 with a 160 fork up front and in 145mm mode out back due to my CCDBA cs fitting issues. I think the Nomad probably would be more like the tracer2 but better in many ways ... but I don't do as much dh stuff anymore so ...

I was just thinking about you guys and wondering when I might see a vid from ya. You guys kill it! Hate to harp but wish you would have picked the Nomad in black, that blue hurts my soul. Keep'm coming guys!

I was going to bash you for not liking the bubble gum colors, but in reality the only takers I have found for this color scheme are Salmon, Steelhead, Kids on Scooters, Confused Teenagers, Grandparents without dentures and males who prefer the same sex. I really had to work hard to find the right color scheme for fishing, I just noticed the scooter kids when they would get in my way, my little sister told me about the teenagers, I made the grandparents thing up, and this post is already to long to explain how I found out about that last one.

In the 4th photo down you can see the Vivid Air on each bike has been mounted in opposite directions of each other. Any reason you would do this?
