The Story of Bell Helmets and Joy RideLast year, Bell Helmets Executive Vice President, Jessica Klodnicki had no other ladies to mountain bike with. She was a new rider, who had just taken a skills clinic, and was looking for some friends to hit the trails with. By chance, she ran into one of her fellow clinic attendees after yet another solo ride on the trails, the two clicked and began riding together. Soon there were three women, followed by twelve and within three months, the group had grown to seventy. Jessica made the monthly ride official and dubbed the event "Girls Rock" and it grew to host hundreds of women each month.
Jessica and Bell have created a program called
Joy Ride to motivate others to do the same, and are offering five women from five different cities around the USA the opportunity to start their own women's ride group with their assistance, and are taking applications now. The winners will be flown to Santa Cruz for an induction and training and will receive funding to make their group rides a reality. Bell have also just released a new women's specific Joy Ride helmet line to celebrate the initiative.
Troy Lee Designs UpdatesiXS Enter the GameG-Form ProtectionG-Form got their start when Daniel Wyner, an inventor and tinkerer, began re-purposing gel hospital bed lining for shoe and saddle products. Wyner has a long history with working with advanced composite materials, and has expanded and developed their technology over the years to include impact protection pieces for application in various action sports, from snowboarding to Hollywood stunts. For the first time this year, women will have three mountain bike specific protection options: a compression shirt, and two compression shorts.
