Started my Saturday morning off meeting up with friends, loading up the truck and heading out towards Bingen, WA. I haven't been out there in about 2 years but I was excited to get out there and especially excited about it being 60° in February. I think everyone was stoked about that. The drive east on I-84 made us question the sunshine that was forecasted but the closer we got to Hood River the more the clouds burned away. If you haven't been to Syncline and are in the Portland, OR area you should really get over there and check it out. You can shuttle or ride up from the parking lot and its only about an hour from Portland. You can get directions to it online or drop into one of the LBS in town and get pointed in the right direction.
On our first run we were able to break ground having beat everyone else to the trail. The dirt was prime. We almost lost a rider on our first run as Larry went OTB on a turn and thought he was going over the edge. If you've ridden at Syncline you know how close to the cliff's edge the trail runs in some spots. Luckily Larry didn't tumble on one of those sections and just had the piss scared out of him for a second.
After the scare with Larry we ran into some other friends we'd been waiting on and got in a few more runs before heading into White Salmon for some food and a beer, pretty much the perfect way to end an already perfect day.
