After a successful season in 2013, the new year couldn’t start any better for Peter Henke: as new member of the Red Bull family and with a Conti-wheeled Canyon bike, Peter is ready to shred and throw down tricks in 2014. Furthermore, the German MTB pro is now backed by the sports marketing and communication agency rasoulution.
2013 led from one highlight to another for Peter “Pete” Henke: after his top ten results at Vienna Air King (Vienna, AUT), King of Dirt (Riva, ITA) and Red Bull Berg Line (Winterberg, GER) he started in Munich as the first and only German MTB rider at the legendary X Games and ended up as one of the best ten riders. Shortly afterwards, at Colorado Freeride Festival (Winter Park, USA), he celebrated his first spot on the podium at a FMB World Tour Gold event: thanks to an impressive second final run (watch it
here) featuring a double backflip, he came shy of only Martin Soderstrom, a more than worthy rival and now his rasoulution team colleague. All in all, his results tallied up to a deserving tenth place in the FMB World Tour overall ranking. Further invitations to the top events of the year, Red Bull Joyride (Whistler, CAN) and Red Bull Rampage (Utah, USA) followed which he couldn’t attend due to an injury.
"Pete has improved massively over the last two years and has now crossed the line into world’s slopestyle elite. He fits perfectly in our athlete portfolio and we envisage a huge potential for the upcoming years,” explains rasoulution founder and managing director Tarek Rasouli.
Pete’s hard work training and strong competitive results have paid off with an army of new, prominent partners. The bar could not have been raised higher for him: joining a pool of professional athletes, he was crowned with a Red Bull helmet. Earning his wings, Pete is set to soar in 2014. A new lid is only the beginning – Pete can also boast about his new bike. The bike manufacturer Canyon from Koblenz, Germany, has signed with him and will be arming him with the “Stitched” dirt bike and the “Torque DHX” downhill bike. Ideal equipment for an even more successful season as proven by his new teammates, Anton Thelander and Thomas Genon. To complete the new overall package, the German tire manufacturer Continental has partnered with Pete to ensure he has the right grip for the upcoming slopestyle, dirtjump and freeride contests with Conti’s “Race King” and “XKing”. Furthermore the bike component manufacturer NC-17 provides him with the “MG II Ti S-Pro”, the lightest flat pedals worldwide. Needless to say, Peter is thrilled and raring to drop in: “I’m so proud to be now part of the rasoulution team. With the great support of my new partners I’m able to concentrate on training for the upcoming events with the best material.”
To keep his performance curve growing as steeply as last year, Pete’s preparations are centered around his new compound in his hometown Ingelheim: with diggers and plenty of earth, he is working on the perfect jumps for a personal training ground. There he gets ready for 2014 which promises to have a lot of potential. Additionally the Canyon team rider will be working on several filming projects. As you can see, Peter Henke is perfectly equipped and about to begin an exciting new season.
