The word cute has never looked so badass
  • 17 5
 so much negativity.......
  • 13 3
120 people that have never ridden anything even close to the size of the features in this contest. Just because its a new series doesnt mean they have to play down every other contest to get attention.
  • 10 2
Agreed, Jan99. The fest contest/gatherings are great and all, but the negativity displayed by the organizers is ridiculous. Take up your beef with the FMB privately. Seeing all of the trash talking and poor language on every fest associated post causes me to dislike the series.
  • 43 11
not another loop... well at least this one isn't mandatory, it doesn't look very trick able either. If Sam doesn't want to hit it most of the other riders wont either. Making it pointless, again!
  • 18 10
 loops are cool
  • 9 4
agreed, yet useless. if i was a rider i would rather have them put some huge jump in there instead of a loop
  • 8 8
loops look like hilarious fun. it may be pointless but i bet its fun for the riders

If Sam doesnt want to hit??? Sam is a pussychiken that farted in Munich xgames. He is not a reference since his afraid of big jumps and nice new obstacles. You cant see that there is a jump over the loop so if the rider dont want.to do the loop they jump it...
If Sam doesnt want??? f*ck want Sam want. I want new obstacles and big jumps. Look a the face of afraid of Sam

Wow I posted that comment to get neg propped... Thank you pinkbike community for being so nice!
  • 12 2
Fest Series is where it's at
  • 3 2
that line looks soo sick!!!! cant wait to see the riders hit it!
  • 26 1
They've gone full circus with that loop. Never go full circus.
  • 1 0
 Haha
  • 2 2
If the loop works in interesting more people to watch, then it's a good thing, because we need this sport go global... And ONLY THEN it will be more appreciated in 3rd world nations, like mine Frown
  • 12 2
all the younger newer guys are hitting the loop so there is no problem with having a loop. this is why sam isn't going to win anything this year because he hasn't pushed himself enough. still the same trick bag and wont try new obstacles.
  • 2 1
So the loop basically serves as a filter feature that you can't trick.
  • 3 1
I can imagine the loop will be a lot scarier and technical than just pedalling at a jump
  • 9 8
@mudmandhbrazil: I would like to see you try and hit it if you are so brave. you must be way braver than a guy that drops in to joyride on a hardtail whilst everyone else is on full sussers. oh and lololol you lost the world cup
  • 7 6
More then half the guys ride HTs in joyride bud.... Have u even ever been? I haven't missed it in 9 years

Jordan: I hate soccer what you mean with lost world cup??? What a jerk. I never said I was brave. But I think that a freerider should be brave not pussy like Pilgrim
  • 10 5
dude get your facts right pilgrim got balls of steel, he ain't no pussy
  • 3 1
i just don't why they would put a loop in the course. It's a feature that you can't trick, so how much will this affect the overall score anyway?
  • 5 0
you got a point, at least in L2A it was a half loop and they could do a barspin or a tailwhip, but on a full loop... not crash maybe? so I doubt many (if any) will choose the loop over the jump
  • 3 2
@riotpride. ok then. drops into(insert the name of one of the many slopestyle competions where sam has been either the only of one of a few hardtailriders, the names of which slip my mind, here) either way those jumps and drops and stepdowns in slopestyle are pretty huge. you have to have balls to do them on either a trek ticket s or a majesty. but you have to have more testicles to do it on a hard tail than a full sus
  • 6 2
i'd rather have strong legs and 4 inches of rear travel for the big stuff than balls of steel, just saying
  • 9 2
Again, pinkbike caring way too much about a gnarly feature that's unique to slope contests and is only at one event... again I say, WTF is happening to mtbing? God damn, people used to be stoked on unique stuff because it pushes the riders and sometimes they do crap you could never imagine on them. At least this is a multi-feature and yet people still have a problem with it... very strange... If anything, you should be bringing up something relevant like how heavy they're judging the feature say vs. someone doing a 3 whip over the top. Otherwise, who friggen cares? It keeps the sport interesting because god knows new tricks aren't busted out every season. I invite new features. Maybe one day they'll put in a gap to curved wall-ride Wink
  • 1 0
Full loop with a big step down right out of the exit
  • 1 2
@mudmandhbrazil: bet you feel like a fool as sam pilgrim tricked the loop
  • 1 0
Or maybe Pilgrim felt like a fool when he runed away from Munick xgames or anybig jump contest showing his a pussy???
  • 1 0
@mudmandhbrazil you have some kind of hate for sam pilgrim dont you??
  • 1 0
Yes I hate fags that dont like big jumps
  • 1 0
then you must have very little self estim (see if you get it)
  • 1 0
 For your ass too
  • 14 1
What's the point of that full loop if it isn't even trickable? Lacondeguy seems to be making the right decisions going for the Fests.
  • 13 1
Can't wait until someone makes a closed loop that curves the sharpest at the apex...

No one really want's to hear this, but if someone would just use a bit of mathematics and physics in course design then it would be quite easy to built courses that the riders could get down without a single pedal stroke. Like the "x games slopestyle" last year could have had an awesome course if just someone would have done the math. Sounds stupid but it's the truth.
  • 8 0
i think in some of the jumps they must use some trajectory and stuff like that. Crankworx still seems to be the flowest course in the FMB. i barely see any pedal strokes in that
  • 2 0
 I totally agree Frilko!
  • 2 0
Thanks for the blog diesel, I will start following it. About the maths, I don't know if was on 2012 or 2013 but for the course preparation of swatch rocket air they used matlab
  • 2 0
The blog is really nice, and explains everything nicely, but right at the beginning they mention a centripetal force, that does not exist. What is really odd, since they do have a great math base!
  • 1 0
Dude, centripetal force does exist is the force that affects the direction of the velocity and not the magnitude. Is the same as the centrifugal force, just from another reference point.
  • 1 0
Not really man... What does exist is a reaction on the rails, not on the object. In this case the roller coaster pushes the rails, trying to keep them straight, but since the rails can be considered fixed, they force the roller coaster to follow their path, and by doing so there is a normal force on the rail pushing the coaster. But the coaster itself suffers no centripetal force, otherwise it would pull the rails inside the looping, and what happens is the opposite. An even better example would be a small ball attached to a line. The other end of the line is fixed to a rotating joint, and the ball has constant speed, no loss, no acceleration. If there was a centripetal force in the system, the line would collapse and the ball would tend to approach the rotating joint, but instead it just spins freely around the joint, in a circular path, with its radius being the line length.
  • 1 0
I see what you are trying to say on how it doesnt exist, and you are right in some way. The centripetal force is not like gravity force, electromagnetic force, normal force kind of force. As the force is porportional to the variation of momentum (newton) and being velocity a vector who has magnitude and direction, if you change the direction of the movement but not the speed (like in yor ball in the line example) the summatory of forces on the ball MUST be different from zero. If the ball wasn't attached to the line it would move in a straight line at constant speed ( assuming no friction and no mass variation, like in the rollercoaster blog) but if it's attached to the line it would move at constant speed and in a circular path as you described before, and you could see that the line has some tension, to keep the ball doing the circular path. That tension on the line is the centripetal force. On the roller coaster the normal force with the rails will be the centriipetal force.
So in conclusion, centripetal force is the force that changes the direction of the speed, and could be a tension force ( like in a line), normal force ( like in the roller coaster) or whatever force that is acting in 90 degrees in relation to the direction of the movement
  • 2 0
Completely agreed! But in the site they work this force as if it were pushing the coaster inwards, giving the impression that the force acts in the body being studied, not in external parts. Rails or line. Maybe it was just my impression anyway....
Salute
  • 1 1
Newton's third law: When one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body.

So it makes no difference for the analysis. So the centrifugal force of the coaster is the same as the centripetal force of the rails

'The live broadcast will be hosted by none other than action sports commentator Troy Manering supported by MTB and FMB World Tour expert Ryan Meyer. Their enthusiasm and energy will make sure you are just as pumped as the live audience.' ... yeah.. expert...
  • 9 4
So I'm going to have to mute the sound AGAIN then!
most of the 'live audience' will probably have ear plugs in if Meyer is on the announcers p.a ! God help them!
Can't they get someone who actually knows ANYTHING about the riders?
Warner would be perfect!
  • 5 2
Agreed, Warner is a REAL expert.
  • 14 2
at least you don't have the ''holy mutha trucker'' stoked guy
  • 6 2
Or maybe someone who knows what tricks are being done would help to
  • 8 0

 What the hell's a 360 downside whip? Isn't that a decade?
  • 2 0
^ he explained in the video, 360 downside, you body does a 360 and you kick the bike in the opposite direction and catch it on the way round, decade bike stays still you rotate 360 and land on it again, make sense?
  • 2 3
Wasn't it a lookback 360? Not Cali style ... What was worse though was that they didn't understand the format of the comp.. Like not knowing it was the finals
  • 1 0
Sorry just skipped to the finals before work. Nice of him to explain it during the slomo.

Terrible judging. How do you get 90 points on a run with a full on foot dab worth -10 points. Guess it would have been a 100 lol, NOT.
  • 1 0
 my thoughts exactly pal, shocking
  • 6 0
does anyone know a livestram for germany?
  • 2 1
I gotta say that- I've never seen such a shitty obstacle like this loop before in any other comp... I thought that the open loop on L2A track was the peak of stupidity but the Germans prooved me wrong. The idea of having the second option with the jump is cool, but who the hell designed the landing to be a 1 meter wide and therefore making almost impossible to trick it, even land it without trick- Lemoine was just a milimeters away from the crash and he just planned to get to the landing with no fireworks! I'm so bummed for Bizet, after hearing that he stomped double backflip and cashroll jump after jump in training session I was waiting for that in the finals... Next time Bizzy,U Animal!

My mate, who lives in Munich said, they wanted to have 60€ for entry. 30€ the cheapest ticket. There were long walls not to see, whats going on.. Not very friendly
