Redalp Launches New Enduro Bike

After the successful introduction of two Downhill Bike models, Redalp now launches their Freerider. This brand new model, the “Cascadeur FR” was developed for the European Enduro Racing scene. Built on the same frame as the DH bike, it is as robust and reliable as a Redalp Downhill Bike - see article from 2012 here.

Redalp sees the different Enduro Championships as the perfect platform to promote their patented chain drive system. With 180mm rear wheel travel on many bikes the rear suspension needs to be blocked to climb in order to avoid squat. Manufacturers attempted to get this problem under control by developing high tech systems, and even electronic devices. On Redalp Bikes, the patented chain link ensures a continuous smooth running of the rear suspension. While climbing, the rear wheel follows the slightest unevenness and guarantees maximum grip. During the descent the rider benefits of the long swingarm and high pivot point which make this bike so fast!

 you guys miss the point !!! it has an integrated bike stand in the top tube... its also made as a welding school project, you know, only 3 welds ! I guess it holds the least amount of weld on a modern aluminium bike, if that's anything positive....

"Faster," will only come w/ some big wins, so we'll see about that. I can't imagine all of those little extra bits adding to "reliability," and the price looks pretty scary knocking off "affordable," so what's next??? right, "Lighter," and this seems to match the KONA'S CARBON OPERATOR in the nect article here on PB, so they didn't get ahead of that curve either.

 it looks like there main concern when designing it was to have the straight beam from the rear axle to the head tub,. and that the suspension system, saddle mounting and drivetrain were afterthoughts. i know looks aren't everything but how did they think it was a good idea to go into production with something so ugly.

 It's very difficult to tell that the bike's design has Euro written all over it. It doesn't look Euro at all. It looks very 2013, very modern, very sleek, not boxy or worn out. Like I said, it's very non-Euro. It does not look like it was assembled by a 83-year-old blacksmith-turned-carbon/alloy-worker named Günther.

 I must say that I agree with everyone else, this is indeed an ugly bike and given what we all know about mountain bike design it seems clear this is going to fail! With that said however I'd still like to see the bike in action out on the trails and get some objective feedback from riders about their experience. This is clearly a serious company, and despite everyone's opinion on the bikes looks and design they spent a lot of time and money researching and building it so I'm holding judgement until I know more than what is shown in the pictures!

I really thought these wonky constructions went the away about 15 years ago, but it turns out that they apparently live on in the Swiss alps.

 The conception and design to most people are a disaster.What you (Redalp)have to do is offer some frames or bikes with a life and health insurance included in the packet to someone with capacity to run it in races ,someone in the 20th rank and lets see what is the Redalp capable .If they do times till 10th place maybe you sell some frames.If they will be time desqualifiyng or sistematically crash you have a great frame to hammer with a real hammer .
A few time ago Dartmoore ask here a name for a bike and offered a frame as a prime.Do the same but ask a design and you will have a real bike i´m sure.

 Well, I think some people on PB should look beyond the appearance of it. There are some interesting features on this bike such as the suspension cinematics (high pivot = great wheel path) or even the floating chain guide. Of course I'm not a big fan these bikes, they have many shortcomings (high center of gravity, it looks very different and it's heavy) but I think people should show a tiny bit more respect for the time spent by the guys who designed it.

 Wow, what's with all the hate? Am I the only one that would love to take it for a spin? Sure, It looks different, but is that bad? Imagine if all of our modern bikes looked like they did in 1997 because we assumed all different looking things were ugly. Sure, there are prettier bikes, but it doesn't mean this is ugly.
