Following on from 2013’s mind-blowing ‘Imaginate’, anticipation is building for the latest offering from Danny MacAskill, Epecuén, due for release on May 27th.

The latest film, directed by long time collaborator Dave Sowerby, will see Danny take his riding back to the roots of trials riding, exploring the forgotten town of Epecuén in Argentina, a location that has been submerged for the majority of the past 25 years. Pablo Novac, Epecuén’s only resident throughout the troubled times, gives a brief history of the location culminating with his thoughts that ''he can no longer see what use this place has for us now.’' MacAskill however has other ideas.

Danny MacAskill is renowned for pushing the levels of both his riding and filming with previous releases ‘Way Back Home’ and ‘Imaginate’ accumulating over 50 million views between them; Epecuén is set to raise the bar once again. Of the new project Danny said, “Following on from ‘Imaginate’, an amazing but intense project, I wanted to get back to riding my bike in incredible street spots that hadn’t been explored before. Epecuén has been a spot that has been in my mind for a while now and to have the opportunity to ride it is a dream”

As much as I like watching Danny ride, I feel like he's a victim of his own success in that I'm no longer really surprised by what he can do. I think I'm genuinely more interested in why a town flooded for years suddenly dried out again, but that's probably just me

El nombre...its not just you. I was thinking the very same. Its people like us that like to know the answers to oddities like this. Others are perfectly fine going through life clueless not ever wondering. It is people like us that take the time to find answers and maybe prevent things from happening again. Others just simply follow our lead. Its not just you. The world is just over populated with followers.

Getting called a sheep on pinkbike...didn't see that one coming. I never said I didn't care to know what happened to Epecuen, Danny's riding just really stokes me up!

Being an Argentine, and personally knowing Mr. Novac and the town of Epecuén, I've only this word for Danny and his team: RESPECT!

I give Danny and his movie creators a huge amount of respect. They always look for a new edge, making us connect to his surroundings and environment. makes me realize how incredible time is, what it does and how it makes me feel so small in this huge eorld of ours. Looking forward to this new movie and learning more about Pablo. Respect

did a quick search and came across a trailer for Pablo's Villa, a documentary about the man on the bike.
vimeo.com/88706281

In 1985, Pablo Novak watched as the picturesque holiday town of Villa Epecuén was submerged. Everybody abandoned the town, except for Pablo. Now, over 23 years later, this modern day Atlantis has finally re-emerged , and what remains of it has become Pablo’s home, and a place for his memories.

I always get geeked for Danny's videos. This spot looks beyond incredible and the riding and filming are always top notch. Im guessing I watch the video 15~20 times the first week it is out.

Reminds me of a quote from Dogtown and Z-Boys, something about the skater kids making art out of urban ruin and decay. Seems like a similar theme, finding possibilities in a desolate landscape. Cool concept!

Danny Macaskill is my favorite rider, mainly because he's had so much success in bringing mountain biking (even if it's trials) to the public via viral videos on the internet.

Definitely an opportunity for Danny to ride creatively out there which he likes to 'think out of the box' as he'd done in the past viral videos- really looking forward to see the outcome of this! Also it's helping promote Epecuen to the wider audience.

The video shows every single pinkbike user in 80 years from now. I mean.. still rolling. But wait there is a ninja jumping there. Who might it be?
