With the 2014 UCI World Cup season almost upon us we've been hanging out with the world's fastest racers to get an eyeful of what they've been up to in the off-season.

The second part of our series takes us down to New Zealand to visit Cam Cole. A hefty crash at the Andorran round of the 2013 World Cup brought an inpromptu end to his season before it had really got going. Airlifted from the trackside, it was one of the most serious crashes of the year and had fans around the world fearing for the likeable big Kiwi.

We catch up with Cam about the road to recovery, getting back on his bike and riding some of the best trails in the world every day.

Wish Cam the best for this season and Commencal, he's like the Matti Lenhikonen of NZed, so many injuries over the years, needs some luck to and hope the training has given him the edge to get through the whole season uninjured to do well, go hard big guy

I'd say he's a bit more consistent than Matti (both in terms of results and injuries).
I remember Warner saying about Cam (I think it was in Val Di Sole, but I'm not sure about the year) "this man has had more comebacks than Rocky"

Ragdoll.. Pretty accurate description for the tumble, it even made my ball bag wince. Wise words and seems a down to earth guy. Hope he does well.

Stoked to see something focused on Cam. Great rider and one of my fav characters on the World Cup circuit. Good luck this year.

Insightful, really well shot and a great look at how different riders approach their game. Really hoping Cam does well this year with a new start and new team. Such a humble and cool guy. Rooting for you this year Cam! Kill it!

DH looks fast but you never realize how fast until you see someone crash. All the best to Cam for keeping on it and looking at it as a process, good to see his positivity coming through.

What a awesome humble soft spoken dude! Kinda wish he didn't leave yeti but wish him the best of luck with commencal, he'll shred on whatever he's on

There is no Yeti mate. Cancelled their dh team, stopped making dh bikes. Told Richie Rude to race enduro or leave Yeti. You mad?
  • 1 0
I knew they canceled their dh team but did they really quit making the 303? That doesn't seem smart. I'm sure Richie wasn't forced into anything he chose. Not mad in the least.

so wait, is he sponsored by Red Bull now? Why would Red Bull do a full on interview like that if he wasnt sponsored by them...

"Go to a world cup, get 20th, who cares" I do. I would care to be 20th.
  • 2 1
Well, after a broken back I think 20th is already big xD
  • 4 0
He said it so casually, like it was no big thing, and my meaning was more: I would love to be 20th in a WC.

Oh, sorry ^^ yep, I said to myself the same thing Big Grin

I hate that crash feeling. Nothing fun about watching your bike get tucked underneath your front view...
