Minnaar Limited Edition V10 Replica 2013

Sorry for the bad photo resolution - PB up-load
issues. - RC

On September 1 2013, Greg Minnaar won a third World Championship title, on a stock Santa Cruz V10 downhill frame in front of his home crowd in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. To celebrate his back-to-back gold medals, we’ve created a limited edition Minnaar V10 replica of which only 25 will be made, 23 of which will be planted at select locations around the World. The bikes have a totally unique build, born from Greg’s collaboration with Syndicate race mechanics and team partners. From the aesthetics, such as one-off frame, wheel, fork, and saddle graphics, down to the specifics, such as the 808mm wide Special Edition ENVE Minnaarbar and cut down Shimano 7-speed 11-19 cassette. Equipped with stock Fox suspension and Shimano Saint groupset, the Minnaar V10 Replica is perfected with Chris King components, Burgtec stem, Gamut chain device and Maxxis Minion DHR II tires. Although Greg actually rides an XL, we’re offering the replica in four sizes, from small to extra large. If you want to secure a piece of Santa Cruz DH history, you’ll have to be swift.

Bike Stats:

Frame:
• Available: S, M, L and XL
• 7.9 lb (3.6 kg) M size with Fox DHX RC4 shock with 9.5” x 3.0” steel coil
• 10” (25.4cm) to 8.5” (21.6cm) of adjustable travel
• Custom South African decal set
• Molded rubber swingarm and downtube protectors.
• Integrated fork bumpers with cable guide.
• Carbon upper link - increased stiffness.
• Forged aluminum lower link with recessed grease ports.
• Collet axle pivots - lock in place without pinch bolts.
• Direct mount rear derailleur hanger.
• Full carbon dropouts and disk mounts.
• Co-molded aluminum hardware on upper pivot and bottom bracket - no bonding.

Build:
• Chris King headset and hubs, with 157mm rear axle spacing for easier wheel
installation.

Yeah, and if you got one where would you ride it? It's a 11,000 poster.
  • 80 10
$11K bike ?! youd be T-H-E biggest POSER in town hahaha what a joke !
  • 48 3
Not just in your town T-H-E WORLD!
  • 114 5
 Minnaar-Mandela Edition
  • 18 1
 dat saddle
  • 74 2
For 11k $, I could buy that... or I just buy another reasonable bike, a new complete gear, a helmet, couple of beers and a season pass for my favourite bike parks.
Doesn't look that cool though.
  • 40 6
11k isn't too far off of getting the best rig around... that's an insane amount of money to spend on a bike but I'm surprised people would be thrown off by that price. Seems kinda normal...
  • 163 3
Fully expecting to see "that guy" riding this bike next season at Whistler , with a matching TLD everything down to the shoe laces and socks, a leatt neck brace , roastin his brakes all the way down B-line.
  • 38 0
Why stock suspension? Wasn't Minaars bike full of RAD prototypes?
  • 69 0
probable reason for stock suspension is so it doesn't cost another 10k
  • 10 0
 ^ haha lol, most likely
  • 13 0
i feel like its more of a collectors item than a shred sled. i would rather rock a semi dialed setup i can beat up and send shit on rather than something i would have a heart attack over beating up on it
  • 11 1
Not hard to get to $11,000 on a bike those rims alone $$$$$

It's one thing to wear a football jersey replica when watching a game, but racing a replica bike is like playing football with someone else's jersey
  • 21 1
$11,000 to ride somebody else's hard-earned WC colors... Plus I doubt anybody here is even talented enough to take full advantage of that kind of a bike... I'm happy with my own ride thanks!
  • 10 0
^this. It's pretty cool as a show piece, but I can't imagine who this bike is for. If I was going to blow money on something like this I would just hang the frame on the wall as art, then use the components for my real bike. And who would ride around with someone else's number plate? I wouldn't even ride with my own.

I know this has nothing to do with the subject, but I really hate the ads with music on the front page, they scare the hell outta me everytime, specially when my speaker are cranked up and I don't fucken know it! Ok I feel relief now. Nice bike by the way, looks like the Mandela tribute edition.
  • 8 0
The stock suspension is probably down to the prototypes being prototypes, testing not open to non-factory riders.
  • 19 2
Just noticed, 11k and no Ti spring.....kinda odd you agree ??
  • 2 1
This is one hell of a bike, I just love it, but damn 11k for it... The bike is well worth it and if money wasn't a problem for me, I would get it. I mean, looking at everything you're getting on the bike itself, MSRP is within the range.
  • 4 1
@ kdstones; i dont see any world champs colours on the bike, only the colours of the south african flag. great bike, kinda like a minnaar/mandela tribute.
  • 4 0
 Man, that Cassette is Tiny.
  • 10 0
$11K is a deal when you consider that it comes with a free jersey.....
  • 14 0
People shit talking, but how many went out and got the Demo 8 after Sam won on it?
  • 5 2
Drop 11k on a bike that you can buy brand new without the special "color" scheme for 6k.. Solid
  • 2 0
Not getting that bike for $6000 add up those parts and rims are $3000 alone
  • 10 0
The MSRP for the V10 with Enve wheels is $10031 on the Santa Cruz website, and you're still not getting everything that you're getting on this build.
  • 9 0
People need to get over the cost of bikes everybody know this sports expensive. Im sure half of us spend that on beer each year.
  • 6 1
Bro, it comes with the number plate!
  • 18 2
Will it come with a flat tire?
  • 10 0
it says it comes with a replica rainbow jersey. Now if you bought this $11,000 bike wearing THAT jersey... you'd be the biggest poser in the world.
  • 5 0
 I'll take 3.
  • 1 0
@curtisf Greg is not sponsored by TLD, by the way.
  • 1 0
Il trade you one of my kidneys for the bike... Not sure if that will even pay it off.
  • 2 0
meh you get £25'000 for a kidney now days,.......not that i would of the black market trading or anything ''shifty eyes''
  • 1 0
Dear Santa,... Christmas is coming up and... you know what Im trying to say here.
  • 5 0
tranthony123 - that you want Megan Fox in your bedroom dressed up only in RSA national flag?
  • 3 0
$11,000? I would think twice before spending that kind of mouney on a motorbike, no f***ing way I'd pay that for a bike.
I'm riding a custom built Rocky Mountain Slayer which was about $3,5000 and I can't imagine what could I spend extra $7,500 for (the only things I'd like to get is a lighter carbon fibre frame and a lighter fork).
  • 3 0
 Isn't it a trick? Is it 11,000 or 11´000?
  • 5 0
nice! i'll tell servants to hang it on that beautiful rosewood bike stand in my huge mansion, just below glittering penis shaped chandelier and face it to very rare hand made persian carpet. And go to sleep knowing full well, that it's just a replica.
  • 1 0
Funny with all of you complaining about the cost of this rig. Here in Norway, the Gambler 10 retails at $11´000, this thing will probably go for around 20k..
  • 3 0
Yea but you earn freaking fortune comparing your average salaryto the rest of the world. When Swedes go to work to Oslo in the same way Poles go to Sweden or Norwegians come to shop in Sweden like Swedes to Germany you know that something is messed up... Smile
  • 1 0
session 9.9 10k stock and you see tons of those in whistler. so there is obviously a market for the bike
  • 1 1
^ Well I wouldn't necessarily say Whistler is a place to see the average rider that doesn't have enough money or talent to get that kinda bike... Whistler is very expensive to be around, let alone stay in the area and ride the bike park. Not many people can pull it off on a budget. That's why you camp and ride the trails around Whistler Wink
  • 1 1
doesn't even have a ti spring.
  • 2 0
@yjornthjefreerider it's a replica of the bike he raced on at the world champs, so it has SA colours as it's Minaar's country, no world champ stripes as he hadn't won when the paintjob was designed, and this was all while Mandela was still alive. The timing of its release is interesting though.
  • 2 0
I don't understand why everyone is bitching about the price. Only 25 are going to be made. It is clearly a "collectors item" not really a bike to be beaten up. I'd happily pay £11k for that if I had the money and I wouldn't ride it. I'd strip the parts and put most of them on my existing bike (the parts that will fit anyway) and hang the frame with seatpost and saddle still in the bike on my wall. And if I do ever brake my current frame and want to try Carbon then I may, JUST MAY, use this frame. It would be such a shame to wreck it though considering it is, in a way unique.
  • 1 1
I can't really fathom this as a collectors item... if I was a collector I'd want the actual bike, not a copy. The included raceplate & jersey are worthless.

The only way I'd want to buy or ride this bike is if I was South African, so I could roll with my country's colours...

 Launch a Steve Peat replica.
  • 39 0
So has she bought the bike or what?
  • 41 0
Be your own style of rider and keep original fellas. Thats what riding is all about.
  • 3 1
original... by buying a different stock bike that lots of others have, right?
  • 4 0
^ original by building your own custom rig from all the parts you choose. That's what most people do isn't it? That's what I always do.
  • 2 0
I do that as well, it's half the fun. but no. far more riders buy complete bikes. We're oddities, believe it or not. (Though obviously building your own ride is far more common on PB than in the general public.)
  • 37 2
$11,000 and no Ti coil? Sick though
  • 9 1
Stock Ti coil is a waste as the rider will probably want a different spring rate anyways
  • 1 0
for 11k i want every ti spring ever fricking made!!!!!! (sarcsm alert)
  • 33 0
SC should call it the Minnaar/Mandela special edition. Charge 100k for it. Bono would buy all of them.
  • 27 2
"Greg Minnaar won a third World Championship title, on a STOCK Santa Cruz V10 downhill frame"

"The bikes have a totally unique build, born from Greg’s collaboration with Syndicate race mechanics and team partners. From the aesthetics, such as ONE-OFF FRAME, wheel, fork,"

Makes total sense.
  • 3 0
yea i was doin some math here...
  • 7 0
the build was built with minnaar as collaboration, then became stock. the one-off part is talking about aesthetics, as in graphics and other visual content. it is a stock frame.
  • 3 0
The frame he rode was stock, the build kit was not. At least, that's what I gather from what they said...
  • 3 0
one-off frame, wheel, fork, and saddle GRAPHICS
  • 29 5
For that price That is not a bike - that is a premium troll food rich in hateamins and publicity value
  • 21 2
This is sick, but I couldn't even afford the regular one let alone this one
  • 17 1
erm just no. this just goes against a one off pro bike's appeal. its like riding a world champs jersey when you are not a world champ
  • 12 0
Lol I love it when I see someone wearing a raimbow jersey riding an allmountain bike at the marina.
  • 5 0
its like when you see the people in whistler riding b line slowly with a redbull helmet
  • 5 0
Don't hate on those folks Jackelope, they are waiting for the Redbull helmet to give them wings!
  • 4 0
Agree, anyone other than Minnaar is going to look a fool on this bike.
  • 1 0
if they make a stelth one with no stupid stickers or branding what so ever i'll take it. while we are on it i don't get why we pay for the privalage of putting a companys branding on our forks after a service. if they want me to put their name on something i want it to not only make it look better but also to be free.
  • 19 2
You'd have to be one dedicated fan boy to buy this
  • 9 0
It's a sick build and I'm sure it would be a blast to rail that thing through some gnar, but with the color scheme and the NUMBER PLATE I would feel like the biggest tool in the history of biking. If I painted world cup stripes on my dirt jumper and through a monster T on it I would still feel less like a poser.
  • 15 2
 Instant douche status.
  • 7 0
f*ck the price....only a pro should be riding this bike... soon youll be seeing a dentist riding slow as f*cking hell down telonics with this, and he'll be thinking how "pro" he is! Let the noobs buy a pros bike for 11gs and think they have ability. You and i, we'll just be shredding like we do every other f*cking day of the week! f*ck marketing!
  • 10 0
 Minnaarbar
  • 8 0
Great for Greg but as a regular rider I'd look like a tosser rolling on that thing. Replicas are for fanboys and posers.
  • 9 1
i'm gonna write this on my "i dont give a f*ck" list
  • 5 0
Well when you work out its less than 7 grand english its cheaper than the v10 full builds in the local SC dealers. although i think i'd much prefer a gambler and a second had bmw m3 for that cash
  • 9 5
If you put Enve weels on a Trek Session it will cost more than that 11k. You guys realy bitch a lot about prices. Just admit that in the next too year Sepecialized Trek an the others top brand will sell bike for 15k and more. Maybe you dont have the money go ride a Glory that cost 1/4 that price and shure you will have tons of fun. Shure not the same fun of riding a ligther and better suspention disign V-10. But maybe the ones that complain abaout the 11k price dont have money to buy even a 500 bucks hard tail. This is a race bike, you forgot that a race car cost millions of dollars?
  • 2 1
Most race cars are in the hundred thousands, not millions. But you're still right, a race anything is going to be ludicrously expensive.
  • 1 1
not unless they put an electric motor on it! 15k will be reached in about 4 yrs without it!
  • 1 0
And if you look at the gloty itmhas the uci stripes one the head tube
  • 2 0
How can someone understand how people use 10k watches just for look at the hours that you can see on a
  • 1 0
On a 2 dollar watche. Today there a lot of expencive products and bike are like that. Look at road bikes with frames that cost 10k! The only problem is to have the money to buy.
  • 4 0
Sweet, so you can expect 25 of these to be regurgitated back onto the market in 12 months time at a quarter of the price after Richie Rich realizes he cant ride the bike effectively in the car park, then on-sells it to some shredder so he can pay to have his manbeard manicured.
  • 5 0
Everyone hating on this would have a huge shit-eating grin on their face if they even had the opportunity to ride it, let alone buy it.
  • 3 1
You would have to really like stickers to buy this bike. For 11k you could get the same bike specced out to the max. I can therefore only conclude that the stickers and the #1 plate cost in the region of 2 grand. Still...every man to his own.
  • 8 0
 But 808mm bars......
  • 8 1
Odd rob, that's not true. Building a bike like this at full msrp pricing would cost over 11g.
That's a 3000$ wheel set alone, with a 2500$ fork and a 3500$ frame, that's 9000$ already.
This bike doesn't spare a dime. Everything is the best, and all those expensive small parts add up.
  • 6 0
Try building it full MSRP in Aus and see how much change you have from $16000.
  • 2 0
I just got my v10c pretty decked out and it came to 11k. Rec retail would have been 12.5 for mine. Don't think you would get much change out of 12 for that build.
  • 2 2
But 808 what? Your not gona buy just couse it has a super giant bar? Just cut it.
Hard to see a small frame with a bar big like that...
  • 2 4
Actually you are both kind of right - the bike would cost $10,031 plus $1657 for the extra bits (bars, seat post, marsh guard, stem, hubs, headset, cranks, chain device) - so the total would be around $11,700.....however, you would be taking off £1695 worth of parts (the hubs and carbon cranks on the stock V10 are over $1000) so it would be only fair to take this into account, which leaves you with a bike that costs $10,000 - so that's $1000 for some decals, a re-covered seat and a number plate Big Grin
  • 1 0
For that ridiculous price, it better come with some goodies... Maybe attracting all the girls. If anyone buys this, they arnt going to use it to its full potential. I mean its a sick bike and all but really... I think the colorfulness of the bike adds a few grand itself haha. Its the Christmas Colors! Lets be Festive!
  • 8 2
 Dear Santa!...

I came to this link hoping to have a chance to win this.... then sell it... then spend the winning $$ on a work free hastle free summer.

  • 1 0
both my bikes ( am and Dh ) together barely scrape 11 G
  • 3 2
Its a super bike..! I suggest to use the money for help people in the tird world...you can get 83 buffalo bike from World Bicycle Relief with that amount....or get a pair of plane tickets to Africa, bring your bike and camera and spend a week riding were he rode!
  • 4 0
the sad thing is that an old squid like me is more likely to end up onit than someone who can really use it
  • 3 0
Notice the 7 gears only. Hint to the bike industry we don't NEED 10 speed DH bikes. It's useless to have that many the pros realize it even
  • 2 0
I dont have nothing against Greg Minnaar but Steve Peat have done much more for the team, so when santa cruz build a bike for Peat $ 6000 dollars cheaper i will buy. We love you Steve you old bag.
  • 1 0
11K may sound expensive (and it is), but really, put it context, it isn't that expensive when you consider that the non special edition with Enve wheels is $10,031 on the Santa Cruz website (w/o free jersey). And this build has more Enve than stock.

www.santacruzbicycles.com/en/v10-carbon#builder
  • 3 1
Greg Minnaar actually EARNED the right to ride a bike decked out in his home colors, and a #1 plate. It's appalling to know that any douche with a trust fund can just go out and buy one.
  • 1 0
Anyone who says 11k for a bike "isnt that bad" has either lost there mind or has 0 sence of worth. I dont care how much the stock version costs or the sessions cost, there all waayyy over priced to. Prices of mountain bikes these days are ridiculous! Iv rode bikes for many years now and plan to for many more. But theres a list atleast 10 pages long of ways I would rather spend 11gs then one 1 pedal bike.
  • 1 0
One beautiful piece of machinery. But it's a personal taste thing, and it probably doesn't hurt that I'm South African too. So all those busy colors actually mean something to me. To the uneducated I can see how it might look over done and complicated but then again you probably also don't know what the South African flag looks like or what the colors symbolize.
  • 1 0
Really curious what cassette that is and which cogs they exactly use in this 11-19 7 speed setup (cog sizes)

On topic:
Even though i like the v10's alot, these decala are to much in my opinion
  • 2 0
The number board, really? Steezus Christ I can't believe you'd actually make a signature numberboard too, it's a bit stupid hahaha
  • 3 0
sick rig no doubt! i think for $11,000, i'll just go pick me up a 2015 yamaha yz 450f instead.
  • 1 0
It's not even an investment. I can't see spending $11k and making a profit on it down the road if it was never ridden. Or could I? Anybody know about resale of collector's item bikes?
  • 1 0
Even tough i can afford the bike, i won't buy it. Not a good investment. Bike like this is only worth something if the person that they name the bike with passed away. Also, it's not a Minnaar signed bike.
  • 2 1
 Ûber awesome.
I would love to have one.

Why not at least make them with custom graphics for whatever country the prospective customer is from? Yes i know it would no longer be a Greg Minnaar special but maybe then there'd be more than 2 or 3 people even remotely interested in buying one. Mandela bandwagon??

Of course its fully stock. The bike couldn't be any better than the way its built.
  • 1 0
If it was a "peaty" edition I'd be all over it. Lol. Thus selling my car and present rides would leave me broke.
