Rocky Mountain's riders are a diverse bunch, and we take pride in that. Our Altitude platform is equally diverse, so with this Fourtitude video we set out to explore what four very different riders could bring to the Altitude 790 MSL.

Wade Simmons Andreas Hestler Thomas Vanderham amp Geoff Gulevich all ride the 5.18 lb Altitude 790 MSL frame. The Ride-9 system allows them to set their geometry amp suspension rates up in a variety of ways Wade runs it slackest Thomas runs it in slacker amp progressive forward amp down aka Vanderham Mode both Dre amp Gully run the bike neutral amp progressive furthest down .
Wade Simmons, Andreas Hestler, Thomas Vanderham and Geoff Gulevich all ride the 5.18 lb Altitude 790 MSL frame in the video. The Ride-9 system allows them to set their geometry and suspension rates up in a variety of ways. Wade runs it slackest; Thomas runs it in slacker & progressive (forward & down, aka "Vanderham Mode"); both Dre & Gully run the bike neutral & progressive (furthest down).

Wade wanted to showcase the kind of "steep & deep" technical riding that he enjoys on a daily basis. These natural steeps lurk on Vancouver's North Shore, but rarely see bikes that aren't full travel downhill rigs. We're pretty sure The Godfather would be stylish on an old 10-speed too, but it's always humbling to see him bring flow to the burliest lines.

Andreas "Dre" Hestler is an Olympian and has plenty of experience racing TransAlp and Enduro events, so it's no surprise that he coaxes blistering speed out of the Altitude. For Fourtitude he took it to Squamish, where he gunned for some Personal Bests on one of the nicest trail networks around.

Thomas Vanderham likes to take each new bike to Kamloops - a landscape he knows and loves, and the Altitude was no exception. For its maiden voyage he took it out for some true trail blasting, from corner slashing to his patented whips.

Geoff Gulevich is better known for his slopestyle riding, but he was excited to bring his playful approach to the Altitude. He decided to shoot his section on a short road trip through Oregon, where he had a few tricks up his sleeve.

Holy shit, people speaking such "language" by the vid of a guy riding a trail/AM bike! The history is made! 650B wheels are officialy jumpable with style! The next step in progression of the sport is such discussion by the vid with a 29er.
  • 2 0
found it haha.. anyone who says they dont barspin their floor pump is a dirty liar... or a roadie
  • 23 0
The Rocky vids are always awesome.

No Tippie in this one? I guess it's hard to make promo videos in the dark...
  • 4 0
not when you have a glow in the dark rocky!! Razz
  • 5 0
 Rocky mountain vids never disappoint!
  • 1 0
Neither do their bikes. Keep up the good work Rocky!
  • 1 0
 Exactly...

I'd like to see Mark Weirs face when he gets the email....uh oh, someone just stole your KOM
  • 9 1
Not to comment twice on the same video, but.... that step up that gets flipped at the very end? Doesn't look very big, but having hit it just this weekend I can confirm that it is HUGE.
  • 2 0
Yeah... to think that's not very big in the first place is silly but what's even more silly is the fact that he flipped that thing with no lip what-so-ever. Gully aint right in the head.
  • 12 0
 This is mountain biking.
  • 11 6
Send Thomas, Gully and Wade to Enduro World Series! They have a dozen of World Champions but not enough "original Freeriders". Tippie will lead the charge! The market demands that! Thanks that you are sharing with us and sending the old man to the old continent sometimes, we need his vibe around here!

 Tippie For Prime Minister!

Well, I know it's not a site for music, but the beat of Onra's No Matter What is absolutely sick! And it fits the video amazingly when Wade starts to shred. Great job on this video and with such a great riders there is no anything else to say. But I don't like the bike. It does look big. Maybe not that big only in Thomas' hands, but he is a tall guy.

This was an excellent video, I've never owned an RM before but really like the look of their new frames (this one and the Element), this video has seriously made me consider them now.

They are amazing, I've had a slayer since '07 and it's literally taken everything from long XC to heavy DH.
  • 1 0
Agreed...I have an 08' Slayer. Just now starting to think about a new bike for next year. Slayer has served me well. Handles great as a heavy (kinda) XC bike and endure style. I took it to Keystone and to SolVista for DH thought and that was precisely what prompted me to buy a Demo. I used to work in a shop that sells Rocky so I have ridden a few of them. Great bikes.
  • 2 0
The only problem owning one in the UK is that the distributor has stopped so I have to order bike specific parts from Canada, which sucks a bit. I'd love a flatline, although I'm thinking of converting to a transition 250 as that seems more my kinda thing.

Wade's segment was a nice tip of the hat to his segment in Ride To The Hills - b&w and the music was very close too.
Awesome vid.
  • 2 0
 exact same thought!
  • 4 0
He made the spinal moves on Wild Cherry look like a ride on a paved bike path
  • 3 0
ridiculous riding and in snow! ?!
  • 1 0
The Wild Cherry moves are terrifying on DH bikes! The old man still has the skills...
  • 1 0
Ran into Wade on wild cherry while he was shooting. It was pissing rain that day too
  • 2 0
Exactly what all have said. If all of you pinkbikers out there could see the trail in Wades section in real life, you'd be blown away. He makes probably one of the hardest trails in the world look incredibly easy. Well played sir

That kind of promotional video is fun to watch.
It's cool to see different riders riding the same bike with their own style and abilities.
BUT, I'm not sure how this bike would endure such torture in the long run, in the hands of a "normal" rider.
Hitting huge drops and jumps with a 5.8lbs carbon frame and a Fox CTD rear shock all day long ? Not sure.
Remember Mike Montgomery fliping a road bike ? Not for everyone.

I've been running one of these bikes since April. It survived Kananaskis Country, Pemberton, Squamish & North shore with minimal issue's & no mechanical failur. It's bullet proof as far as a trail bike goes.
  • 3 1
Cool bike, but I get the feeling that none of them were pinning as hard as they could have been on a specific bike, and none were flicking around as much as you would on a 26". Don't get me wrong, would love to try one! It just wasn't, for me, the most inspiring video.
  • 4 0
Would have loved to have seen Tippie in the gravel pits for this one. Amazing video. All amazing riders.
  • 5 0
Bar spin to can can at 3:37 is awsome!
  • 1 0
RM has the best videos for their adds!! Completely blow away by the talent and diversity in this edit, however, I am surprised that the bike hasn't had received better reviews.
  • 2 0
this video makes you want to get out and ride. oh yeah and that strava bit was clever! all around awesomeness - well done rocky!

There's definitely too many cables on the cockpit these days.
Looks like string puppet or something Smile
  • 8 1
Different strokes for different folks. Gully's just runs 2 brakes & one shifter.
  • 3 1
U sure that it isn't Charles Russels bike? Big Grin

Sweet vid you guys and the bike looks ace!
  • 1 0
yeah, whats up with that cockpit? ok, new technology and stuff, but they could at least have made it cleaner-looking.

Fox Racing Shox has won the Bernard London's prize in bicycle design category, with their largest and easiest snapping lever in the history of cycling. They have even beaten Scott´s bar adjuster for equalizer shock.

Suspension lock-out will die as the time of electronics is upon us. With SRAM confirming XX1 "tech" to trickle down to X0 and X9 latest 2015, we can have a moment of silence for that one humble cable coming out from the left hand shifter. It was a part of everyone's early days of riding, it will disappear from 99% of exclusive mountain bikes, but the saddest thing is that no one will miss it. No one save those who still ride tripple chainsets. Let their souls ride in peace on fire roads as long as they don't resent trekking and touring which they practice unconsciously, disguised as MTBers.
  • 1 0
Waki... the front shifter has already disappeared from my bar and has been replaced by that "award winning" remote, by far the most natural and easy to use cable actuated seatpost remote I have tried (ks,spesh and crank bros), even when it is full of our fine kamloops dust or the coasts fresh loam the remotes lever length allows it to actuate easily, I personally think it is genius and recommend it to anyone willing to give 1x10 a try it is totally worth it and you wont miss it.
  • 1 2
I can't believe you disliked KS, just can't... it works smoother than Reverb and requires TLC around the cable not more often than Reverb needs bleeding. I don't care how well it works, my Reverb worked awesome until piston in the lever, broke off. Probably due to the fact it is made out of fossilized poo. It is bad engineering, you don't do such shit on a mountain bike, which tends to roll and bounce during a crash. At least they could make it so it has a sturdy base so it deals with impacts like brake lever. But no... why? Cuz it would be EVEN heavier? Do you need 50 seals on this bit as well in order to do an overhaul on it?
  • 1 0
I have not tried the new lev but i was not a fan of changing cables after every muddy ride on my girlfriends i900r because the remote no longer worked... she on the other hand is going back to the ks from the fox doss as her hand is not large enough for the fox remote, which does make you comment very valid...

Killer flow, way to up the stoke!

Just bought one of these yesterday...the 750...so I guess I can just go out and ride like this now. Cool!
  • 1 0
Friggen sick- thanks for the effort Rocky marketing team.... im off to your website now! That tune really made my morning!
  • 1 0
Hey what rise handlebars do enduro riders prefer. hard to tell if it is 15 or 30
  • 1 0
I loved the technical riding at the begging, I'd rather watch that than blazing fast DH any day.
  • 1 0
Top vid! And nice bike, but to me looks like too much could go wrong with it......
  • 2 0
Well, that's how you make buy a bike
  • 2 0
Well that's how you make a video as well Smile

Anybody know the bar Vanderham was using?
  • 1 0
 Nice one, cheers buddy!

That is the best ad for an All Mountain slayer I've ever seen. ...until I watched the Knolly ad.
  • 1 0
I just love RM vids, they're the best and always show how much fun u get on a bike Smile
  • 1 0
The video got even better when the music stopped and you just heard the sound of the bike.
  • 2 0
So much badassery in this video. Thanks for the edit, guys!
  • 1 0
 * Warranty does not cover being as rad as Vanderham and Gully on the Altitude. Wink
  • 1 0
Wade just looks so smooth in that. The old boy is still the best at that steep techy stuff for me.
  • 1 0
Awesome editing, riding and music. That was spot on imo Smile
  • 1 0
That's a very pretty bike. I like it. I like it a lot.
  • 2 1
Best video I've seen in a while!
  • 3 5
So it does diverse downhill, you apparently have to walk it up everywhere. Don't forget Rocky some of us like challenging uphill too. Were Wade's trails in Kamloops? That looked fun.
  • 1 0
Hah, sorry, we should have included a bit of climbing. Give an Altitude a try, they climb tech singletrack really well! And Wade's section was all on the Shore, not Kamloops.
  • 1 0
Seemed to climb like crazy for me today. Much better than my heckler.
  • 2 0
I demo'd this bike a little over a month ago to see what the hype was all about….trying to see if all this 650b stuff was more of the same 29er hype. Took it to Fromme. Decided I wasn't going to hold back. Wanted to completely punish it and did. Ran the strava for fun. 3 personal records and 2 top 10's. Not bad for never riding this bike! This bike is so fast up and down the hill I couldn't believe it. This bike is next to flawless. It's funny they're calling it a trail bike, because it rides like a super aggressive AM bike, but climbs like a goat on steroids. Two downsides…the bike is completely unavailable to buy and the bushings in the pivots instead of bearings. Bearings will always be worth the weight penalty.
  • 1 0
Bushings: it ain't all about the weight... It's about stiffness and durability too.
  • 1 0
I'm glad they cut the music for the backflip at the end.
  • 1 0
What app was Hestler using on his iphone?
  • 5 0
The "i'M faster than you" app.
  • 1 0
Strava. Dre is all over it.
  • 1 0
 Sweet, thanks L-train!
  • 2 1
So I guess my Flatline is overkill now.
  • 2 0
hahahaha. I think we have to realize these guys are like race car drivers. If anyone has tried surfing or does surf you can appreciate how difficult it is to be really good at. Yet, guys like Kelly Slater can surf the front door of your house. While most of us choose our bikes based on what terrain and skill level we ride at, Im pretty sure any one of these guys could ride world cup DH tracks on those bikes and do so better than us on our full-on DH bikes.
  • 2 0
As someone who;s been surfing for 25 years, I can agree to that... Looks SO easy... Then you get in the water. Worst part is being from Oregon it's already a test of strength to even WANT to get in the water... Then I moved to Australia for a few years and when I got home??? yeah I don't want to surf as much anymore. Australia ruined me. Wink hahahahaha.

low volume air shocks suck a fat one
  • 2 0
Hi volume air cans have been replaced with hi volume eyelets. Same effect, without the weight or the damper insulating effect. So, yeah.

You know what also sucks? Inappropriate air springs for a given suspension design. Low air volume may be necessary on some platforms, not others.
