Island Grown is a project Luke and I have been working on for the past four months. Filmed exclusively on Vancouver Island, Luke built the majority of stuff in this edit. Between him working and me going to school we didn't have much spare time to build and shoot. It was a grind to get this finished; there were times when we were up in the bush building at night with headlamps on. It feels great to finally have Island Grown done. Thanks to everyone who helped us make this happen.

Luke would like to thank his sponsors for their great support: Cove Bikes, Smith Optics, Geax Tires, Dakine, Vans, Marty's Mountain Cycle, and Sombrio.

This video exemplifies what I love about mountain biking: creativity out in the woods with friends. Pure, simple, fun.

PS: So stoked on the resurrection of the crankflip... its been too long.

^Great demonstration of what freeriding is all about. Not only is it about riding your bike up building the things to ride it on as well. Great edit! Love the vibe and the mysterious landscapes. There were a couple shots that where a little out of focus, but regardless my vote for VOD.

Nice work Mr. Walker!

Congrats guys, on putting this edit together. I know the time it must have taken to build all those features start to finish and then execute on riding and shooting it all. You guys killed it. The finished product shows your dedication to the project.

By far one of the greatest videos I'VE seen on this site. Made it into my top-ten overall, and I've been a member for just about 4 years. Nice job! And I hope to see more like this soon? I'll be looking. Salute

The music in this was bang on. Love the diversity of the songs and happy it was any of the 5 songs that everyone else uses. The riding was top notch. I'm dying to get myself out to BC, one day....

I dont care for for pump track videos, boring terrain and the same ol tricks. This kid brought some sick style to the pump track! What really sold me was how green he was able to keep the surrounding areas around the pump track. When I watch videos if i can picture myself in that terrain I enjoy the video more. Was an awesome video in the pump and then he hit us with freeride! AWESOME! great riding and a great edit!

Great to see more COVE BIKES in action. There should be more videos out there displaying what fine Canadian craftsmanship can do. Awesome edit btw. The Replay Button was definitely being abused on this video. Great work.

His Cove (I think the STD) is the best looking and best set up freeride bike I have ever seen. That thing is awesome with fox and saint stuff!

When people are 10 feet in the air are they secretly terrified they are about to die?
  • + 2
10 ft isn't too bad. When you get in the 15-20ft range you have enough hang time to reconsider your decision to send it.
