Trails: A Documentary

In many places, mountain bikes have limited trail access. A friend and I set out to find out why.

Documentary on mountain bike trail access inside.Mountain biking is a sport that is not only incredibly fun, but good for you too. But in many places, like where I live in Marin (the birthplace of Mountain Biking), mountain bikes have very limited trail access. For instance, here in Marin there are a few hundred miles of singletrack trail open to hikers, and only a little more than 20 miles of singletrack open to bikes.

Being a mountain biker and someone who is always looking for a new, fun, and challenging trail to ride, this upsets me. Before this project, I didn't understand why bikes had so little access to trails, and it was something that really frustrated me (as it still does). So, to try to learn more about the issue and try to figure out some things that could help solve it, a friend and I set out to make a short documentary dealing with the issue of recreational trail access, especially pertaining to mountain bikes.

Below is a documentary we made dealing with mountain bike trail access.

Because we want to keep exploring the issue and trying to find solutions, this is not a finished product, and we would love to hear any feedback, commentary, questions, or ideas you may have.

Because of some technical difficulties, the video is in two parts, but they are made to be watched together.
