The Silver Mountain Bike Park Sneak Peek is Memorial weekend

Silver Mountain Bike Park is a whole new place! The last two years have been a complete transformation with lots of improvements including eight brand new trails and fresh start for biking at Silver. Access is provided by two lifts, including North America’s longest gondola, and access 3,400’ of vertical and 35 trails. From full on downhill trails to jump lines and mellow beginner single track, Silver is building a destination bike park that riders of all abilities can enjoy and push themselves at. Riders have enjoyed the progress and showed it by voting Silver Mountain Bike Park to the #1 spot in the Northwest in the 2014 Mtbparks.com riders poll.

Improvements go beyond the miles of new and rebuilt trails to include 7 day a week operations, a brand new fleet of Kona rental bikes, new maps, signage and the Silver Race Series - a fun, affordable and easy to approach downhill racing. Silver owns the vast majority of the property that the bike park is built on which allows for a quick turn around from idea to trail construction, so new trails are being opened at a rapid rate. With plans to continue expansion for the foreseeable future and ridership growing at a surprising rate the bike park has a bright future ahead of it.

At the base of Silver Mountain is the Gondola Village, located just minutes from I-90. Stay at the Morning Star Lodge, right in the village, which boasts secure bike storage rooms (bring your own lock), bike wash stations and access to Idaho’s Largest Indoor Waterpark. Once you arrive, everything you need is located right here with lodging, dining, bars, bike rentals and much more just a few steps from the gondola. Staying at the Morning Star lodge? After riding you can peel off your knee pads and hit the surfing wave or enjoy a beverage while you soak in the hot tubs, watch TV and plan your next day of riding.

This is a Sneak Peek so we will not have Chair 3 running, this means full top to bottom runs with 3,400 feet of vertical each. This also means we will not have a beginner route open all the way to the bottom, we recommend this weekend for experienced riders only. If you ride Frankenbeans, be prepared to pedal up Moose Knuckle to get back into the trails, same with Cool Neatness. Hot Mess, Happy Day and Crescent will be CLOSED. We do not have our rental fleet yet, but we do have a bunch of shiny new Kona bikes on their way for our regular opening on 6/13.

After Monday we will close until June 13th, when we go to our normal operation schedule. That means another three weeks with the trail crew grinding away at projects like giving Hot Mess a face lift and many others for your bike shredding pleasure. We will have everything open including Chair 3 and a full quiver of 2015 Kona Downhill and Trail bikes.

Wow, it's been years since I've ridden up there. About 20 years to be exact. Back then there was nothing up there to ride. Cheers to Silver to get some great trails built. Looks amazing.
