Brendog Signs With Scott for Another Three Years

Brendan Fairclough

Brendan Fairclough has re-signed with the Gstaad-SCOTT Downhill team for three more years. Team Manager Claudio Caluori continues with the existing roster that he has set up over the last few years: “Having one of the most inspirational mountain bikers in the world on the team for at least three more seasons is of great value to us. There are not many guys out there who race among the Top Ten in the Downhill World Cup and constantly generate next level media content like Brendog does.”

Brendan Fairclough, along with Neko Mulally is heavily involved in the product development at SCOTT. “Being part of the Gambler’s development was something that really intrigued me when signing a few years back- this is still true today. We’ve taken many steps to make this bike faster, and I’m excited to continue that over the next few years”, Brendan states. The exceptionally good relationship with the R&D dept. and the entire team at SCOTT has been one important piece of the puzzle for Brendan’s re-signing and for continuing the successful partnership.

Brendan Fairclough giving it full beans on his first run.

Team mate Neko Mulally and Brendog have become good training partners and will push themselves once they meet up for the first tests in 2016. “Having Neko on board has been quite beneficial. We swap ideas on line choice, bike set up, etc… The team runs smoothly with the two of us. I’m just looking to do more of the same for the next three years. Keep pushing for the top step,” Brendan adds. For the moment, however, both of them are riding in different parts of the world. Neko is already training hard in the USA for next season while Brendog recently competed in Rampage and has been working on several video projects, including a cameo in the #HuntforGlory webisodes of XC World Champion Nino Schurter.

Even with a flat tire Brendan Fairclough is entertaining to watch.

Goals in 2016
The podium of the Downhill World Cup is the natural goal of each of the two team pilots. Caluori himself feels positive about landing some top results next season, he gave a good example of how to start prepping. “Nino Schurter just took me out for the first training on XC skis. Brendan better makes sure I don’t smoke him during the first tests next spring. Otherwise we’ll put him in the commentary box with Rob Warner so he can comment on my comeback to World Cup racing!

He may never win a world cup (although I sincerely hope he does), but will always be top of many peoples list of favourite riders. I wish I had 10% of the feeling he has for a bike underneath him.

There should be some sort of industry insider article on that. Thanks for the breaking news.

Brendawg is one of those priceless assets. He should do an edit with Bernard Kerr.

Amazing rider. Influential and pushing the sport on. How many other top ten riders own trail spots, free ride and hit rampage!? Not many! Got to hang with him on the beers at crankworx '12 and it was an awesome night! Legend!

Brendog and bas van edit please. both tld riders so could happen?
  • 39 0
@viatch they could probably do an edit where brendog is entirely on the back wheel and kerr entirely on the front.
  • 4 0
brendog and Atwill edit !! epic riders with epic styles!!
  • 1 1
If brendizzle wasn't riding a bike surely he would be a top notch fluffer.

Dear Scott: You guys are intelligent. This rider is not only amazing on the bike, but everyone loves him, AND he does amazingly well in both WC races and rampage, also producing a lot of trail videos and stuff. I think you have one of the best riders (in terms of completeness and media exposure => giving back to the brand) available. Of course you already know all this, good on keeping him. Sincererely: everyone.

 totally agree!

But: Dear Scott, please stop decreasing the build component quality of your Gambler LineUp while maintaining the same pricing. Compared to multiple other offerings in the market the component selection becomes a big joke!

I don't think it's just a gambler problem either. I ride and travel a lot and the only time I ever see Scott's are as bike shop rentals. There's quite a vibrant scene in south Wales at the min of gravity riding and I don't know 1 person who's got one or mentioned them when looking for a new dream bike.. I'm sure realistic pricing would change that tho as they make some pretty sweet bikes!

Scott make some of the most lust worthy trail bikes out there, but I'm not paying £6,000 for one.
  • 68 2
Single-handedly turned Scott into a desirable brand, for me anyway.

Brendan is by far one of my most favorite riders! Brendog for the win..!
  • 4 0
He gets my vote for favorite rider.

He's an awesome dude. I loved it last year at Lourdes when he crossed the line and couldn't hang on. Talk about giving 100%!
  • 3 4
 Really?

2014 - Placed 14th overall in UCI
2014 - Placed 4th in Worlds (no chain)
2015 - Placed 25th overall in UCI

Most guys never crack top 20 at this level. I think he's earned his keep.
  • 4 0
 Neko that is..wrong thread...bottom line..Neko Top 25 since 2012
  • 6 0
So, if they just get Neko, Aaron and Brendan on the same team, they could just develop a bike without a drivetrain and do well. I wonder what that amount of freedom with the suspension system would allow them to create.
  • 4 0
Damn that would be an awesome team. Talk about skills... Funny enough though Scott are probably one of the companies that could afford / want to pay for Gwin
  • 42 1
Mullaly needs to deliver next season
  • 3 0
True, but IIRC he smashed his wheel at the top of the Lourdes track in race 1 and was carrying injuries for most of the season after that?
  • 1 0
i dont think there were any injuries?
  • 2 1
Maybe it's the bike, the Gambler is definitely one bike that doesn't look like a Session
  • 4 0
Yep. He had a massive crash in Port Angles early on in the season. From what I hear, he was lucky to be racing the following World Cup... At least he kept it on the DL and didn't use it as an excuse.

Great news with very little corporate wishy washy bollocks.

I get such a good vibe from watching the Gstaad videos. They seem really genuine, more about having fun than most other teams.

Well if CC is your boss fun is your full time job.

 Love this sentence:

"The podium of the Downhill World Cup is the natural goal of each of the two team pilots. Caluori himself feels positive about landing some top results next season"

Makes it sound like Claudio is racing again Big Grin

Brendan really showed his class last year on the WC circuit, Rampage and various other events and video updates / exposure.

A top asset to Scott and his other sponsors - He seems to look just 'right' on that bike too!
  • 2 0
Don't forget picture of the year, 2014 I think it was.
  • 9 0
"Otherwise we’ll put him in the commentary box with Rob Warner so he can comment on my comeback to World Cup racing!"

Maybe Brendan will need another partner...Rob and Claudio can both make a comeback!

One of the nicest down to earth blokes ive met. He raced a Gravity Project race last year and took alot of time out to sign stuff and pose for photos with the juniors. A real credit to the sport.
  • 8 0
Always rooting for Brendog! How can you not? Surely hope he gets a win this year!!
  • 5 1
Bumped into Brendan at my local trails in Woburn a few years back as I was just properly into biking and he was nice enough to have a chat. Always been an inspiration since then always followed him in the wc calendar and rampage etc one of the main reasons I ride a Scott too hah
  • 4 1
Love that guy,If we would get some even steeper and more technical WC tracks,Brendan would have a really big chance of winning.
