Shop Local for sure. The only things that are a good deal are the parts from CRC and they are all leftover closeouts and half of them I can beat or match. I can match or beat all the prices from the Dunbar, Calgary and Jensen on the stuff advertised here. Don't pad the pockets of some big wig INVESTORS who don't give a crap about Mountain Biking. I realize the owners probably love mountain biking as do most of the employees. The sad thing is there are people behind the scenes of those companies who only care about the bottom line. When people ask me if I can match or beat a price, I will tell them if I can't. Sorry if your local shop doesnt do this, look for small local shops who don't have a million dollars worth of inventory and therefore a ton of overhead. places like that cant afford to sell any lower than MSRP
Just because a shop has a different business model than you doesn't mean they don't care about cycling. I don't know who owns Jensen or Calgary, but the guys a Dunbar are in it for the love of the sport.
You clearly don't know much about Dunbar or Calgary Cycle. They are both a 'local lbs' that have been around for years and years, who both happen to have an online component. I've dealt with both over the years, living in both Calgary and Vancouver, and they've both been great. They also invest a ton of time and money into the local trail organizations. Ironically Calgary cycle, is more of a traditional lbs than the monstrosity that is Bow Cycle.
Passion for the sport is great for business but, you don't have much of a business if you don't watch the bottom line. You included. I would rather spend my money at a shop that I know is going to be there 6 months from now.
Those five ten hellcats aren't a deal, I got a pair several months ago for $75. These online deal articles are never an actual deal. If you google shopping most of this stuff you can find it cheaper that what's listed above.
since when are hellcats normally 175??? I got minnaars around last years christmas for 113 direct from the fiveten site and they're usually more expensive than hellcats
Those 661 Rhythms are a pretty good deal... $20 down from $57. So.... I bought them. I won't use them on dh rides but they should be a great option when I'm on my Nomad pedaling my ass off.
While I agree with the shop local crowd 100%, its not always an option for people, my LBS is run by some real morons and the next closest one is nearly an hour away. That's jenson USA's store so its practically the same as buying online.
yes they did.....
