Paddy Kaye and his build crew did phenomenal work on the battlefield. Riders agreed this was the best course yet.

Game time at mountain biking's Super Bowl
Brayden Barrett-Hay grabbed the alternate spot for Joyride based on his FMB points total. The first rider to drop, he went down on this tailwhip and was unable to compete. We're hoping for a quick recovery - Brayden shreds!
New Zealand might be famous for their sheep but they've got another famous export: a big bird known as McGazza
Kelly McGarry had his best slopestyle run ever today, linking together spins, flip tables, and a front flip. We can't wait to see him at Rampage.
Kelly's got some of the sickest flip tables in the game
Gully taking style cues from Derek Zoolander.
''Sometimes when you think you're going to have a bad day, you have a good day. I'm feeling pretty shitty so hopefully I'll ride well.'' Gully rode well. Top 10 on the day.

T-Mac attack: double whip-tastic.
It looks like T-Mac trained hard this weekend. He's got bigger bag of tricks than ever and we think he's got podium potential for Clawworx
Cam McCaul spinning and spinning.
When shit goes wrong at Joyride, it goes wrong. McCaul falling out of the sky.
Instant video review: What'd I do wrong? McCaul getting the lowdown on where things went sour.

Land sideways and shit goes sideways fast on the Joyride course. Granieri heading back to the top for a fresh rear wheel.
Yannick Granieri getting inverted in practice before the Joyride.
Sam Reynold's parts the multi-colored sea. You don't need course tape... just ride the part without people.
Reynolds bossed his signature sidewinder in both his runs, looking creative and smooth, until going down in a punishing spill after tail-whipping the Joyride cabin on run two. From Sam's Instagram, ''knocked myself out for a second then woke up and finished the run like a champ.'' We're not sure doctors would recommend this...
We'll admit it, we didn't expect Thomas Genon to win in 2012. This year, the weight of expectation hung on his shoulders as it does for all past champions.
Paul Basagoitia remains the only man to repeat as back-to-back slopestyle champion after Genon's day came to a close. He'll be back hungrier than ever.
Kurt Sorge spins right round, right round, like a record...
Sorge soars superbly over one seriously spellbound crowd
Unidentified flying object
Kurt Sorge is known as a big mountain badass (winning Rampage and riding in Where the Trail Ends help those credentials) but showed serious dirt jump prowess this weekend. Tailwhip on the hip.
Locked and loaded ready to make bangers.
Smile... Snipers ready and waiting in the wings.
Messere in a rare moment of contact with the ground.
Cork whip? Messere gettin' rowdy in run number one off the third hit.
They keep saying ''but when Messere lands a run...'' The kid is the steeziest in the game.
One small step for Messere, one giant leap for the rest of mankind.
Anthony looked to have a podium worthy run on his hands until a slight miscalculation took him out on the final stepdown.

Pilgrim finally slayed the Joyride dragon that's haunted him over the past few contests. Until now. "I've been here five times and never had a good run here. Until this year. And damn if it doesn't feel good!"
Pilgrim silencing the critics with perfect form on a finally-landed Crankworx Whistler run.
Last practice run of the day: Soderstrom dropping in with a three from the gate.
Sodertrom truckin' it perfectly on run one.
The three dudes on this chair won the lottery for the best seat in the house: Soderstrom pulling down a flawless triple whip for the lucky trio.
Soderstrom put it all on the line with his final run, it was near flawless from start to end culminating in this 360 double-whip attempt
The beginning of the end: Soderstrom over-rotated and slipped a pedal, resulting in what video replay clearly shows to be a broken tib/fib. Heal up soon, Martin!
Go time, game face. Brandon Semenuk about to drop bombs.
Brandon imitating noises overhead.
Opening salvo from Brandon Semenuk: oppo truck driver off the opening drop.
Brandon: regular double tailwhip after greasing an opposite one on the first jump. Machine.
Flip to win. Semenuk joins the elusive ''Two Club.''
Semenuk, mid nailing everything but failing at the final hurdle of run one.
It was deja vu for Semenuk's fans, friends, and family as he crashed on the final stepdown. One run left: would it be heartbreak or victory?
It all came down to this.
Semenuk: clutch when it counts.
Soaking it all up: Semenuk, drenched in champagne and taking it all in.
Two times now Semenuk's taking the "W" in the Joyride.

Winning can be claustrophobic
One man down. Martin's last run was phenomenal, he was missed on the podium.
You could see how bad Sodestrom wanted it he tricked everything! But congrats to semanuk, sick oppo double whip to normal double whip! And pilgrim could have easily bettered his score if he hadn't crashed.
He literally tricked every feature possible which is just nuts, not to mention any of his other killer tricks. He was the first one I picked in my little fantasy pool.
SSOO pumped to see Semenuk taking first...he has really wanted this for some time....put Soderstrom had an amazing run. They defiantly killed it. I wonder what the scoring was...but im sure it was super close between the two!
Deja vĂĽ for soderstrom, that last feature must be cursed for him, didn't he crash on a 360 double whip attempt last year as well? Damn I wish he landed it, but you could tell semenuk was on his way to the winning run after seeing him after his first run crash. Massive props to all the riders this year!
He could have performed a not so complicated trick on his last jump and avoided the crash. Who knows? He could have still won in the end. Sometimes he who wants more loses all. Don't get me wrong, Soderstrom was awesome and I wish he recovers fast.
I was thinking the same thing, his run was so technical and perfect that maybe he could have won it without a banger on the last hit. But he was clearly giving it everything he had and pulling out the hardest run he could. So impressive and such a bummer for him. It was a great competition this year!
That is all hind site. When you are in the moment, in the run, you are not thinking what Ive done the last few jumps should be good enough, I'll chill on the last drop. Im sure the only moment he had to think was at the top before the run started. You're only focused on the trick you are about to do next, when you're halfway to the next jump.
Ok, see your point.
Now I know why there's so many photos of Gully, T-Mac, McGazza, Cam McCaul, BearClaw, Genon, Reynolds, Messere, Sorge, Granieri- they all placed on the 2-4 spots, so higher the Bizzy!
Silly me!
Firstly check the kid paying no attention to the riding right in the middle of the frame of the sequence of Messere, kind of weird. Then look at the sequence of Pilgrim, not one but two kids now and have these kids got eyes in the back of their heads (see last frame of Pilgrim sequence!) Either that or they had a master plan to photobomb images that would be seen by thousands!
And pilgrim could have easily bettered his score if he hadn't crashed.
Totally worth staying up til 4:00am for!
No single picture?
And Sam Pilgrim....new cable ride trick...??? ;-)
Epic pics....best Crankworx so far!!!!
