Chris Akrigg: Step by Step

by Scott Secco
So this video is a little update on my progress. Its been a tough time since my accident but I feel I'm finally starting to get somewhere. I know it's not the best riding I've ever done but it's where I'm at at the moment, like I say in the vid I'm not 100 percent but I will get there and I can't wait to be back to full strength.

Thanks for all the support people, I will be back....

Good to see Chris back on a bike, it's a shocking accident that could have been so much worse....

He gets a full recovery, build his bike and go out to shred some trials! what a boss

he's the definition of dedicated. True Inspiration.

Keep it up Chris! Soon you'll be the one leading the dog around the trails

Sweet insight. Love the intro music too, reminds me of something from when I was young, juts can't remember what...........

What a champ. All the best for the recovery!

@ Jizsplatt. Your thinking of Hartbeat the kids art show on BBC with Tony Hart.
  • 2 0
Cheers man, I have been racking my brain cell for the last couple of hours trying to remember.

You don't often see the biker chasing the dog! haha Welcome back Chris! It's always good to see riders make a full recovery.
  • 12 1
The dog kept looking back as if to say 'catch up' haha. But so glad he's back after what could of been the end of riding. Can't wait for the usual amazing edits of his to come back
  • 4 2
what kind of dog is that?
  • 10 1
Boarder Collie. Basically a black and white wolf.
  • 3 1
A clever one, I guess - he knew the trail well enough to run before Chris Big Grin I'm glad of his comeback too and waiting to see more sick videos with him!
  • 10 1
 That dog is awesome!!
  • 1 0
We need to invent a bike based on how dog runs cuz that dog just won the race. Razz

So great to see you back Chris! You're far ahead of the curve in your recovery.

"like I say in the vid I'm not 100 percent but I will get there and I can't wait to be back to full strength."

Even at 50 percent he's still better than most! Such a skillful rider - great to see him on the way back.

 my favorite

rad edit, makes me proud to be on a 'goose! It's awesome that companies will stick with athletes during major injuries like this, even when you're supporting such an awesome athlete as Chris. Really inspiring - good luck man!

great to see mongoose still being the main sponsor. Chris has definitely changed my perception of the brand.
  • 7 1
 woah, truely inspirational i say

Great to see you back Chris. Your edits are still one of my favorite ones to watch. I liken your style of work to a talented self-produced, singer, songwriter musician that plays really awesome music that keeps changing the game. Cheers.

 I like this analogy.

good to see you back on the bike mate, brutal fall, i have no idea how you kept so calm!
  • 2 1
Good to see his recovery, and even better to see trails being used in their natural state in the winter! If we tried that here in the midwestern in the US, we would be arrested by the trail guard/IMBA fanatics. I used to enjoy the technical challenge of a well used trial.
  • 2 1
Are they really that sanitised over there?
  • 2 1
Very much so. When you are landlocked and have millions of people sharing the same trail system things are different.

Inspired me to make my first comment on Pinkbike. I'm sitting around with a broken fibula from a failed creek crossing. Keep up the hard work Chris. Your vid lifted my spirits, I'll be back as well!

Ya good to see chris on the bike. I have same injury and hardware that chris have after seeing his xray. Keep chuggin away next season we back in action. This is one of the worst injuries a rider could ever have.

i broke my femur 3 years ago now. man not that long ago when i think about it. but anyways broke it in a car crash. felt tingly when i felt snap when it was time to get out it hurt so fucking bad. i wanted to know what a broken bone felt like but not that one. i trip on a curb and i want to cry. this was my my junior year of high school. i was bummed out i couldn't skateboard or snowboard any more. but i always liked riding my bmx bike, didn't hurt. then senior year me and my busy got in to cyclocross and mountain biking. made my leg so much stronger. but when some time running up stairs in cyclocross my leg kinda gives out a lil. but any way femur breaks suck. you don't walk the same after words
