meh. I'm not impressed. Actually disappointed this video didn't show his signature style. He's a badass rider with style for miles. This could have been just anybody riding that trail.
Ahh so you've identified the marketing goal here! They wanna market the shoe to any rider. The fact that it's the claw says the shoes can handle top level riding while the simple train and easy style says it's good for the everyday rider and not jus t a pros tool.
After reading most of these replies on his riding,it seems you guys forgot he's recently coming off a couple major injuries. Im quite sure his slow speed is still faster than our fast speed. And I'm not even going to begin to talk about his real skill level! It's just a shoe marketing shoot.
This is one of the first videos in a while where I watched it and thought "I could actually do this". I really like the approach 5 10 has taken on this. Instead of furthering the gap between me and my favorite pros by making an insane video with unreal speed and tricks, they linked the consumer with their product.
Can't wait to get these shoes and dial up my riding to an 11; I've been waiting so long to find the answer that would unlock my powers of awesomeness and ride like the claw.
Thanks "ami". And I agree with shrokie... Though my above comment wasn't necessarily sarcasm as it was more of an exaggeration of excitement (ok, with a hint of sarcasm). I do think they will be great shoes... But won't unlock my powers of awesomeness, unlike that shirt I got last year.
At the end of the day its videos like this one which make sponsors throw themselves over riders such as the claw and even cedric.. they make blatant promos but its what they have to do to continue to ride mountain bikes as a job! Sponsors need to see return on investment and at the end of the day we now all know that 5 - 10's have grip.....
damn 5 10 i didnt realize you were looking for this level of riding.... hook me up with an edit! no offense to the Claw hes one of my favorites but who ever chose to use that footage for that edit has obviously not seen any of the vids on Pb...... considering more than half of us viewers wear and support 5 10's I think we are owed waaaaaaay more than that. step ur game up!!!!!!
Everyone always fusses about what shoes and air pressure and blah blah blah. I have found the most important aspect to wether I am riding at my peak ability is my choice of underwear. There is nothing worse than going into a drop with your chonies going against the laws of gravity!
I DEMAND 510 UNDER CRAKERS!
... this is supposed to be a commercial for 5.10? Eh, nothing in this video shows anything that my Adidas Samba's couldn't handle. I expected more ... com'mon it's The Claw ... how 'bout a bit more excitement ... something that makes me go ... "Holy Sh!t!" For the price of a pair of 5.10's ... there's gotta be something that makes me think that I've gotta have 'em ... that's advertising 101. Sure they're great shoes, but this video doesn't quite get that point across.
I was quite surprised how much grip my 5-10's had, even when pushing my bike up a muddy hill , yet the sole on the claw's shoes are either totally worn down or made differently than in the past, going by this advertisement and the slippery sole of the 5-10's he is wearing I personally would look for another brand
I think that the idea of the video is pretty similliar to the Kona's promo of the new Operator with Aggy (except for the 3 drop at the end) but I gotta say that Kona and Sherpas Cinema made something unique and 5.10/Adidas deffo not...
Does Pink bike screen these videos for actual viewing pleasure? Or is Pink Bike just obliging the commercial interests of it's advertisers? Maybe it would better fit into the movies for Monday category. Also nothing against Darren, he payed his dues, but there are a few super talented and creative younger riders who could use some commercial support and limelight. I know the "old Guys" have to make money too. but, hey let to up and coming talent get to the money trail. (I know it's a lame pun)
(The Claw not withstanding, because he rules) Shameless, obvious, and mundane product shots, with the most uninspired tagline ever.. "Be Brave"? is their target 9yr old boys? Adidas needs to acquire an ad agency that understands shoes as athletics and not lifestyle, before we see hipsters wearing them on their fur-pedaled fixies!!
Sorry but most all traditional shoes encourage hammer toe. I lean toward the minimalist side and ride very well
with my Altra Zero Drops. I don't fall for all that support hype. Keen takes that same approach with a wide toe
box as well. Once you ditch the hammer toe cowboy shoes you'll never go back.
Yeah I think he was even on some 510 hightops during rampage. I have looked up to claw for a long time and have been wearing 510s nearly as long but this vid was rather dissapointing
Some stairlifts makers produced better adverts than this... Sorry but it was slow and a bit boring. I was still waiting for something when the credits hit my eyes. Nah- boring....
You can get them on Wiggle, Chain has been waiting for sometime to get em. Picked up a pair 2 weeks ago for less than what I would have paid in the US.
Whats with the suspenseful music? Feels like I was watching a trailer for another Michael Bay's action flick. Would rather watch Claw do his thing flipping in the air.
it's on Little Mountain just outside Parksville on Vancouver Island, at least thats where the opening and closing shots are on the cliffs, very close to Darren's house.
This is simply "not bad" edit, but nothing more.
Cheers
