Catasauqua: Catasauqua is a borough in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, settled in 1805 and chartered as a borough in 1853…. It is also home to the legendary Catty Trials, a must visit spot for any dirt ramp enthusiast. I think this was the first trip we talked about this year and strangely it's our last project for the year. Huge thanks to Andy Martinez, Robbo, Matt Roe, Rich Forne and all the locals for an amazing week in a small borough named Catasauqua.

The Controller - Salomon Freeski TV S8 E05: As an avalanche controller, Kevin Fogolin gets to work and ski in some of the most spectacular mountains on earth. We follow him on his job as he brings down some of the most impressive avalanches ever caught on film.

David Carrier Porcheron (DCP) - Blindside: As the stalwart pioneer of snowboarding’s backcountry freestyle movement, DCP has spent a lifetime adapting to the capricious rhythm of Mother Nature. When his personal and professional relationships are met with the same cyclical zeal, DCP forges into his own hinterland and discovers that the depth of the Whistler community is as vast as the surrounding ridge lines.

 Dakota Roche is just sick.

Sick mooves (i'm impressed by the hight he jumps like nothing)
Sick to do this without a helmet or other protectives

Agreed. I'm not much for BMX, but wow... just wow. The first 10 seconds he jumps that railing to the loading dock. I watched that segment 3 times to see if it was really that high. Then to see all the other stuff he does, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Truly amazing jumping ability and more grinds than the full timer Starbucks employee.

So much respect for Dakota Roche's BMX skills. Huge drops to flat, nollies like it's nothing, spins both ways not like some ballerinas/supermodels. Wow, just wow. 2 wheels, no-suspension, just skill. WoW!

What an edit. Dakota Roche is phenomenal. Big ups to the film maker for being cultured enough to use Budgie on the sound track. The greatest Welsh band ever!

"The Controller" excerpt is unreal. The new documentary "Snowman" which it is from looks absolutely phenomenal for all you skiers/boarders out there. Looked online and can't seem to see where this is showing? Anyone have any insight on this?

That Dakota Roche clip is definitely awesome, but I love that Grant Taylor footage too. He's pretty fucking sick. Loved the dog in the video too, and the fact that Grant could pick up a ball and throw it for the dog whilst skating a bowl. Very nice!

For next week's list guys: vimeo.com/112384571 . Real Skifi are the best thing happening in skiing right now, and I say that as a skier who doesn't even do any jib/freestyle anymore. A must-watch, even for non-skiers. BMXers will love it.

In every edit with the workstand, I see bikes being clamped by the moving part of the seatpost, although you can read in every manual, that you shouldn't do it. Why?
  • 10 2
 cos
  • 4 1
Clamping the frame isn't a good idea. Unnecessary forces exerted on the frame, wires may get damaged. Plus, many bikes are not built to withstand rotational forces or compression forces of the clamp. With that being said, I have never personally seen a frame damaged from clamping on frame, but Id rather replace a damage seat post than a frame.

If you crush your bike with a workstand clamp you're too ham fisted to be doing bike maintenance, take it to a shop instead!
  • 1 0
I think its cos your adding load to the dropper post system from the wrong direction, this will put pressure onto the internals and can damage fragile bearings, bushings and hydraulic circuits...
I think Wink

Men don't read manuals. Unless the mechanic in question is of the fairer sex, your question is invalid.

now imagine the skiing with a parachute without skis but with bikes Big Grin
  • 1 0
Yeah, so somebody has to be the first to do rampage or a bigger, steeper mountain with a parachute.. but who? That would end horribly and contests would have even more wind delays/cancellations, heh heh.
