Not right watching Peaty climb instead of descend. I like Hosoi, but am not inspired when people need religion in order to get 'saved'. And I guess skiing is like DH in that the gopro vid's just don't do the terrain justice. BMX vids were cool though.
  • 3 3
and definitely not inspired after his history lecture on "how we know all these things, like david and goliath". rad time to skate tho.
  • 11 3
But isn't ok though that he uses religion to inspire him? Or no? I don't think he called anyone in particular out by name to do what he does. So why even let that influence your opinion? Is it good for him? Yes. Let it go then is what I am thinking. Unless it is negatively impacting you. In that case, be uninspired.
  • 6 3
true if it works for him then that's great. the only issue i've had with organized religion is that it hinders societal growth and it inherently divides and segregates people - whether or not the believer is aware of it. I want to know if Christian Hosoi would be as die-hard Christian had he been raised in Pakistan or India; our religious beliefs for the most part are dictated by our parents' beliefs and the traditions of the cultures we grow up in

"Religion - providing thousands of years of hope in a world torn apart by religion"
  • 4 4
Humans have been hindering societal growth and segregating people. Not religion.
  • 6 2
chicken vs egg argument, except that humans came first and created religion second -all in an attempt to control their fellow man by incentivizing them with a made up notion of heaven and hell. Opiate of the masses. People are free to believe what they want. 1.09 billion people believe that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... makes perfect sense. obviously i could be wrong, but I could be just as wrong by saying Unicorns or spiderman or the tooth fairy doesnt exist either
  • 4 1
Not what it says in my bible, angry. So we probably could go round and round and round with this argument. And your unicorns, spiderman and tooth fairy argument, I have heard that about a thousand times. Yet another reason to remain strong in my faith. If that troubles you, well, I guess you can just tune me out. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. That's not my job. Bottom line, if someone says something about God, they are weird, crazy, a fool or not well educated in science. Not sure that needs to be stated each time someone mentions God but hey, it's a free internet bro.

Angry. Can I ask you a question? Have you spent time around good, God loving Christians and read the bible at least a little bit? Or is it totally based on your ideas, thoughts and research. Because I have been on your side of the coin. Why I feel strongly about the side I flipped to.
  • 7 1
Hey guys.... Can we talk about bikes now?
  • 1 1
 Exactly KC!
  • 1 0
I know I won't be able to get through to you and neither will you to me. I'm just trying to help you see outside the box, because most of the world is so zealously and rigidly faithful that it really does cause friction. I've always imagined a world without religion being much more peaceful - no muslims blowing themselves up for 72 virgins, no westboro baptist church, no bombs at abortion clinics, no ridiculous genocidal leaders, nobody refusing to give their kids necessary medicines and vaccines because they think god is watching over them, no homosexual teens that feel the need to kill themselves because they live in a brainwashed society that refuses to accept them. That's why I don't choose to associate myself with it. If it gives you a sense of comfort, great - stay faithful, you are more than entitled to under the 1st amendment. But please make sure it's a faith that preaches love and actual inclusion, because for the most part it cultivates the opposite.

yes ridesmoothbro. I went to an all boys catholic school and studied old and new testament exclusively. Also served in the Army for a few years and was at West Point for a little stint. But I remembered hearing someone say after a plane crash that god saved the few survivors of the crash for a reason, that they had a purpose - and i started thinking "doesn't that mean he crashed that plane for a purpose? all those other people suffered a painful death and that was part of god's plan too? So then is it God's plan to starve all those kids in Africa just so the western countries can have more food? There's a purpose for slavery and genocide and they're all praying just as hard as us Americans but aren't getting a sliver of the blessings we 'receive' " It just seemed cruel to me to give a purpose to other people's suffering and my faith started to deteriorate. it doesnt make sense to me to believe in a god that dabbles in people's lives.
  • 3 1
Gotcha. But my God doesn't dabble in people's lives. He controls everything. What if those who have, in the countries who are starving, gave like is commanded by my God? I, personally, am not swayed by what others say. Only the bible brother. I was an atheist. God showed me the path I am on now. You knew or believed in God and now maybe not so much. I think my biggest gripe in this whole thing is that people don't have to be nuttty to believe. And like I don't classify you or other non believers are crazy or weird, maybe some folks shouldn't classify all believers as nutty or weird. That's all I'm saying. People gripe so much about letting folks have their freedom, like being gay, or believing in what they want but if I mention God, which goes along with the whole live and let live thing, everyone goes bananas. I am 40 yrs old, an ICU nurse and a parent. That box isn't as confining as you may think. One more thing:
Thank you brother for serving to allow me to have the freedom to speak and believe what I want. If it wasn't for guys like you, I would be funneled into what someone else wants or thinks is good for me.

it's all perspective I guess. Thanks for the discussion. PS - don't thank me, thank the Constitution. I never did shit for your freedoms haha. Cheers man

The Little Person Inside TS Piggins is a giant. Where there's a will, there's a way. Lets all remember that. He certainly did.

 Yeah bikes are fun!!!!
  • 11 0
that stop-motion for the Banshee was cool, but I noticed a lot of grease missing from virtually all internals. I sure hope they disassembled that thing and rebuilt it properly. sweet video.
  • 11 2
"Roommates" was fine... but you just can't use "Ante Up" in new videos; that's sacrilegious. It only belongs in one edit - you know, the one with a highlighter bike, a park that starts with "W", and a certain Frenchman.

For the first time ever I watched every video, and strangely my favorites were a Cyclocross Video, a video about a Ski Photographer and a Paralysed Motorcyclist . . . . . thanks for diverting me with something different Pink Bike. :-)
  • 7 4
I rarely watch the mtb vids on MFYM , the ski , MX and BMX videos are usually much more interesting

Great riding in the BMX vid. However, I find it funny that late 1990's early 2000's even 6 foot plus tall riders made fun of ANY handle bar taller than 6" and wider than 26" or so. They all looked super oversized for their bikes. Now 9" or 10" rise bars are the norm and super wide. Those same bars BMX riders made fun of or called "Gary Ellis" bars ( a tall BMX pro), are the new hipster norm. Even for smaller riders. Fashion is funny

Watching the Hosoi doco took me back to the days I skated and made me realise how stupid I dressed in the 80s and 90.....those rainbow elastic, yellow plastic knee pads where the bomb but!

Room mates makes me want to go ride stairs like that on my lunch. Aaaaaand work getting a call from A&E about 20 minutes later with some sort of broken leg, head, concussion wont be in work for a week or two shit.

Stoked to have my MX video of Dylan Wills featured!

Sam Smoothy. Wow what a committed run. Ice and rocks up top too. Be used to that being a kiwi though. Lived up to his name that's for sure.
  • 1 0
Honestly the PoV video doesnt do it justice. Check this link for a better view:

Thanks dirtypants you are so right. That is just incredible. His lines are just so dialed and he's using ALL the snow. He's so pinned and close to everything too. Was thinking the same as the commentators -"where is he going?". And that save in the trees? MIssed that at normal speed. I liked the way the commentators said he just about went over the bars too. Is that mtb influencing freeskiing?
  • 1 0
Would it be wrong to say I'd like to see a video of Dylan Wills goon riding? Guy rips fast and loose, and it would be fun to see that with some awkward goofiness thrown in. He could pull that off like few others.

Rule number 1 for 2015 bmx videos: the more skilled rider is, the more retarded rap shit his edit includes.
  • 3 0
Ruben is the man. That spot is massive.

I thought that #shiftlesswhipmore vid would be a few minutes long, and was really disappointed, when i realized, that the "intro" was actually the whole vid Razz

If you guys have never seen dendrite studios out of the shadows, you're missing out. it is the best movie ever made.

Love to see some XC videos!

 Nothing on Post Office? Really!?
  • 3 2
 no helmet, no watch.
  • 3 0
then you're missing out on Garrett Reynolds and Ty Morrow and all these amazing street riders of today. That same logic would be like not listening to Kurt Cobain or Jimi Hendrix exclusively because I don't want to advocate heroin use. You don't have to agree with their life choices to appreciate their talent.
  • 1 0
you make a fair point, but, the riders don't wear helmets because they think it's cool, people don't take heroin because they think it's cool, they take it because they need to fill a huge void in their life. Hendrix was an incredible talent, you lost me at Cobain....
street riding doesn't excite me, although I do appreciate the skill involved (like golf) so, no, i don't believe i am missing out.
  • 1 0
fair enough. if it doesnt excite you then that's an entirely different and valid reason to not watch

I am 3 years younger than Hosoi, and I like Tacos, Skyinhg, DH & AM.
