Hectometer - World Record: This is the visual poem of William Trubridge's world record freedive to 100 meters (one hectometer, basically one football field length and back) in order to bring light to the plight of the world's smallest cetacean, the Hector's Dolphin of New Zealand. With one breath of air and diving without weights, fins or any propulsive assistance, William descended to 101 meters in the waters of Dean's Blue Hole, Bahamas, the deepest blue hole in the world. This short documentary of the record attempts to transmit what it is like to freedive deep beneath the surface, and how we can return to explore our potential as an aquatic mammal in the search to help our endangered cousins of the seas.

Sending it.

What a video... what a tough girl and determined dad.
  • 16 0
Its funny how we all talk about bike feeling but no one knows it better than that girl. So inspirational and she rides better than 99% of people.

Shes a legend.

Rob Warner can make as much fun of Fairclough as he wants, but damn he's a stylish racer..
  • 18 0
It wouldn't bother me if Rob was calling me a Freehiller...
  • 5 0
 Or even "Freeracer" Wink
  • 1 0
SO insane that he manuals into the opening step-down at the start of the course... The gap itself isn't anything big (only about 2 bike lengths) but it's like dropping down an elevator shaft. Legend.

His living it, his a top 50 downhill racer while been one of the top free riders, he holds a full factory contract yet he has said he doesn't hard as hard as he should. He chills out and is still one of the worlds best and gets paid.

That train won't run forever though. I keep wondering how long he will keep a factory ride. Maybe he'll manage to keep it going based on his freeride side, but I don't think he'll be on the WC tracks for too long if he doesn't put in some effort. Why should Scott pay for him to to race WC's if he admits he isn't really trying that hard?
  • 1 0
It's a good point but remember they are about selling bikes. Brendog is a huge sales point. His massively popular still kills it in the national scene and does well at wcs. His training hard now I think sounds like his getting more serious. But look at wyn masters his not up there but his a huge character and a massive marketing rider. They would keep him longer than most because Brendan has that image built around him.

@clarky- because he's still in the top 30. He gets good results and is a fan favorite. Some of you guys are acting like he is a boring, struggling racer who is barely able to qualify. The facts are he is a super solid racer on the WC (staying in the top 30 is an insane achievement in case you guys didn't know that), he has insane style which makes him a fan favorite, and he also competes/films in freeride events making him probably one of the more well rounded WC athletes. Scott is most likely fairly happy with him.

It's like we all know Peaty might never win something anymore, CG had barely been on a podium for quite some time before he left, but they are awesome guys, the best advertisment you can get !
  • 1 0
Completely agree with all of the above. Give the guy a break! Top 20 or top 30 in the world is nothing to smirk at. Add on top of that the style Brendog rides with the video parts he puts out and you can see the appeal to everyone including sponsors. He lost some speed after his knee injury but at least he's still giving everything a good crack unlike some others *cough* Affy *cough*

 @slidways: he is = he's

On a separate note, Brendan's nowhere near done

I was getting vertigo just watching that... I think Pink Floyd put it best..."One slip and down the hole we fall"
  • 1 0
Yup that INTENSE trail would be a great deathmatch track for a worldcup downhill..
Wondering do they ride clippless in that trail?
  • 1 0
Anyone know what or where that trail is?
Not that I'm planning on riding it any time soon....
  • 3 0
The airless tire concept is awesome! Hope some day ride that tires on my bike!

Are you watching at work as well:-)

 i like it!

Air less tyres been tried but there is problems?
But could be made to work, but can it be made to work well enough?
Or would it be better looking at how better ways of keeping air in at the right pressure?
This idea is something like this idea? vimeo.com/80191950

What got me was the carbon Nanotubes… I don't think that that technology is cheap enough yet to make an affordable tire…

I could see this being cool if it developed into a sort of inner tube type thing- if there was a way to get a standard tire over it. If you don't need to worry about punctures and stuff, you'd be able to run a much lighter tire. More of an interchangeable tread.
  • 1 0
Me too, those nanotube aren't even close to being ready for production and they are expensive as f*ck... Probably just another one of those scam "thingie" like that thorium car... anyways it sounds like it
  • 1 0
I really like looking at new ideas, but getting more and more difficult to do something different and make it work better that stuff currently available
I am sure that non air filled tyres can work, but getting a way from the dead feel, less supple & less grip of them will take some work but whither or not nanotubes can make it better ?
Would like some change in the problems with current tyres though

Why is there swimming on movies for your Monday?
  • 3 0
Because it is an amazing clip. People do some cool stuff and it doesn't always involve bikes. What he did in that clip is way more intense than most of the video footage on PB.

If freediving 100m deep is "swimming", then rampage is riding down a hill.
