Let there be mud! Over the weekend Marcelo Gutierrez found himself sliding down the rocky, tree-lined single track of the Pro GRT at Beech Mountain Resort in North Carolina. It was a tough course made even tougher by the fact that it was really dark in the wooded section. Despite the difficulties Marcelo reports that the track was 'really fun with an awesome, noisy crowd that didn't stop roaring.'  Holy crap. He barely used any of the ninja lines and still stomped it into third! He was using pure pedal power. Nice.

I was thinking the same thing. Yet half way down the rock garden right before the tombstone I literally yelled "HE USED MY LINE!!" Ive never seen anyone else hit it the same way.

 where are the sneaky lines?

Surprised he didn't use the right exit line with the rock jump off the tree at the end of the rock garden. It lets you launch clean of the muck and actually carry speed out. Left line was not the main line for pros there any year ever. It's awesome to see a World Cupper helmet cam and know the guy just bullrushed the whole thing rather than time it and link things together. He had no flow it looked like and yet powered through the whole thing like a 450cc.

Chuck Norris must be afraid of Marcelo

His real name could be Marcelo, Chuck is just his TV name. Like Carlos Irwin Estevez (Charlie Sheen)

Awesome to see my home mountain on the internets. Sad to see my home mountain get thoroughly destroyed by the mud.

haha, the beech course was one of the most fun tracks I have raced on yet this season. Plenty steep it is, plenty fast it is, super fun it was.
  • 2 2
Describing the steepness as "plenty" is a bit of a stretch. No one will doubt the fun, slippery, or technical factors though.

Its steepness comes in spurts. Fun little spurts.
