James Doerfling - Up in smoke

Sep 30, 2010 at 10:03
by Mitch Cheek

I set out on assignment to film James Doerfling for Lizard Skins to promote their newly developed website. James resides in Williams Lake, and this year Williams Lake was the hot spot for fires! One area alone was 52000 hectares, and there was up to 6 areas. There was so many fires they had to classify them to areas. The fires were so big it was smokey in Edmonton and the air quality was affected all the way to Manitoba. Manitoba is 3500 kilometers away! With our window short due to Interbike and Red Bull Rampage, we had a short meeting. At the end of the discussion James wanted to ride and I wanted to shoot. Bad air quality or not, it is all about doing what you love!

Check out "Up in Smoke!",

I love this video because these are the trails that helped shape James' riding style! So if anyone wants to have as much fun as James and I have, you better get up to Williams Lake and stop by Red Shreds Bike and Board Shed. They will point you to one of the 140 trails in town! Hope to see you there.

Can anyone shed some light on the trails in this vid? are they located in Williams Lake? and would it be worth it to make a trip there to ride some of the local trails? thanx.

Oh yes, they are right in Williams Lake, Fox Mountain trail network to be exact. Aflo and Agent Gully.... my favourite trails in town. Certainly worth a trip. The riding in W.L. is great, no matter what you're looking for. Stop at Red Shred's to hook up with us locals or to get more info on the trails.

Yep a little over estimated that one, if you drove from Williams Lake to Winnipeg its ~2200kms. AS the crow flies, or smoke drifts, much shorter.
