18 Bikes That Could Be Updated in 2024
Stumpy EVO, Sentinel, Sight... lots of goldilocks bikes that just work in this list. But yeah, if you squint at the numbers they are (almost) four years old!

Starling Cycles Adds UDH & Shows Off a Downcountry Build of the Murmur
Ridden a murmur for the last four years--yes it has some flex designed in, but it never feels flexy to me at 160 lbs unless maybe slapping bike park berms. I've seen plenty of truly flexy bikes that you can deflect the BB a bunch, this isn't it. It rides fairly normal, but also seems to have just a bit more to give on off-camber, wet, and weird sections. Works for me

Field Test Review: 2024 Chromag Lowdown - The Speed Couch
@KickFlipABike: Agree that 490 is very long for a M/L, but a longer reach means less weight on the front all else equal, because the front center grows compared to the rear center. Yes a longer reach naturally might lead you to put more weight through your hands (and lets you move around more), but I would prefer to be on a shorter, more balanced bike where I dont have to put my weight through my bars to turn.

Tested: Do Short Cranks Work For Tall Riders?
If you are talking about a standing position, probably not, as most movements would be from level (ish) pedals.

Inserts-- 2x Cushcore Pro, 1x Tannus tubeless

$75 USD
Save on some lightly-ridden inserts. Cush have about 10-15 rides on both of them and are in great shape. $75 obo for the pair or $40 each Tannus insert has more use, but still plenty of life--$15. Local pickup in Waterbury (or downtown Burlington most workdays).

Video: Testing the Difference Between Steel & Aluminum Frames
The alloy certainly could be lighter, but for the strength and durability requirements of downhill and enduro frames, a steel frame is probably close enough in weight to the aluminum, especially if its 853 steel. For an xc frame no doubt the aluminum will be much lighter, but the advantage decreases as the frame bulks up.
