Sunshine Coaster XCM/DH Dates

by Sunshine Coaster XCM
There is only two weeks until our big weekend of May 2nd/3rd and we are excited to be hosting this awesome event! The course is in prime shape with literally 100's of volunteer hours of sweat tweaking the race course! There is even a work party on April 25th grooming Mach Chicken for some super speed DH runs. The Sunshine Coaster race weekend is a guaranteed kickstart to your race season with many top level riders racing in both disciplines. There is even a 21km short course to enjoy if the XCM is a little too much. We have top level prizes from Boreal Biking, and a $1000 race purse to be shared! With over 25 years of race organizing experience (remember when the Test of Metal was held in Roberts Creek?), we are well supported in the community, well sponsored, and well run.

A reminder to all interested participants, that the deadline for early bird pricing is midnight, April 24th. Afterwards, the pricing goes up by $20 to $95 for either race event. So, register by the 24th to get the early bird pricing and we'll see you on the May 2nd/3rd!

And Whistler goes and opens on the same day, I imagine attendance could be a little sparse. Pour form, Whistler. I'll be in Whistler, pour form chef.

Make a weekend out of it, enjoy some of Sechelt or Powell River's nice restaurants, hit some sweet B and B's that are off-season priced this time of year, and take in the laid back vibe of the Sunshine Coast. This place has some of the best grass roots racing and riding action in BC, and they carve a tonne of great trails while relying on a rather small population. What's not to like?

I'm so surprised that the BC Enduro stop for the Sunshine Coast is on the same weekend as the Sunshine Coaster.

Early bird registration makes a big difference to race organizers who have to set up aid stations, after-race food, and other considerations. Having advance numbers helps with planning. They're just trying to make the event work smoothly. You can whine and moan about saving $20 by committing in advance, or quit yer bitching and get out there, meet some people, and have some fun.

Well there are guys who can't commit yet, myself being one of them .I got injured Sunday in the last race. I'm not sure if I will be ready. The costs are quite considerable including 4 ferry rides etc ..every penny counts. I'm sure I'm not the only guy comig from the island who is faceing similiar difficulties.

Pretty steep increase if you don't register by the 24th ?

Don't bother with it. Absolute rip off. Even if you win your category they 're so stingy that you don't even get a medal or a prize.

Ha yeah, this happened to me and my wife, I got a dish cloth as a prize - no joke... My wife got a bag of coffee for coming first in the womens. Was an amazing course though, one of the best I've ridden.
