Suggestion: do a poll on the budget parts spec for future episodes ( as I’m sure everything has been edited already, maybe do some second episodes for things like tires) and let the masses let you know what they want.

When you do brakes, do larger rotors and metallic pads vs more pots and stock pads. Then compare with $$
I’m glad you are doing this series, mtb is stupid pricey for what we get so any attempt to make it cheaper is appreciated!!

Great vid, but it feels incomplete: have baller bike all ballin, then have budget bike run through scenarios to find the right balance of cash vs crash. ( get 2 wheelsets, 3 sets of tires ( cheapest, good value but not DD maxxgrip, then the premium) and see what combo gets closest to the ballin component for the least money.

11sp Dura Ace 9100 crankset 172.5 52/36
$499 CADLook into the deep glossy blackness of these artsy bits and you may forget there is another purpose to them other than forcing you to make funny noises when you gaze deeper and contemplate why you don’t already have a set. Yes, they are that stunning.
However, I needed a bit less of them ( I bought a matching set but with 165mm legs) so these are now for sale.
I wrapped the cranks with 3m film before I mounted them to my bike and they are scuff free.
There is a supply chain shortage on cranks so my new set came with 52/36 and I liked the 50/34 so I’ve swapped the rings - these rings have never touched a chain.
I’ve left the 3m on in case the new owner wants to keep it. The lines in the pics you see are the edges of the film.

Carbon aero handlebar vision metron 4d mas

I have a set of carbon aero handlebars that came with my systemsix and are too narrow for my barnlike shape.
Vision metron 4d MAS flatbar ( search by this)
These measure 43cm ish outside to outside ( I need more like 46- 48cm)
These retail at $700 and are plenty stiff ( I've ridden carbon aero bars that felt like I had a flat tire, these feel like a round bar in a good way.
They are built to add tri bars
They show the directional carbon and grey, ( they look really cool
Would consider trade for similar wider (46cm) carbon aero bar
