Interview: Brian Cookson, UCI President
I can see the issue with world cup rounds expanding, but I don't see why these' tried and tested' venues are dropped year to year. I know that europe is already seen as too central for the world cup circuit and I agree a more international spread is needed, but tracks like Val di Sole/Schladming etc should be staples for very good reasons. France has given us two exceptional world cup tracks in the past two years that riders and spectators love, but it doesn't seem like they will be routinely included. I know Leogang invest a lot to have a round and are a good venue for spectating/ amenities etc but it's no secret the riders don't rate it at all. I am realistic and see the constraints of a limited funding series in a sport in its infancy, but that is all the more reason to get the basics right.

FEST series continues to make me question this style of 'mountain biking' event. The FMB will have an interesting adolescence I feel as it figures out what it wants to become. I hope it caters for all... but wouldn't mind it drifting more towards what the fest guys are championing rather than effectively a bmx DJ event on 26 inch bikes. Before people get defensive I'd like to say Sam Pilgrim and Soderstrom are two of my favourite riders whose roots are obviously in skate park/DJ, but it's not the mountain biking that most of us do. Fest just appeals to me more.

Muc-Off Launch Athlete Protection Range
Nothing that you apply topically gets past the outermost layer of your epidermis. To put that in perspective, the skin on most of your body has four layers of epidermis before reaching: the dermis (much thicker than all four layers of epidermis combined), Subcutaneous fat (thicker than all that I've mentioned already combined if you have a %body fat that allows you to function) Muscle Fascia (which is so impenetrable that it allows compartment syndrome to occur). So in a nutshell. Bollocks. Massage your legs with anything that stops your hands sticking to your skin to stimulate blood flow, stretch appropriately and there is your perfect warm up.

Confessions of Sam Pilgrim
No matter how hard we try to export ourselves, every experience, feeling and decision in our life is felt/made between our two ears. It's as fundamental as having a broken leg and needs time to get itself healed up. You win in your head before winning at sport is ever a possibility. So I'm glad you've healed up your injury Sam. Looking forward to seeing you back winning this year.
