Summer’s arrival in Marquette means nearly 16 sun-soaked hours of daylight on Lake Superior’s southern shoreline. For us, that means 960 minutes a day to explore the over 100 miles of carefully crafted mountain bike trails packed with bar-dragging berms, stomach dropping rock rolls, and more features found only in Marquette County’s glacier-cut landscape. Need proof? Here’s four unique trails in two minutes.

I am rather interested in these trails... I should probably look into this. Now all I need to do is calculate the distance from Toronto, and accommodations.

its well worth the drive, between marquette, houghton, copper harbor and duluth this area is one of the best areas in the world for anything from xc riding to full out dh.. that being said i am heading up tomorrow.

I'll be there Friday! There's some great camping in the area if you look for it. I'm lucky to have family in Marquette and Hancock, so there's always somewhere to stay

Among the most diverse and highest quality trail systems you'll find anywhere. Just back from a week of riding up there. Not long enough!

Camp on state land, camp at tourist park, rent a rustic cabin at Harlowe Lake from the state, rent somone's vacation cabin, stay in a hotel, accommodations are endless in that area. Wife and I just spent a week between there and copper harbor and we did the remote camping on state land, had a blast. Message me if you go and need some pointers, I lived in Marquette for 5 years.

I saw the picture of Little Presque and immediately thought that looked familiar, that island has some awesome cliff jumping spots on the north side. I can also vouch that Marquette has so amazing trails unlike anything else in the midwest.

I live in Michigan and am yet to find any jumps worth while to call big lol.Boyne mountain has some good trails as well, and isn't all the way up in bfe ,which might as well be considered Canada, not Michigan. Also Yankee springs will bring as much enjoyment you will ever need and its only half way in the middle of Michigan.

boyne highlands is shaping up nicely. the run "mortition" has got some great features. just wish they would run a different lift. 18minutes up for a 400-500ft decent. that being said, im pretty sure its the only lift sevice park in LP.

Cannonsburg has some stuff going up, but they don't run the lift. Marquette is only about 2.5 hours past the bridge, it's not that far of a drive. Especially considering the terrain/trails. Wife and I just spent a week up there with our XC bikes and had a blast. If you want "big" jumps Marquette has plenty.

Crystal Mountain runs their chairlift also. But Boyne Highlands has much better trails.

The Marquette MTB Enduro is a sweet, low key event that samples a good mix of trails, it's coming up Oct 3. Or if you're into sufferfest style pain cave experiences Sept 26 is the inaugural Marji Gesick 100 (10,000 ft of climbing over 100 miles).
