For the first time this season the entire team had the chance to share a full day of riding together. It took place late March in the south of France - Provence. The French riders Isabeau Courdurier, Alex Cure and Florian Nicolai were pleased to welcome their BC teammate Jesse Melamed and to show him their everyday training trail network just a few kms from the French Riviera, the original birthplace of enduro racing in France. The team enjoyed the atmosphere of the small town of Levens and the dry and technical trails.

Jesse also had time to discover some of the "secret" key French enduro nutritional secrets before taking the road to Finale Ligure for a very serious suspension tuning session with our partner Fox. They're now looking ahead to the fast approaching EWS opening round in Chile.

anyone ever run those stan's arch EX rims and have something to 'report' about them? I am glad to see an enduro team using those. i actually picked one up myself and immediately questioned my decision (over the flows) because of the rim width. im pretty sold on 'wider rim is better' but i also understand there are many variables that feed in to that statement.

Edit: Then i realized that it may be a mistake. The photo shows Flows front and rear.

You are correct they are listed in the build spec. Flexy rims and the material is a bit soft.

Anyone else having trouble watching the video? It will not load for me (nothing on Vimeo will actually), is there a pinkbike or youtube link available?

Florian Nicolai is going to be one of the main contenders this year, you heard it here first!

Anyone try those urge enduro helmets?
  • 2 0
Yup, I have one. Never crashed properly wearing it so have not tested in that way. As for riding, its pretty light and the reduced jaw/face protection allows you to breath just as well as an open faced helmet, but you can't get away from the effects of otherwise being fully encased in a snug fitting crash helmet. Pedaling small climbs or traverses can get sweaty pretty quickly, plus your ears are covered so you hear your own heavy breathing! But on long big mountain descents you are comfortable, can breathe easily, and feel that bit more safe than you would if you were wearing an open faced helmet.

I hate though's shimano shoes. I have a pair and don't get me wrong they are a tough shoe. I use them with mallet 2 peddles and they tilt my foot out it really hurts my my feet and knees. It makes my peddling really inefficient and doing any kind of long rides really painful and its hurting my enduro racing times. Help me!!

 get new shoes...

Save your knees and ankles. You want to be riding a long time, so a simple fix like a shim is a no brainer.

If it's only these shoes that cause this issue, get something else.
If all shoes do this to you, then you very likely need shims. It's a common problem that many of us have, we pronate or supinate. Find a fitter experienced at this (usually they use software and cameras, but good ones don't need em) and find the right varus or vargus wedge for your shoes. It will make a world of difference.

When I had am45s I had to use 2 insoles to make them bearable on the descents.

i race/ride in scott xc shoes, love them so much, they are comfortable, good adjustments, and they work great for everything (they are clipless though, which I only ride clipped in, so its no problem.

Shame they've actually got to wear them god awful helmets.
  • 2 3
Oi... I've got one of those! Nothing to do with the fact that it was 59p on Chain reaction.... actually is psyically cooler than my 661 carbon for 'endurrrrrroooo' riding i.e. all day riding going down fast when you want to look after your teeth.
  • 2 2
Well my friend you have just wasted a good 59p that could of been spent on something much better like some crisps.
  • 1 0
Good point.. crisps are awesome! Smile
