Polygon Bali Escapes is a week of riding holidays with Polygon UR pro riders. It takes you from jungle bike park, long singletrack that finishes on a black sand beach to riding down a volcano at sunrise! All this with the chill vibe of Bali and some bbq on the beach, pumptrack session, surfing, and snorkelling. Sam Reynolds, Alexandre Fayolle, and Couscous had the chance to participate in this first edition and are ready for the next Polygon Escapes that will be held in October 2017. Save the date for some good times!

BALI BIKE PARK

Polygon Escapes to Bali

Our first day on the bike was at Bali Bike Park. Shuttles take you in the jungle to ride the trails. You can find big jumps, steep flowy tracks, and the dirt is some of the best we have ever seen.

CENTRAL BALI ENDURO

We left the DH bikes and went on this enduro trip that took us from the top of a mountain riding long singletrack through jungle and villages with nice views of rice fields and lakes.

The ride was around three hours long going up and down to finish on this black sand beach with a well-deserved dip in the ocean.

VOLCANO RIDE

Polygon Escapes to Bali

We can't say that it was easy at all to push our bikes in the dark up Mount Batur to catch the sunrise.

Polygon Escapes to Bali

When we got to the middle station, a bunch of monkeys were waiting to get their daily feed.

We probably spent way too much time with them and caught the sunrise from there.

We could then see the top of the volcano and knew we weren't there yet. Once at the top, it was very serene and super peaceful.

Polygon Escapes to Bali

Even though our energy level was very low, we were excited to start riding down on this epic ridge where the soil was like a sand pit. Berms could be made wherever your imagination took you.

The terrain then changed to big rock gardens and finished in the jungle. It sure made for a glorious day but we were ready to chill the next day.

PUMPTRACK, SCOOTER AND SURF SESSION

Polygon Escapes to Bali

We were lucky to stay at the Chillhouse where we were treated to delicious food and massages after our rides. We took the scooters out to go look for some waves in Canggu.

We had heard about this huge pumptrack and thought it was a good reason to use the scooters again so we went to visit Amplitude and did a few laps on this awesome pumptrack.

This trip was the perfect mix of downhill biking, enduro riding, freeriding, surfing, swimming, good food, adventure, scooter rides and chill.

See you there next October!

 I prefer loose riders visit.

I agree... I guess other teams had set the bar so high that it is hard to reach it.

im here right now! Chillhouse is mint! 3 week holiday with the mrs and brought my bike as had my eye on Bali riding for a while Went to the bike park yesterday and as its currently wet season it was extra slippy. The roots are insane. Disagree on what someone said previously though as the uplift is pretty quick, like 5 minutes to the top so you can get loads of laps in. Short laps but sweet laps. Doing the Volcano ride tomorrow so hoping the rain stays off. Definitely wouldnt come here for just a biking holiday yet though as still not a big thing here (I was the only customer at the bike park) and all the trails are a long drive from everything. .

My wife and I are heading to Bali for our Honeymoon for this exact reason! June can't come soon enough!

@Outdoor-mania: August is usually quite dry down here. Might be different this year though due to La Nina.

Funkiest pump track I've seen. Love it. The lyrics of that song sound like they were written by a tragic bail jumper from Dog the Bounty Hunter though. I actually laughed when at one point the dude calls the girl his "lady." haha, guess there are different definitions

I've never thought about traveling with my bike before. Seems like such a hassle, and worry of it getting ripped off comes to mind....but what a great way to see the jungle! Bike park rentals?

the chillhouse does offer rental bikes. but better bring your own bike! and the bike park isn't somewhere near the cost, where the chillhouse is. it is still 2 hours or so drive away. the tracks are very short and the way back up on the jeep are taking some time. the enduro tours got much more to offer. the mtb tourist industry is just about to develop there. so doen't expect too much. if you plan a bike holiday, this isn't for you. if you plan a holiday on bali with a bit of biking and you doen't mind bringing your own bike, this is perfect.

Does anyone know what the black bike is in the third-last photo?
  • 2 0
It's Polygon Trid ZZ! Heard that's their new slope style bike developed by Sam Reynolds.

 So. Green.

Maybe I have no sense of adventure, but give me pines or good old deciduous forest. Riding in the tropics really holds little interest to me. Huge bugs and gastrointestinal issues are all I can think of!
