Bike Park Segment 3

May 14th and May 15th. A week has gone by since the lumber has been delivered to our park and nothing has been done with it. Time to schedule another work day and start making some use of that wood!May 14th was an awesome day. I got out of work at 2 pm and headed to home. Before I started home I made a quick stop at the recyling point here at work to attain some needed materials; 2x4, pallets and small pieces of lumber to add to the already growing pile. Afeter getting materials, I headed South to Exit 7 to pick up Ty. He decided not to be at school for some reason, but his tall fish tale was apparently worth it. Facepalm

All the tools, buckets, wood, tunes cranked, windows down and passengers my car could hold plus 2 bikes, Ty and I were off back towards home to start working on the park! We arrived 30 minutes later to a scene of about 10 kids already scrambling around the park. All you could see were little heads popping up in the distance and dust clouds from the landings. I parked my ride and got straight to work.

We had some additional helpers down at the park I had never seen before. A gentleman by the name of Eric was there looking around and checking out the scene. Jack, Lane, Tucker and McCullough were all of course riding around as well. Eric came over immediately and asked what was up with the park. I explained we were in the process of building it up. He had seen the jumps from the interstate and decided to stop in. He was first to lend a hand.

We gathered up some kids and lumber, a few tools and headed off over to the side of the park. Brandon was there already digging out new dirt and shaping the jumps as he always does. He is our resident jump shaper maintenance guy. They have never looked more sharp and clean.

It’s great to have someone who has the building ability this cat has, we would still be jumping over what looked like old piles of Elephant dung compared to the gently sculpted masterpieces they are now.

With the help of some small hands and even a stranger, we managed to build a drop, just off the left side of the park. It may not be the prettiest thing, but certainly a great start and addition to our awesome developing park!

With basic hand tools and a little ingenuity, we managed to almost finish the project. There are much more needed materials, but as for now, we take what we can get and build what we can. A very huge thank you to Sticks and Stuff for donating a large pile of lumber!
