25 Days Until Whistler Mountain Bike Park Opens

Only 25 more days until Fitzsimmons Chair starts spinning. You know the feeling, the buzz in the lineup as you reunite with old friends. The anticipation as you ride the Fitz chair for the first time. The excitement as you drop in for that first lap. The cheers from mates new and old on GLC patio as you launch the GLC drops and the smiles and banter as your finish off the day with a few beers. Just 25 days left to wait. Mark your calendar May 16, 2014 is the first day of operations at Whistler Mountain Bike Park. With opening weekend less than a month away, today is the last day of ski operations on Whistler Mountain for the season. Tomorrow shovels will be hitting the snow on Whistler Mountain in preparation for opening day of the bike park. Don’t despair though, double activity days are still on the cards with Blackcomb Mountain open for skiing until May 26, 2014. Ski in the morning and ride the park in the afternoon.

Where I live the mountain is still open until may 5th... for skies. Ain't gonna be able hit trails until june and the season normaly ends mid october. BUT, during the short bike seasons, the conditions are the best. How are your winters? can't ride your bike for seven consecutive months too? Get over it and enjoy England! :p

I have to drive the length of two England just to get to Whistler.

Or, do what I do...work and save bloody hard and have a once in a lifetime biking holiday (and love it so much you have to return for the third year running). To visit Whistler when you live in the U.K. Costs a fortune, but it's SOOO worth it, at least once. Do it.

Gabriel. Our winters are generally rainy and crap. We're not lucky enough to a 6 month or whatever long ski season to bitch about.

Why? Switzerland is not lacking anything when it comes to mountains and great terrain.

I rode more from Nov - March than I do during summer, here in sunny California.

no....we have pretty much everything we want in terms of riding terrain...lots of biking resorts and local spots...but they open very late and close too early...the first resorts to open lift assists start late June, mid july.

If only seasons pass holders day was on a weekend. Got to miss it for school.
  • 4 1
missing school is bad? its like being sick, but instead of puking, youre scrubbing berms and nailing sluts
  • 1 0
Honestly I wouldn't care about missing school for Highland, but couldn't get there in the first place as my parents would be working.
  • 9 1
Meh, we've been shredding Morzine for weeks.

We've been riding for months, in fact with the North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, Squamish and Pemberton all within a short drive we don't stop riding. You don't need the lifts to turn to ride early season, and neither do we!
